Hey folks,

Those who know should know I'm certainly not an opiate noob, BUT I do not take Perc's, specifically Tylenol in them, regularly. I'm a pure Oxy guy.

Anyway, I've been in the hospital for 4 days and starting 2 days ago they put me on a Perc regiment for my pinched nerve. I get 2 Perc 5/325 pills, 4 times daily.

So I've already done over 1300mg of APAP today alone, and I just filled my Perc script and dropped another 5 Perc's to add ANOTHER 1625mg of APAP!!

Anyway, here's my question for you pro's out there:

Am I gonna be cool? lol, I mean as far as my liver goes? Some people tell me that because I do NOT take Tylenol regularly (I'm an Advil guy), that I should be fine, even with this high of APAP content.

Thanks guys!

And please don't recommend CWE to me. I am aware of the process, but only have 10 Perc's left and don't feel like wasting them. So don't suggest it. Thanks!

Dude you should be fine as long as you're not drinking at all. Most people can take up to 4,000mg (4 grams) of Acetaminophen in a 24 hour period without worrying about liver damage, and this is the maximum recommended dosage established by the FDA. For the record, there have been reports of single doses of 2,000mg (2 grams) of acetaminophen causing liver damage, so it may be wise to stay under 2,000mg (2 grams) of acetaminophen in a single dose.

You're fine and I also advise you stay under 2000 mgs and definitely do not go over 4000 mgs of apap in a day. Trust me I've taken more than you have at once and am fine but eventually it did lead to liver problems. Yet I caught it in time and it has gotten better. I really do suggest you look into cwe sooner or later because every time you get pills you will keep using the same excuse...until your liver is damaged. I know from experience. Good luck

4g or 4,000MG is what the FDA allows in a single day without liver damage. However, there has been talk about only allowing 2g. Furthermore, taking a dosage about 1g in a sitting is not healthy. However, by a sitting i mean 1hr -2hr. Mostly just within the hour. Consequently, if you abuse it once or twice in a life there is very little effect. However, if its continuously abuse your almost guaranteed liver failure or problems.

he liver is the primary site in the body where acetaminophen is metabolized. In the liver, acetaminophen first undergoes sulphation (binding to a sulphate molecule) and glucuronidation (binding to a glucuronide molecule) before being eliminated from the body by the liver. The parent compound, acetaminophen, and its sulphate and glucuronide compounds (metabolites) are themselves actually not harmful. An excessive amount of acetaminophen in the liver, however, can overwhelm (saturate) the sulphation and glucuronidation pathways. When this happens, the acetaminophen is processed through another pathway, the cytochrome P-450 system. From acetaminophen, the P-450 system forms an intermediate metabolite referred to as NAPQI, which turns out to be a toxic compound. Ordinarily, however, this toxic metabolite is rendered harmless (detoxified) by another pathway, the glutathione system.
