Okay losers, post here! v. The Weight Loss thread

You're doing well SLM.

I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to feel guilty for eating a potato cake - that would suck some serious balls. I eat fast food in large quantities 3-7 times per week.

I have a reason for being in healthy living, however! I'm trying to lose some weight [5-10 kilo's], although I could never sacrifice my dear, beloved food. I only eat twice a day or even only once a day, with a few snacks, so I don't think I need to. Note: This isn't intentional.. it's just what I'm used to. If people saw how much I ate in these sittings, I don't think they'd be convinced it was a problem... ;)

At the moment I've signed up for a gym membership, going twice a week [if I can find the time]... mainly doing cardio work. I hate weights.

I've also taken up funk dance classes... in Glen Waverly at Wendon. Hey Carla - I want to take up either latin or social dance [ballroom] as well. If you're interested in being my partner *wink, wink* ;) send me a PM and we can do it together. Would be a whole heap of fun and maybe you'd kindly remember the moves for me... 8(

Beginner class for n00bs = $55 for 12 lessons. Bargain! :D

Ok I trained a bit more and ate a bit more and Im know 98 kg :)
That's 8 kg more then I posted the last time.
In about 3 weeks, that's not bad I guess. But I do get a bit chubby whehe.

Ow and go drop that pounds.:)

I've dropped 8 kgs in a bit over two months, which means I'm now 5kgs from the "healthy" BMI range for my height. All I've done differently is cut our junk food, limit booze to weekends and walk *lots*. I strongly believe in eating intuitively - I take a multivitamin daily, then eat whatever my body tells me it wants :)

I now need to get some tone happening though (I was a bit of a fat fuck there, and cellulite ain't cool) so now I have an MP3 player I'll be gymming it up as well. I could realistically lose 15 kgs and be in the middle of my BMI bracket, but I think I look too skinny at anything under a size 14 (I'm 5'11" and actually look taller than that).

i dropped from 230lbs in college to 155lbs. Ran 7 miles everyday 5 days a week and adjusted my diet. Works wonders!

After you lose the weight you can maintain it by remembering to do a little bit of cardio everyday and eat things in moderation

Wow! Awesome! Congrats to you and everyone else who is losing weight and getting healthier. =D

Haha, I thought I'd ressurect this thread.

Since I first posted this, I've lost 12.5kg. (27.5 pounds). I'm now only 3kg from my healthy BMI according to the charts, but I reckon those charts suck ass because I'm a size 12 bordering on a 10 (that's probably an 8-6 American) and I look great right now, well I think anyway :)

I think the last time I posted I'd lost only 4.8kg. It's taken so very long (11 months to be exact) to get to 12.5, but I haven't lost focus that whole time apart from a few minor slipups, and that's the important thing I think.

Just over 1kg (2.5pounds) a month loss... does anyone think that's sucky, or is that reasonable? :(

How's everyone else doing, and does anyone else want to discuss any diet things at this point? (this is more of an eating thread than exercise thread FYI)

I think staying on constant loss is the important thing, 1kg a month depends on how overweight you are. my body fat % was 30%(bordering obese), I lost 4kg in 2 weeks and now I am 90kg 27%.

What I find helpfull is to use this calculator cut out as much fat as possible and try create a calorie deficit even through excercise if neccesary.

after 2 weeks I dont even get really hungry anymore despite creation a 2000calorie deficit per day. Any carbs I eat is low GI, and I make sure I have atleast 40g of protien per day to maintain muscle mass, and one day a week I have 1 meal of whatever I want, usually maccas, kfc or a rack of ribs :)

These are the foods I eat throughout the week.

low GI cereal(rice puff, corn flakes, sultanas, paw paw, coconut, bran, oats)
lean beef
fruit juice
chicken
non-instant oats
low fat milk
sustagen
fruit and vegetables
wholegrain rye bread
low fat yogurt
low fat microwave dinners

Incase anyones interested, I was shopping for body scales the other day and bought these scales that measure your body fat and hydration level, I was skeptical at 1st thinking it did it by the moisture on your feet and determined it by hydration level, so I did some research and found it actually uses eletricity.
The Phoenix uses one of the most reliable methods of analyzing body composition, BIA, short for bioelectrical impedance analysis. BIA is based on a persons height, weight and the strength and speed at which a very safe, low-level electrical signal passes through the muscle and fat in the body. The Phoenix uses a true BIA process that is accurate, convenient and fast. Electrodes built into the Chrome Foot Pads sends a safe electronic signal through the body. Weight and body fat are calculated automatically. The measuring process is conducted using modern strain gauge technology. An aluminum 4-sensor load cell accurately detects your weight with 1% accuracy

Independent research at several major universities (including Columbia University in New York City) has confirmed that in clinical settings, BIA is accurate within +/- 5 percentage of the institutional standard of body composition analysis--Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). It should be made clear that there is only one method of calculating body composition that is close to 100% accurate, and that is an autopsy. We believe the BIA method to be the most convenient and accessible to accurately predict body composition. Phoenix's Body Fat Monitor results are repeatable to within +/- 1 percent variation when used under consistent conditions.

I havent weighed myself in the last month and a half...I'm scurred ;)
I plan to weigh myself after I've lost a significant amount of poundage..possibly in a month or so. It has been a gruelling and very SLOW thing for me.....I have lost a pound or two a week since I started exercising this January....and sometimes only a pound every two. But I'm NOT giving up....I always remind myself that slowly and surely is what is best for me and once I get to my goal weight it will be a permanent thing.

One thing tho that reminded me I was on track...this pair of purple velour pajamas I got a couple of months ago on sale could NOT go past my butt.....and the other day it fit me perfectly =D

I lost 4% body fat. My arms have definition. My fiance is luving the look of my muscled back...I do too. My ass is tighter per the fiance. I cannot see it. I don't pay as much attention to the lbs on the scale. For the record, I am 125 lbs. This week anyway.

My weight loss came to an abrupt halt I havent lost any weight in 7 days, if anything I put on weight, its almost baffling.
My friend was like I told you so, he has the book "burn the fat, feed the muscle" He said to read it and find out why my diet didnt work. I got the book, I read afew chapters, and it did explain it, so I am doing an overhaul of my plan. 6 days a week in the gym(3 days weights, 3 days fasted morning cardio) then slowly pushing it to 12 times a week if I hit a plateau.

I'm 190 now, trying to lose about 20 pounds... been biking a lot and trying to eat healthy... its hard when you work in a professional kitchen and you are in charge of desserts... there is always something there that tastes awesomely good but has like a whole day's worth of calories, and I HAVE TO quality control.. :X

veggies, brown rice and cottage cheese are my new best friends :)

i feel like i am on the weight gain side of things. sometimes i get in these phases where i NEVER get full. i can be eating all day and as soon as i finish something, i want more. that's how it is now. sigh. this too shall pass.

that is usually when it happens to me, and i just got my period, so that would all make sense except it feels like it has been going on longer than that. it doesn't help when your college is equipped with a system where money is pre-loaded onto you ID card and can easily be used at any vending machine or cafe on campus.

I have to go from 172lbs [78kg]->150-155lbs this month [below 70kg!!!]....There aint alot of fat on me either, but I need to drop a weightclass in boxing. My diets pretty erratic, but im pushing 1000situps, 500crunches, 500 pushups and hundreds of freeweight reps daily to try to lose this, aswell as mad running and hiking...

I was watching kenny vs spenny "who can lose the most weight" and spitting into a bucket all day for afew days is good for about a kilo(according to a boxing coach). They were doing other crazy stuff like this special contraption that sucked all the moisture out of kennys legs, and kenny even got an enema.

hey losers :D
i have just started to diet. i have never been a dieter, bc i love veggies, and healthy meats, and have never needed to, always was really thin. but this past year, the age of 30 has meant a sudden stop to my metabolism, or something...bc i just keep gaining. it is really disturbing when you have never been fat, and all of a sudden you see yourself and it is nasty. it happens so slowly.

well, i realized a few months ago that i am too lazy to cook two meals every morning noon and night (my family can't eat the meals i want to eat all the time, too picky) so i broke down and ordered the nutri system food. it just seems easy, pull a meal out and nuke it.

the food is surprisingly decent, and you can add tomatoes and veggies, and garlic and what not to spruce it up, so hopefully it works. will be buying an elliptical stairmaster this week too, can't not excercise, and florida is way too hot to walk outside.

right now i am in a 12 :( goal is to go back to 5/7, which is perfect for me. i won't bother weighing myself, i don't have a scale and i am afraid to get on it now lol and how i look and fit is more important to me than the number anyway....

wish me luck!! i started last wednesday.

Good luck!

Well I am starting week 5 and so far I have lost 14lb. I am buying an exercise bike today and changing from rye bread to low GI white bread, and I got 97% fat free cold cuts (chicken, ham, pork) to go with it.

*lots of water and no soft drinks (even diet ones)
*eat as fresh as possible with lots of fruit and vegies
*at least walk every day if not doing any other exersise
*always eat breakfast
*don't eat past 7pm

I lost 4kgs this week :)

It does not matter WHEN you eat. It is the total calories consumed per day.

Personally, I think placing a time limit for food consumption creates an ugly unnecessary restriction. Go ahead eat something healthy at midnight and go to bed.
