New York Lightens Up on Some of the Harshest Drug Laws in the Country

You see, every time someone gives birth to a crack baby, that's one more life the US Government didn't care to save via legalizing drugs. Crack would have never been invented if cocaine was never illegal in this country.

great post all in all, I agree with most all of it, 'cept this last bit. I mean, I'm not sure where I stand on it per say. But if once legal drugs that are now illegal were RE-legalized and put on the shelf right next to tobacco and liquor, there'd be like "super dope", and all this crazy marketing/advertizing, and along with the perks of capitalism there'd be stronger and more insain types of whatever drug, and better and new delievery systems. Although the oldest and the cheapest would probably remain the popular. They were and are more/the most popular for a reason. I definately prefer quality coke over crack...I prefer being sober over crack...well if I had GHB for the comedown..hrmm..right, anyways:
I'm thinking the drugs that are used now, if RE-legalized, wouldn't really see a rate in usage of when they'd be legalized. People who want to do heroin are going to do heroin. People that don't want to do heroin are going to do heroin. People that are curious about doing heroin are either going to end up doing it or not. Some people fuck up since they don't know things like how to read or it's just one of the "perks" of having to deal with products WE WANT illegally...If pure heroin was in stores RE-legalised, in all different forms for all different routes of administration...I honestly don't think you'd see usage rates rize dramatically. Maybe as a "shocker" at first, and then i'd dip back down. Sure people that already use might use more because all the social stimatism of using drugs would rendered void (well more on the line of alcohlics, but probably even more tolerate and understood as a disease [addiction]), not to mention a tiny factor like THE PRICE being extrememly cheap, hence "these people" would be able to work their "9-5" without being in withdrawals, be able to hold down their credit, their house, car, family together, etc...since 90%+ wouldn't be going to heroin. ......uhm..DURH!??!?!
Fucking NYC...it's a dirty decrepid place. It's just a big ass city, and a lot of people I know from highschool, and unfortunately they gotta be got women, live there...fucking beet poets

I can't believe we have a country with two wars right now:
war on drugs
war on terrorism (or soon to be called some else)
And we, the sheep, have no idea that these kind of words can't be won. Their is not a real enemy to defeat. Our government sells drug in the states and out. Really boggles the mind.

I like that you brought that up. obama isnt calling them terrosists anymore, he calls them oversees combatants, and a terrosist attack is a man made disaster

NY has NEVER had Americals "harshest Drug Laws," not even close. That said, Rockefellar destroyed alot of lives, especially the Conspiracy nonsense.

At the same time, NY is the only place in the entire Western Hemisphere where having 1 gram of heroin or cocaine will merely get you a ticket, the same penalty for littering so the state is a double edged knife.

Carthago delenda est....

'overseas combatants'

I always had a bad feeling about Obama even though I wanted him to be good. Where are the statesmen of courage these days? Let's unite to throw out all the marketing strategy zombies, euphemisms and soundbites. Technology has brought us the global village and the opporunity for total communication but we waste it on pond-bottom TV and soundbites.
While we are at it, repeal prohibitions on narcotics.

( Is marketing strategy the right phrase or is it public image? Someone please advise. )
