Okay I've done my reading of various FAQ's and guides to IVing and now have a few questions that stemmed from a few accidents or "mishaps"
biggrin.gif

1) How can I improve my results when I attempt to draw blood into the syringe and nothing comes in? How far should I pull the plunger before giving up?
2) I use cotton to filter out all those nasty by-products but I realized that in the process I lose some of the oh-so-wonderful product. I used 45 units of distilled water and after I filter it I only came up with 31 units? Argh! Is there a way to get more out of it or am I just "struck"?
3) I use BD 29 Gauge 1cc Ultrafine syringes.... they have a slanted tip like this: ----/ (Yeah, very crude pic) my question is: Which side is up (or down)?
And finally...
4) How do I know if it is a artery?
Inquiring minds would like to know

Your feedback is much appreciated

/me waves
a few tips but i can't answer all your questions...
1) you shouldn't have to draw back very far at all... if you're in a vein, then a red cloud should blossom inside the syringe with very little pressure... otherwise you're not properly in a vein.
2) be sure to roll the cotton as tightly as you can - like the size of a tic-tac. it will absorb some fluid, but better that way..
3) i always had the slanted side facing down... flat to the skin, cause i recalled seeing a nurse do it like that or sometin. but i'm not sure
4)if the plunger shoots back with a lot of pressure, immediately, and fills with blood, then pull out!!!

one for all, all for one, and two and a half for me please...

I would hit the vein in my inner left elbow, and one time I pulled back ever so slightly and in an instant, what was in the rig turned red before my eyes. I've hit that vein a few times before, any explanation on that one time? Anyone?
PS: The thought of sniffing a bag of dope would tempt me. The thought of banging a bag of dope really fucking tempts me. Everyone becareful of how far you take your drug use.

Like they said, pull it back a tiny bit, a big crimson cloud will errupt. If your not in a vein, pull the needle back a bit, and play around with it trying to get it into the vein.

Roll it up TIGHTLY. The size should be just slightly bigger than the tip of the needle.
3) I use BD 29 Gauge 1cc Ultrafine syringes.... they have a slanted tip like this: ----/ (Yeah, very crude pic) my question is: Which side is up (or down)?
I've read from safe shooting documents that the beveled side is supposed to be up. I believe this helps prevent going through the vein.
4) How do I know if it is a artery?
Blood will fill the syringe without you pulling back on the plunger. If you have air in the syringe it will do this even if your in just a vein...But artery blood will fill the syringe FAST and will also be very very dark.

I don't always heat up my shit, but I more than usual have to use more water than I plan to draw up, reguardless.
I just reuse the cotton. Either I'll save it for another time, or I'll add more water and fill the syringe all the way after I've drawn up once and not gotten a satisfactory amount.
I would assume it's probably unhealthy to reuse the cotton later. Oh well. My filters turn brown/grey indicating drugs.. I'm not willing to throw them away.
