I am in need of some serious help. I live in a state out west that is very low on the quality of health care and quality help available. Very few doctors to a large number of "patients" For over 8 years i have not been able to get a correct diagnosis and have seen around 15 so called specialists. All they have done is put me on every pill known to man. I do not use any other drugs although i havetaken more than prescribed when the pain has gotten to intense. Ive tried suboxone and subutex but the pain from my pre existing condition returns. Now with my insurance they dont cover much and i do not qualify for patient assistance. I am sick of all of the meds i am on and would like to come off of them. Mainly clonzepam which i was on 3 mg for over 4 years. The doctor switched me to 10 mg valium 2-3 a day and said i would not experience any withdrawls. The past two weeks have been a living hell. What should i do.....and im at my breaking point so no idea is to far fetched. Also i am also on about 12 other medications that i believe are also making my life hell. Please help.

i would just taper off with the valium. Gradually reduce your dose slowly till you get to zero. Use the search engine and type in something like 'valium taper' and you should find some great info.

what are the other medications you're trying to come off of?

Do you have an Emergency room / Hospital you can go to in case you have a seizure? When that irritable feeling gets to the point where you begin to have tremors and/or muscle rigidity, depersonalization, detached feeling, extreme anxiety all of these are signs that a seizure might be imminent. Sometimes they can occur without any physical symptoms at all so it's important to determine if your just feeling crappy or your getting worse and some of the above listed signs of physical stress are manifesting.

It's best to have someone with you who can drive you to the ER or call an ambulance if things go awry.A) Even if your not in danger a trip to the ER might be wise as you can have your vitals checked and have an MD determine the best course of action with all of the meds you're taking. B) It will show your regular doctor that he/she needs to reevaluate your current dosages and make appropriate changes.

Benzo withdrawal is horrible and I hope you get this sorted out quickly as you shouldn't have to suffer like this. If you don't mind sharing are you in Nevada or Arizona?

I would make an appointment to see your doctor and tell him what's happening with your symptoms of withdrawal. It can be tricky switching benzos and you may need your dosage adjusted. You didn't say what your other medications are but he can help you with tapering off them if that's what you want to do.

Another option is to taper off with clonazepam. Not everyone takes to the switch to Valium (diazepam). I didn't.

In Europe, it's more common to use clonazepam to taper.

Just a thought. Good luck.

Same with me, Valium was like taking aspirin. I would just taper with whatever benzo I was addicted to. Another warning of a coming seizure can be speech problems. I wish you all the luck possible, and just know, your life will be better without benzos. At least mine has been. It was like the benzos were keeping my pain meds from working correctly?

If you start experiencing physical side effects such as shaking, your doctor will more than likely increase your dose, or change the drug they are using to taper you with.

First go to doctor try to get comfort meds or more clonazepam. If he won't help take to the internet and get something like clonazolam or diclazepam to ease yourself off.
