Opioids No Opioid effects after taking Seroquel for months

I used to get really high off of just 100mg Tramadol (yes, I know it's not a real opioid, but I love it) or 200mg Tilidine, but since having been prescribed Seroquel for sleep (100mg/day) 9 months ago, I can't seem to get high even with ridiculous doses like 600mg Tramadol (yes I know that's dangerous) or Tilidine. I even tampered down and stopped taking Seroquel for a few days before trying opioids again, but still nothing.

Is Seroquel really at fault here? In another thread I have read something about it being a dopamine antagonist which kills the high, but I couldn't anything else about that on the internet.
Is there some kind of build-up? Seroquel has like a 6 hour half-life, so surely not taking it for a few days should mean that it is out of my system, right?

I took Seroquel XR 300 mg., usually broke in halves or even quarters, but over 10 years and unfortunately, it never interfered with my opiate use or even remotely felt any kind of less high, while taking suboxone. I’ve since been told that it’s a “dirty” drug and even though I miss it, I’ve been of it for 3-4 years now. But I have taken both together and neither interacted with the other.

That's strange idk but welcome to the club..I'm in the same boat as you after 11 years of subs 4x a day. 2months and a little over one week off subs and no high still took 4 Vicodin today and nothing.

Hey @UchvX

There is no direct interaction between these two or more generally, between Opioids and Atypical Antipsychotics like Quetiapine (Seroquel). I've taken Quetiapine for sleep in the past. The way I would describe it is like being numbed mentally and physically. Think of when your foot is asleep, but you can just barely feel your finger poking at it. Take that feeling and apply it to your entire body and mind and I feel you'll be close.

With this in mind, I think it would make sense that some of the desired effects of Opioids would seem to be non-existent if your emotions are blunted to begin with. It sounds like this is not the case for you. It is going to take some time for your body to completely clear the Quetiapine so I might just give things a minute to settle and then make another attempt.

Strange, I haven't really had a "numbing" feeling, I just took 100mg in the evening an hour before going to bed and it just made me really really tired. I don't feel it in the morning anymore.

Yes, I started reducing the dose yesterday and plan to get rid of it entirely either tomorrow or the day after; Then I plan to wait like a month or so (because I may also have some opioid tolerance) and then try opioids again

I had a doctor in a psychiatric ward describe schizoid/psychotic conditions to be a person having a greater level of "imagination/creativity" or whatever, so much so they can no longer interact properly with society.

I've known lots of people personally with mental illness of different kinds that led them to dangerous psychotic states. I've seen these people on medication and off.

I knew this homeless kid who stayed at the shelter for a bit. He went by "raven" wore a trench coat and piercings all over. He was, funny, smart and often hilarious. He was also in a phase of not taking his medication.

I met the same kid a time later on medication. No trench coat, no Satan worship, just a normal looking dude with extremely flat affect.

My point is, it's common for people to enjoy some effects from medication whole being harmed by others. This kid was no longer psychotic, but he also had no personality and lacked emotion I'm general. It's a common thing to flip flop and do the "grass isgreener" thing, just always play the tape all the way through on these thing.
