Holy heck.

What makes alcohol so addictive?

Literally I am a student and I achieve everything I need to. But its difficult for me to go by one week of my life without drinking at least one night. What the heck is this ? do other people have this? Like i get my shit done and I can abstain from drinking everyday but when I go out when I chill Alcohol makes everything so much better.
So yea Heroin and Cocaine have a Utopia effect but Alcohol does too.

I drank away at least 2000 dollars to 10000 dollars the past 2 year.s

I am a functioning member of society yet I really enjoy drinking like one week doesn't pass by with me at least not getting typsy once, I dont need to get more than once typsy. But It seems my blood loves alcohol. But I can go without drinking every day is this some form of alcoholism are others like this?

I am about to go party as it is, write back on here and I will respond to you later its 21.15 9 in the evening Central European time zone.

You aren't even close to having a true alcohol addiction. My guess is you drink around other people? You're probably only drinking because thats what everyone else is doing.

What your experiencing is social drive through peer approval.
Basically because your friends are drinking and having fun, you feel the drive to join in and be a oart of the group.

Your drinking doesnt sound damaging or dependance causing.
Start getting worried if you srart to drink everyday and alone.

Well your definitely not a alcoholic, as bunge said you dont drink everyday and/or alone. Once you start down that path then you have some problems ( serious withdrawal symptoms in other words that can include seizures and yes I know from experience they are painful as hell.)

Things that feel good are addictive, plain and simple. Even without the theory of reward pathways it's easy to imagine how something that can immediately remove stress and social anxiety and generally make you feel good can be psychologically addicting.
Alcohol as well possesses the ability to cause physical addiction after extended periods of heavy abuse, and the results can be lethal if not properly managed

Alcohol is not nearly physically addictive as herein or tobacco.

Millions of people socially drink for decades and would have no physical withdrawals if they quit cold turkey.

It's the psychological side of booze that is tough because drinking can be a lot of fun and is so engrained in society.

^^

Yes. While it's more difficult to pick up an initial dependency to alcohol than to opiates for example, when you finally do become physically addicted... it's very brutal. Some of the worst withdrawals there are.

You know, people are more understanding to alcoholics and seem to socially accept an alcoholic as opposed to a heroin addict. Its so damn ludicrous. Now if a heroin addict could feed his addiction for as cheap as a alcoholic, it wouldn't even be close, the alcoholics would be far bigger scourges to the earth. Almost all of the problems heroin addicts create for society is due to the inflated cost of it on the black market. For alcoholics all their problems are due to tehm becoming wreckless animals with no sense of right or wrong. I think I am going to setup a study, basically polling people, involving both alcohol and heroin, only list them as substance A and substance B. Give examples of both the effects on certain aspects of society, on the human body, on the persons life. But the one thing that will not be included is cost of the substance or legality. Let people choose which is the worse substance and therefore would be more reasonable to be illegal. It would be interesting to see people's opinion comparing the 'socially acceptable' alcohol to the 'oh so terrible' heroin.

*Sorry I know this isn't even really that related to the OP's topic, but just felt the need to write it.* As for the OP it seems alcohol addiction is pretty dependent on genetics, some people are a lot more prone to it.
