I recently took the hint when I ran out of veins and so I quit using heroin, it been about 2 years since ive seen a doctor, and well... Whats gonna happen when they cant hit any of my veins for bloodwork and whatnot? Ive heard of what can happen, but what will they actually do? Before I quit heroin I had to IM\skinpop most of the time, even now ive been off heroin a couple of months, when I wanna bang the occasional morphine "my favorite opiate" every couple weeks or so I still get lucky to hit a vein, I even have a hard time getting it into my dick unless I got a brand new rig, and even then im lucky. I guess what I wanna know is... How long till my veins come back? What will happen when I see the doctor? Id poke myself In a frenzy trying to hit before my shot would gel up, but the idea of someone else doing it kinda freaks me out.

Well, I think it's good sense to stop putting needles in your veins if this is something that troubles you. Why would u need to get bloodwork done anyway ? If you eat a balanced diet and know what keeps the immune system strong you hopefully won't need to see the doctor at all if u are young.

Only time I had bloodwork was my mum wanting to see if I was deficient in x, y, z etc, it's never been necessary tho. Hav u been sharing rigs or smth

I need a checkup for sure, and Im pretty sure I'll get a blood test, have colitis from a former galon of whiskey a day habit and history of kidney stones, I don't really feel worse but Its gotta be something, went from a size 40 to 32 pants within months, I'm so skinny now, I miss my wardrobe. I dont eat very healthy, just as much as I can really, I miss the extra weight. But HIV and Hep C don't concern me much, only shared an IM needle once with my wife, and she's confirmed clean of both as of recently and doesn't share either. Id also like treatment for my insomnia, hate chasing street benzos or etizolam after 3 or 4 sleepless days. Anyway, I'm worried about having to get an iv in my neck or something, I hate needles unless I'm poking myself, even then I hate it, it's just the reason of bioavilibilty that I IM or IV morph occasionally, my needle fever is definitely over.

Definitely get tested for HIV and Hep C if you inject drugs, and have ever shared a needle. They will probably take your blood from somewhere else besides your arm. I have never injected anything, and I also hate needles and getting blood work done, but I recently did get some done since it had been a year, and they just used a smaller needle since it's as though my veins go into hiding when I have to get blood taken. I remember one time they used a vein in my hand since the one in my arm stopped draining blood, but I clot fast so maybe that is it?

In the meantime to replace injecting drugs get into lifting weights daily as this will help your veins, as will eating a healthy diet full of B and C vitamins.

Thats what worries me, my wife has awesome veins in comparison to me, took the ER 8 hours to find a vein, almost had to do some procedure to insert an iv in the chest or something along those lines, makes me nervous as hell, I've tapped all outwardly hittable ones out. Not worried about the hiv and Hep but will obviously get tested anyway, peace of mind I guess.

My veins would run away and clot a lot with me as well, idk why, they would sink in during WD too, kinda like insult to injury, heh. I'll take your advice on the weightlifting, I'll start with pushups as and go from there, I get plenty of vitamins, but I'll take your advice on more B vitamins too tho for sure, use to help the minere`s, so I'm sure it still will.

Good luck mate with everything. Angiogenesis is the process at which our body's create new blood cells. There is experimental therapy regarding the alleviation of issues associated with damaged veins by introducing a variety of key chemicals and growth factors. I'm not exactly sure how successful this is, but they can also perform vein transplants. I'll assume that would most likely be the last method because it sounds rather invasive.

Exercise is a great start. Take it slow and just work the muscle and don't worry about the weight. You want to be in control at all times to make sure you are achieving the best possible contraction in those muscles. Aerobic/aenerobic or endurance exercise promote angiogensis as well as arteriogenesis. If you experience pain at heavily used injection sites than you could possibly benefit from L-Arginine supplementation or just eat a lot of watermelons! (L-Arginine is a precursor for the synthesis if Nitric Oxide, a notable vasodilator)

Heh, watermelon and exercise sound like a nice combo, id really hope I wouldnt need a transplant, they been popping up abit more the last few days, been taking the pushup advice, been eating alot of fruit when I get the munchies lately as well, been smoking alot of weed since I quit booting dope, weed tolerence dropped like crazy in that time, it quit getting me high for a while.

Anyway, back on point, my veins still feel really hard even tho they seem to be popping up a tiny bit, do they soften back up over time? I never had this problem after I quit my first IV habit as id rotate injection sites regularly, this 2nd time round is a whole different story. Im gonna look abit more into those L-Arginine supplements, thanks for the advice.

From my personal experience with I.V usage during my teens that hardness went away for the most part. There is still a few veins that were in convienent areas that I completely destroyed and I do on occasion feel tightness during an arm workout around that area. Almost as if blood flow/capillaries are trying to be utilized within that area. There is a lot of preworkout supplements on the market that are geared towards vasodilation, but the safety of these is debatable. So I recommend that using L-Arginine as a precursor for the synthesis of the potent vasodilator be a safer method.

However, I I.V'd bathsalts Sooo...that was just absolute poison and I hope you never did that. No one should EVER try that ever. Please don't if you read this and didn't know it was possible. Just DONT!!!

8 hours to tap a healthy vein? What kind of hacks was your wife dealing with? That's pretty ridiculous.

It's unlikely that every surface vein in your body is damaged beyond repair. Most veins recover eventually, except the ones that were used so many times that they've permanently collapsed or become scarred, and that mostly relates to needling technique and not necessarily frequency. (For instance, after inserting a needle, some people leverage the needle accidentally, causing the vein to tear.) Nutrition and body mass index also determine how plush your veins are, as well as how much they recover. Exercise, especially muscle building, can help repair veins because the muscular demand for blood supply can trigger angiogenesis, but that's usually the tiny venules and not the huge primary ones.

If you're young and you cut back on the injecting or stop completely, and manage your nutrition and exercise levels, you should recover most of your veins. Btw... your concern about doctors hitting a vein is pretty unwarranted, unless you get the hacks that your wife got. ;) Experienced nurses and doctors can do it no prob.

They actually hit me pretty quick last month when I went to the psych ward for a 250mg nbome overdose, after vasoconstriction wore off it only took a few pokes to hit for the followup blood tests. So yeah Foreigner your right, my worries were unfounded after all.

if they can't find a vein they'll do a central line on you. They go for a larger vein in the abdominal cavity instead.

Actually, after hospital staff blew out most of my accessible veins during a health crisis 10 years ago, they stuck a peripheral central line in my upper arm. the procedure is done under local anesthetic using a fluoroscope for visualization. It's kind of cool to watch.

Since then, and since i don't IV, some of those veins haver recovered, recovered, but I am a "difficult stick" at the the best of times.

The first time they drew my blood at the County mental health center where I get my MH care,I told the phlebotomist what vein to use, showed her where the valves were, and emphasized how important keeping that vein functional was to me as the other two decent ones are in my forearm and the back of my left hand and both are apain in the ass to start an IV in.

The phlebotomist said, "Honey, I've been sticking junkies for the last ten years," and she was in that vein snickety snack.Didn't even leave a bruise.

If they can't get a peripheral surface vein, they'll do a cut down and draw from the upper arm. Don't sweat it. It doesn't hurt at all, and like I said, if you're not squeamish it's very cool to watch them thread the catheter in.

I don't know if this matters, but I had a port put in my chest, They thread it into a vein in your neck and an artery going to your heart. I had it for chemo, but they can access it for everything. There is always a way to get blood.

Was recently in the hospital for an infection over new years, I too ended up getting a line in my neck for a week, and a lot of hydromorphone too... mmmm... couldn't relax cause I couldn't smoke but fuck it, I like a good rush...

Also on another note, my veins are coming back little by little on my hands and arms, been gaining weight back, been using a lot less opiates these days, not a big fan of heroin, that's all that's available to me besides hydrocodone, and that shit blows. I snag up the rare chance I have to get morphine, oxy, opana, ect... or if I get a free piece of boy, l don't use much anymore. But when I do... I can hit sorta easy.
