SNES

Plok - Side-scrolling adventure where the main character attacks enemies by flinging his arms and legs. They come back boomerang style, and if you fire all your body parts you are reduced to a torso that bounces around. Excellent controls and great graphics, lots of interesting weapon upgrades

Equinox - Unique dungeon-based RPG made by Sony. Simply incredible music and a very surreal feel altogether. Huge, takes a lot of time to beat.

PS1
Einhander - A side-scrolling shooter like R-Type, made by Squaresoft. Awesome graphics, badass bosses, and innovative weapon system.

Einhander was pretty awsome.

Trying to think what games I enjoyed that were mostly unknown, will edit when I think of some.

NES
Solstice:
Kind of like a cross between Myst and Atari's Pit Fall

SNES
Battleship:
Kind of like battle ship but you had to accomplish missions and when you got close enough to an enemy ship you would go into a real time battle mode and fire your cannons at the other ship. Different ships would have different strengths and weaknesses. Also where you hit the ship would make a difference on what kind of damage was done. For instance you could hit their guns and they wouldn't be able to fire anymore or you could hit their engine room and they would be dead in the water.

PS 1: Breath of fire 3, Castlevania Symphony of the Night (maybe not too obscure but not really mainstream and was one of the best games for PS imo)

PC: Master of Orion 2, Strife

Genesis: Phantasy Star 4, some game where you collect rings forget name but it was pretty neat.

SNES: some boxing game super knock out I think it was called.

Thats about all I can think of off hand I know theres alot more.

Did you know that Equinox for SNES is Solstice II?

My only complaint about it is that it's too hard without emulation, other than that I think they nailed it with regard to atmosphere. It just seems so surreal the whole time.

PC: Nitemare 3D, Queen of the Amazon

Although it's not obscure, I never hear Rise of the Triad mentioned.

Sega Genesis: Warsong
Sega CD: Shining Force, Lunar

Maybe not too obscure but "Beyond Good And Evil" did not get the recognition it deserved.
