I am a new to meth and smoke it but am so freaked out about the damage it does to teeth, I bought some teeth and bone vitamins, drink alot of water and bought Biotene gel for dryness but my question is, is there any way to cover your teeth while hitting the pipe? I know it sounds crazy but is there any coverings that would be effective maybe like soft whitening trays or something. I would just really like to protect my teeth.; Also just curious, how much, how often of use would b e considered a chronic user? Thanks

Well I have read these common facts by research but was just wondering if actually covering them during the actual smoking process would reduce harm from the chemicals that erode the enamel. Also since I did read up on it, I make sure to practice good teeth hygiene and avoid sugary foods and drinks and oddly I don't have these cravings from meth

A few tips to avoid teeth issues with smoking ice

Although smoking meth is the most enjoyable for most people. It does and will have an impact on your teeth. Even if u practice good oral hygiene. It will just take longer to take affect. My advise is to see a dentist every 6 months as usual. Brush and floss as directed. And after smoking sessions I would definitely don't smoke and go straight to bed. Also, try using a bong compared to a regular glass pipe. The heat will also reak havoc on your teeth. A bong will elimate that issue . Using enamel rebuilding mouth washes and toothpaste will also provide some more protection against the thinning of your teeth.

imo, this is one of the biggest misnomers advertized about methamphetamine.

the hands down numero uno reason people get rotten shitty teeth when they do meth is because they are too damn busy tweaking out on something else more important than remembering to brush their teeth everyday.

personally I have used meth for quite some time (vaporized aka smoked), and I still have a full rack of pearly whites, as well as other people I know who have used it longer than I have. We practice simple, normal oral hygiene - brush and floss once (or more) a day. My dentist has said nothing in regards to erosion, cavities, gingivitis, etc.

people who use other ROA's (IV, nasal, rectal) still have the potential (can and do) have teeth issues. Therefore, it is not caused soley by the vaporization method of use.

I recognize that methamphetamine can cause xerostomia (dry mouth), however it is essentially up to the individual to make sure they stay hydrated, if not just for the health of your mouth and teeth, but for the health of your entire body.

Please be wary of the "information" you find about meth on the internet or anywhere else. Articles/authors use scare tactics to frighten people away from meth, saying it will make your teeth fall out and you're going to look like one of the people in the "faces of meth" posters. I have seen government websites that post blatant false information about meth. Frankly, it pisses me off to no end because there are users, such as myself, who nobody in the world would know that I use meth (unless I told them) because I practice harm reduction and don't let myself go batshit crazy.

Methamphetamine is still prescribed by doctors under the brand name Desoxyn. After reading much literature on this drug, nowhere could I find a side effect listed that had anything to do with teeth. Nothing like teeth loss, enamel deterioration, erosion, cavities, none of that. Therefore, methamphetamine itself does NOT cause tooth loss, decay (etc). The following can then be concluded:
1) 'meth mouth' is a result of poor oral hygiene habits of the user
2) 'meth mouth' could possibly be contributed to a cut in the [street] drug
3) there is no possible way that doctors would/could prescribe this medication if the side effects were really that of serious tooth decay and permenant tooth loss. A doctor's main job is to do no harm, and when speaking of medicine, the side effects of the medicine prescribed to a patient should not exceed or be worse than the ailment that the patient is currently suffering from (benefits need to outweigh risks)
4) the only real way that I can think of that methamphetamine itself could cause teeth decay/loss/loss of enamel is if you actually were rubbing the drug all over your teeth, not just once, but many times over.

Although I think it is nice that you are attempting to preform harm reduction practices on yourself, when it comes to street methamphetamine, I can say from much experience that tooth loss or mouth issues is by far, one of the LAST things you should be worried about. When you've been up for 5 days straight and you're best friends are non-existant aka shadow folk and you lose your job and have no money and start stealing shit to get your fix and become nuttier than a squirrel turd, you aren't going to be thinking about your oral health.

certainly possible, but not indefinite.

o rly? how long? what effects?

excellent adviCe

...........heh, that gave me a chuckle. maybe I should also wait exactly one hour to swim after using methamphetamine?

Also, try using a bong compared to a regular glass pipe. The heat will also reak havoc on your teeth. A bong will elimate that issue .

I see ZERO logic behind this statement.

...and "the heat??!?!?" the heat of what??? are you using your lighter on your teeth? didn't anybody show you how to vape a damn bowl properly???? I have *never* felt any heat on or around my mouth or teeth when smoking methamphetamine. If the shit's hot in your mouth, somethin' ain't right....seriously

Using enamel rebuilding mouth washes and toothpaste will also provide some more protection against the thinning of your teeth.

:::golf clap:::

1) It dries out your mouth.

2) The vapors of crystal meth are corrosive to tooth enamel.

3) You are probably not drinking water often enough.

I think that's about it.

No matter what ROA you take, it can still cause dental issues.

Although an experienced user taking the legal pharmaceutical version (at therapeutic doses) who practices proper dental hygiene and oral hydration amongst many other methods to prevent toxicity and overall negative health impact to the best of his or her ability, probably has less of a risk of dental issues than others who are less meticulous, wouldn't you agree? Or do you think dental issues are inevitable regardless?

@OP, I would recommend against smoking the methamphetamine just because you don't have the added risk of complications from the inhaled vapor. The oral and rectal routes are both extremely effective, both in terms of extended duration and smoother comedown, and overall less side effects. That being said, there are many who prefer to vaporize because everybody's body chemistry is different, so YMMV. What works for many, doesn't by default work the same way in you on the individual level, we all respond differently.

Take vitamins and supplements, particularly chelated magnesium, vitamin D, coconut oil capsules, and a complete multivitamin. This in addition to a healthy hearty meal and 8 cups of water per day will give you a fighting chance against the damage methamphetamine induces.

One piece of advice with methamphetamine, it's highly dose-dependent. This goes for side effects too, especially side effects. The more methamphetamine you take, the worse side effects are going to be including risks of sleep deprivation, malnutrition, dehydration, bad hygiene including the dry mouth being discussed earlier, psychosis, sexual issues, drastic change in inhibitions, Peripheral Nervous System side effects really come out and fuck you up if you take too much and it does not feel good which is why a lot of people take CNS depressants, which can lead to developing two addictions.

I would also suggest that you get a digital blood pressure monitor and check your bp periodically.

"Can cause" and "will cause" are two completely different things.

I think your gums are better without desoxyn, but if you take good care of them, drink plenty of water and take normal doses I don't see how it would be noticeably detrimental.
