What's up all. I am relatively new to Cincinnati and have found it impossible to get my xanax prescription, which I've had on/off for last 8 years and every month for last 2 years, refilled. I've gone to 3 diff docs and two wrote me a script to help me "ween" off and one just showed me the door. I also take Wellbutrin, Lexapro and Levothoroxin. My wife wants me to have the script as does my other family members bc they know I do better with it. I've been seeing a therapist for 2 months and have finally gotten to see the prescribing doctor and she will not refill my script bc I have a history of addiction. The script helps me to stay calm and avoid ruminating thoughts about relapse when they come - they help me socially and personally. I've never abused them. I need the name of a doctor or a source of the medication or something similar. Please help!

We do not allow doctor shopping on Bluelight. I sympathise with your situation but in order to protect you and the site we do not allow any form of sourcing and this would fall into that category. My suggestion is to see a psychiatrist. My second suggestion would be to listen to the medical persons telling you that a lifelong use of benzos is not a good idea. Perhaps you are experiencing the rebound anxiety that comes from benzo WD and PAWS. Stick it out if you can and see if you can possibly get this one medication off your back. Do you take them for anxiety?

Hey JBra84, welcome to BL.

Unfortunately we can't help you with the sourcing of any doctors, drugs or medications, it's strictly against our policies here.

It sounds to me like your best bet is to have another discussion with your current prescribing doctor and try to convince her to give you another chance. Sometimes they will consider a trial period, depending on the extent of your past addictions.

Hopefully you find a solution soon.

Good luck,
CFC

I've been seeing a therapist for 2 months and finally had an appt with a psychiatrist in her office. After a 90min session.of.brutal honesty, (I had been using ever since my benzonscripf ran out and my relationships and social life had fallen apart dut to anxiety and isolation and paranoia) she said, and I quote,"Even tho everything the medical profession has been telling me for the last few yea says that I should never prescribe
BeNzos to an addict, I truly feel u will benefit so I will write u a one month script and if you are clean next month I'll continue." Amazing! I've Always had to lie or minimize to docs but I said try honesty and it worked!"

Hey, that is great. I'm going to tell you my experience with lying--people usually know that you are and it immediately prejudices them against you. It's hard because you know that some doctors are not going to listen to you no matter what but overall I think honesty--especially in this area is your best bet. Stick to your scrip and ask her what else she would recommend you try for anxiety.
