For fuck's sake.

I just got caught going through my parents' room about a half hour ago (it's locked) looking for my mom's drugs.

Thankfully she didn't have anything so I wasn't actually caught stealing, but they know what was up.

3 years of a clean slate on this shit, completely down the drain.

Fuck, fuck, fuck!
 
That sucks dude, since you didn't get busted with the pills i wouldn't sweat it too much.. i mean it sucks and feels awkward trust me i know i've been there too, but it could of turned out worse.

When you say 3 years of a clean slate, do you mean 3 years drug free or 3 years without going through your parents private belongings?
 
If your parents know what's up, you should come clean, and ask for some help.

Explore the reasons why this happened, and try to get some help for yourself. Get a therapist, or talk to some friends/family who can understand what you're going through.

The worst thing you can do is pretend like nothing happened, and to remain secretive/sneaky. Your parents will just lose all the trust they were slowly building up in you.
 
Hey it doesn't sound like it's 3 years down the drain at all. You didn't use right? Don't beat yourself up over something that could have happened.
I also agree with CH's advice - you need to talk to someone about this, address why you suddenly had such an urge to use again. But don't tell yourself you just wasted 3 years :)
