Hi guys,

Following on from my other thread, due to the possibility of receiving potentially anything from suppliers, is there any easy to do (ie home based) tests to identify naphyrone (NRG1) ?

cheers,

Excal

1. Melting point.

2. Positive reaction with Dragendorff's reagent (this test alone does not provide much info).

3. Derivatization with 2,4-dinitrohydrazine and determination of the melting point of the derivative (...but of course you need to know the melting point of the derivative for comparison). Similar reactions resp. derivatizations are possible with hydroxylamines, semicarbazides or amines.

4. TLC with an authentic reference if available.

One test on me, it makes my brand new phosphor bronze guitar strings totally corrode within 12 hours of usage.... possible acid or alkaline (or.... !????) metabolite

I use 'energy-1' from the 1st uk trader &no longer trading

I'm a musician not a chemist but wish I could contribute more to this as its hitting the uk big time.

If you're not sure what you received actually is and have no way to test it or contact the vendor, then throw it away. It's either a few bucks or your health, your choice. Next time do your research before you order something. Naphyrone is a shitty drug anyway, the only reason I'd want to identify it is to be sure not to take it.

[and no the guitar test isn't scientifically approved yet]

Edit - haven't read the thread but there might be something to help you here http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=494019

i completely agree i would only wish to know how to i.d this chem to avoid enduring the few effects it gives and horrendous comedown, and as for the guitar strings that is quite disturbing.

I hope I don't get flamed for inanity, but despite all appearances, I had absolutely no idea this drug existed prior to BL...sounds like nasty stuff, though. I never cease to be amazed by this place, and that's awesome.

Just thought it was funny, and decided to comment...apologies in advance if you are irritated...

well if your guitar strings rust quickly it's sweat and air that does that unless the naphyrone is causing some extra oxidative effect.

well 3 different sources have sent me 3 different looking products :-S, one im convinced is just crap so im gonna complain, other 2 seem good, seems the yellowish version is just slightly impurer but fine to use

im surprised how much variation there is, i don't remember mephedrone having these problems (maybe i was just lucky with my sources).

Oh well its called research for a reason, and im having to do a fair amount atm hehe
