It is going to be a weird day for me. I am going to a funeral today. I hate these things and this one is going to be really bad. Later, I am getting measured for a tux, which will also bring up weird emotions. I will be experiencing the extremes of life today.

I've gone to a funeral and to the hospital to see a newborn all in the same day. It really is a weird feeling going from such a depressing place to the polar opposite.
 
That is terrible man. The worst wake/funeral I've ever been to was for a junior high aged girl that committed suicide. She was a cousin of one of my exes and I don't think I've ever felt worse for someone. Her whole school was there and her father eulogized her and there wasn't a dry eye in there.

That’s how I felt earlier. It’s all gravy though. Sorry to bring the social down. Shit has just been heavy today. Thanks to everyone that said any kind words. It means a lot.

I'm good. Maybe a little annoyed that I've already blown through pretty much this whole bundle today. Also I can't figure out what the fuck is wrong with my car and it's pissing me off, I don't know shit about wiring/ electrical systems. It's running way too many volts when it's running, I thought it may be the voltage regulator but that didn't fix shit. Also, the voltage is wayy too high, yet it's somehow still not charging the battery? Who knows, I've got a short somewhere for sure.

So how was the tux, did it end up being awesome?

Also, what's up to the rest of you fucks? Wiggi, JB, seems like you're the only other souls up in this bitch besides LOM and myself.
 
Do you have access to the wire diagram? A mechanic buddy of mine once told me that there's literallyabout a mile of writes in the average car. I trend to believe from what I've seen.

Yeah, I've got a factory service manual and a haynes book for it and they both have diagrams. The car is over 30 years old so I'm sure it has less wires than the average car on the road now adays but there's still a shitload in there. That harness is so old and fucked and corroded and molested/ hacked up that I really should just re-wire the whole damn thing especially since I've removed so much shit I've got wires everywhere that no longer go to anything. But the thought of me re-wiring a whole car is like the thought of me performing surgery. A) it will never happen, and B) if it ever did the results would be disastrous, and C) I don't posses nearly enough knowledge to make it come out even halfway okay. I can do whatever mechanically and if it's something I've never done and or don't know how I can sure figure it out if I put my mind to it and take my time, but electrical stuffs are my biggest weakness when it comes to cars. Like I can wire up a sound system or driving lights okay, and I can kind of rig up an electric fan enough so it will work, but that's about it. Fuck it

I would take it to a shop that specializes in auto electrics. That's what I do and they charge about $80 to diagnose it. Mechanical shit I can usually figure out too, but when it is electrical forget it. Sometimes you spend more time and money replacing shit that was not necasarry.
 
Eh, that's my problem though. The prices shops charge around here are straight up rape (especially specialty type places) and there are so many electrical problems with the car that I know I wouldn't make it out of there cheaply. I absolutely do not go to shops or garages for any reason because of that fact. That's the only reason I ever got into working on cars and have as much automotive knowledge as I do in the first place- just because I wouldn't ever dream of being able to afford bringing one of my pieces of shit to a shop and I had to learn how to do everything by myself. I love the car, and I have put soooo much work into it but realistically it is still pretty much a piece of crap. It's more of a project car (although I may be forced to start driving it again soon as I can't really re-register my truck and my beater is just about dead now. It used to be my DD but has just been sitting in my driveway for about a year and a half until I finally got it driving again like a month ago) so I can't justify spending money on it at a shop. I love it to death, it's got sentimental value and the thing is just plain cool, but it's still shit and I'd be crazy to spend any decent amount of money on it that isn't just parts and my own physical labor, especially since I'm freshly unemployed as of Friday.
 
Yeah I usually do my own repairs too. Only a few times have I had to take my car in and it is expensive.
 
Electrical problems are the worst. Did you go through all the Fuses with a volt meter to see if they are not fried? Worst possibility is a short someplace in the hundreds of feet of wire. Good luck tho :)
 
Holy shit, I can't believe it's 3:45, last I knew it was 2am and I was trying to type out one simple thing on another website and fighting to keep my eyes open while I type and not make so many typos (much like I'm doing now on BL). Holy fuck I don't think i've ever nodded away so much time before. Fuck, goodnight
