Ive got a one step program that worked for me.

1. Jesus Christ and him crucified.


Yesterday I lost a dear friend to me. His name was Jacob. He oded on heroin. 32 years old taken out of this world too early. Wife, 2 kids.


I just want to say today that there is no other hope to us addicts other than Jesus Christ and him crucified. I had to write this post cause I want to give thanks to Jesus for what he has done in my life. 2 years and a couple months clean! That could have been me. This is a wake up call folks!

I don't get it. Why did Jesus save SececaRD (for now) and kill Jacob? Someone please explain, in understandable, logical English.
 
Did God Kill Jacob???? Or did the sin living within Jacob kill Jacob?


And for your answer right out of the bible:

Romans 9

14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,
"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."[f] 16 It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."[g] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
 
I gotta say that when I was caught up in the ICOC I never really wanted dope, or money, or most anything else.

I did want sex though. Lots of sex. Sex was on my mind continually. Catching sight of any healthy female of breeding age made me have to walk hunched over until my boner went away. This is probably the reason the apostles wore tunics.

While I may not agree with your feelings on Jesus, I must say that if you believe in it and it's helped you stay clean, then that's awesome :)
 
Sorry man :( I been thinking about my friend who OD'd at sixteen a lot lately. I know how it feels.

I still am at a complete loss as to how a nice person being crucified on a cross is supposed to help somebody. Tons of Jesus Christer's drink til they drop or w/e...

Draigan- Jesus Christ being the son of God, perfect in all ways, sinless, hung on that tree and bore our sickness and disease. He was burried, then was raised from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of God interceeding for us. Jesus is not dead. That tomb is EMPTY!

Exactly. I couldn't agree more. So what was your friggin' point to begin with, given that it's some unexplained and seemingly random subjective whim of god whether Jacob, or you, or anyone else ODs or doesn't? I doubt you understand this, but you've rendered your own thread a meaningless tautology.
 
all i got from that quote was shit happens to people because of personality and luck. Some people are prone to addiction, some arent. Some people get rich, others eat shit and die. Then either way gods will is assigned credit for the events.
 
Because I am a compassionate secular humanist, I'm glad your belief system helps you to process and deal with your loss and the ensuing grief. Sincerely. I think one of the most valuable of the gifts granted to believers is a mode of thought that allows them to process and understand loss.
