Well must have been a quiet news week...

Drug Dealers Infest Nightclubs

POLICE believe drug dealers have adopted some clubs

Although at least they've highlighted this problem...
Mr McCulloch said only the hot water tap was working at a wash basin at *** and alleged the wash basin was designed so patrons could not drink from it.

Drugs sent Laura Mad

In NSW its now illegal for the tap water in night clubs and bars to be hot and they cant sell bottled water for more than $3.

I thought it was the same in victoria but I guess not.

I always heard melbourne was alot more obvious than sydney when it came to drugs in clubs/events. We'd be more if it wasnt for undercover cops and sniffer dogs etc.

Ecstasy prepared by criminals in backyard laboratories could contain heroin, amphetamines and dangerous chemicals.

haha thats the funniest thing Ive read in the article. Heroin in pills: can they please research their facts a little better. unfortunatly I have to agree with the amphetamine comment.

And just to pick holes in the Laura Story one:

GBH liquid and ketamine -- an animal tranquilliser -

Just shows they haven't done much/any research and it's a scare tactic more than informing the public of 'real issues' to do with drugs. *waves to herald sun* You can't expect much from these guys can you?

Funny, I never knew lollipops prevented dehydration.

Nup, but you would expect at least some semblance of common sense. How the hell does sucking on a lolly pop stop dehydration?

You've got to buy a copy of the paper and check out the informative cartoon - its a pisser!

Send that in as a letter to the editor.

Anyways as I've said, it's a News Limited newspaper so I have low expectations of it %)

^^ Took the words right out of my mouth. The only semi-reliable sources of news in this country are the ABC, SBS and to some extent, Fairfax newspapers...

POLICE believe drug dealers have adopted some clubs
Well I never...

Not much good done by whining about it here. You need to clearly state your problem with the article and send it back to Cameron Smith and the editor. Media bashing really doesn't achieve anything because they hold all the cards.

A serving detective said some clubs had been virtually "colonised" by dealers.

ROFPML.... "colonised" what the??? yeah like the nightclub owners would let you make the area fine for living in... (see dictionary meaning)

Ecstasy users drink large amounts of water to prevent dehydration. Some clubs charge more than $4 for a small bottle

large amounts of water, hey i know it is good to keep your water level up but i personally and a lot of others i know still drink alcohol while rollin. wich takes me to a thread in another furum about trends of groups. not all the ppl walking around with a bottle of water is rollin. if that was the case why dont they go and pin something on gym users, most have a bottle of water with or near them while "workin out"

when are the fucked up police and media goin to stop steriotyping everybody and start reseaching the facts!!!!

I can't believe they named the nightclubs in the article....
Defamation lawsuit anyone?

I don't think there's any case for defamation - there's little doubt in my mind that the journalist and/or undercover policeman saw what they said they saw. They also gave the nightclubs the right of reply, who in turn gave quite a reasonable line about 'our policy is zero tolerance and there's not much we can do about it, because we're not the police'.

Short of doing body searches (which would reduce the number of patrons, surely?) they can't really stop people bringing in pills etc., and even with body searches a lot would still get in, they can only go so far. Technically, their security would be officially expected to remove anyone seen doing/dealing drugs, and that is as far as their zero tolerance policy can go. However, the security can't be everywhere, and they can't legally put cameras in the toilets, so it creates a somewhat defensible situation for the club management. They know it goes on, they support a no-drugs policy which they can't police effectively, and that's about it as far as I can see, on paper anyway.

sydkiwi:[/B/} most clubs i've been to lately in syd still sell petite bottles of water for > $3 , though I agree with you that all taps seem to have the cold water option these days.

My question is where have all the undercova's gone?!?!?

They were soooo prevelant in the late 90's....But over the last few years they seem to be off in fairy land....

Looks like to me that all this curruption going on in the vic drug squad is taking affect...

Any thoughts on this?!?!?

^ LOL Nah the undercovers are just better at it now :P That's why you don't notice them...
