Idk where this belongs exactly
but my question is, but if you took a medicine as a child(phenergan in my case) and had an allergic reaction to it, will you still be allergic maybe 15 years later?
I've taken phenergan plenty of times since they declared i was allergic to it when i was a child, and never had a bad reaction even at doses of 120mg or so since age 16 maybe im now 19. One time i took about 120 give or take and only had a minor rash on my arms. But ive taken it since then even with no bad reactions.
Am i still allergic to it and don't know it, or did my body get used to it, or is it possible they made a mistake and this allergy was just a bad first time side affecto when given at a young age??
Thanks, Cheefin Treefa

This is a tough question to answer. If you take a drug and have a reaction to it. The first time then yes. You are allergic to it. You should not take it again.

Then there reactions to drugs that build over time. You take it once, nothing. You take it twice, a little tickle or your throat fills full. Maybe nothing the next time. But be sure your body is building up antibodies to the "invader" and you can go into anaphalatic shock.

It's the same principle as being bit by ants or bees.

You may not be allergic to Phenergan it's self but maybe a inactive ingredient.

Be careful. I know Phenergan is a antihistamine but people can still get reactions to it. It just isn't very common.

I've certainly grown out of environmental allergies but never thought about the concept applying to pharmaceutical allergies. Very interesting.

i still have quite a few environmental allergies, and i guess im not allergic to it, or like Zoe said could be an inactive ingredient.
Oh well..
