I wanted to make a thread for (book published) mystic texts as they don't get that much exposure and it's some of what you can learn the most from. The religious affiliation doesn't really matter. It's the internal experience that counts, which tends to be very similar within all traditions, anyway.

God Is Love – Peter Deunov

"Love is the world in which the Divine Spirit lives. The greatest world known to sages of all times, the world of which Christ speaks, is the world of Love. And when we say that God is Love, we understand that Love is the essence from which all things proceed.

Only Love is eternal. From it flows all life. Love brings the fullness of life. Good, which is a fruit of Love, is contained within it. Wisdom is also contained within Love, because it represents the forms through which God’s Love is manifested. Truth is included within Love, too. It is the purest image of Love. Righteousness is also included within Love. Therefore, the absolute Divine Love implies absolute Righteousness. Where there is no righteousness, there is no love. The physical aspect of Love is Righteousness.

In order that Love be manifested on earth, there must necessarily be Righteousness. Love is long suffering and charitable, but absolute Love requires absolute Righteousness. Only he who is enlightened with Righteousness is capable of receiving divine Love. Christ is Love, manifested in Righteousness, which shines forth within those who love Him.

Love is only for the great, strong souls. Enormous energy is hidden within the man in whom Love dwells. Remember: Love is not for the sick. Love is only for healthy people. The sick and the dead do not love. Only the living, who are filled with the Divine Spirit – they are the ones whose hearts pulsate with Love. Do not be deluded: the sick, the spiritually dead, are not illuminated by Love. And when you hear someone say: “I am a man of cold reason, I cannot love, I have no time to spend on such trifles,” know that that man is foolish.

The wisest, the greatest thing in the world is Love. The wisest Being, of whom it is said that He is Love, loves. He Who has created the worlds, Who has made everything, Who has filled everything with life, Who has made all sacrifices – He loves! Journey through the heavens, the whole universe, tour through all worlds, and all will tell you that God is Love.

And if you ask an angel: “Does God love us?”, he will answer you: “Better ask me to give up all my consciousness, everything that I have acquired throughout all ages, than oblige me to answer your question – whether God loves you!”

Love stands above nationality. Love stands above any religion. Love itself creates the religions. There are no religions in the divine world. There exists only Love. The atmosphere of the divine world is Love. Therein everything breathes Love. Religions appear because Love cannot manifest itself on earth. If you wish to do the will of God, by all means, replace religion with Love. Then everyone who loves you will be priests and ministers in your temple.

The greatest thing in the world is to come to know God as Love. The beauty of our life is in our connection with God, who is Love. Love contains within itself all conditions, all possibilities, all methods by which the human soul might develop to its fullness. Only love can awaken within the soul its hidden potentialities. Science and art cannot be the stimuli for the awakening of the human soul. This is temporary knowledge. The only true work in the world is the science of Love. It is the great object of learning for the soul.

The fruits of the soul ripen only under the rays of that sun. When the first ray of Love shines out for you, you will experience within your soul such indescribable bliss, such light, such a mighty impulse in your mind, and such a striving of your will, that all obstacles of the world will begin to melt before you. A few moments of existence within the divine Love are infinitely more precious than a thousand years of ordinary human life spent in great pleasures and enjoyments. In loving, we seek God. We have to love God in order to receive and experience Him.

However, remember a great truth: only God loves because God is Love. There is no man who can love of himself. Man can be only a channel of Love, but he cannot love of himself. To want someone to love you, means that you want God to love you. God, desiring to manifest His Love towards you on earth, has to select a person as an instrument and manifest Himself to you through this person.

Love is the collective manifestation of all intelligent beings who have ended their evolution and have become one with God. The love of one of these beings is the collective love of all. And if the love of one being is not the collective manifestation of all intelligent beings, it is not love at all. Therefore, the supreme, ideal love is manifested in love towards all people without their suspecting its source. To love men even when they hate you and wish you evil, to serve them continually, without their knowing it – that is ideal love, that is serving God. This is one of the fundamental traits of divine Love – it comes to us regardless of whether we are sinners or not.

Magic strength is hidden in Love. It is the key which opens everything that is closed. Love has its own sacred name – the lost magic word that the cabalistic searched for throughout all ages. The sacred name of Love – that is the magic key to immortal life. With it all negative energies are transformed into positive ones. A man can do anything with it. That is why it is said that everything is possible through Love.

There are four manifestations of Love in man. Love is aspiration within the heart. Love is feeling within the soul. Love is power in the mind. Love is principle in the spirit. And that is the whole cycle of development, from beginning to end. Love as aspiration moves toward the center of the earth. These are the roots of Love. Love as emotion moves toward the sun – these are the branches. Love as power is manifested only in geniuses and in saints. It is manifested in all who sacrifice themselves for a divine cause. Self-sacrifice is a manifestation of love as power. Only a man who has intellect can attain the realization of love as power. Love as principle is just entering the world. It embraces everything.

When Love manifests as power, there exist attraction, repulsion and contradictions. When Love manifests as principle, all contradictions cease. Man must pass through all phases of love. He has to pass through love as aspiration – through its roots; through love as emotion – through its branches; through love as power – through its blossoms, and then enter into love as principle to taste the divine fruit of Love.

The world will not be transformed until Love permeates it. Love is a great fire that brings life. There is not a more terrible power than Love for those who are in disharmony with it. The torments of hell will be theirs. The fire of Love, like a great wave, is coming now into the world. It will melt everything that cannot endure the high intensity of Love.

When Love is not understood correctly, its sweet juice, by the action of a certain astral fermentation, is turned into a peculiar type of wine. People get intoxicated by this wine when the impulse of love appears within them and they commit thousands of sins and crimes. But you, who think, recognize this wine of human love, which is formed subsequently from the sweet juices of Love.

Go fearlessly down to the roots of Love. Expand yourself among its branches. Bloom as a flower of Love. Become the fruit of Love. And when you enter into the world where Love’s fruits ripen, you will sing the song of him who has completed the great circle of Love – from roots to fruit."

Geoffrey Hodson

Geoffrey Hodson was an occultist, mystic, Liberal Catholic priest, philosopher, esotericist, clairvoyant, and a leading light for over 70 years in the Theosophical Society.

A Fairy Queen

We are surrounded by a group of joyous, dancing fairies. The leader is some two feet tall, clothed in transparent, flowing draperies, and has a star on her forehead. She has large, glistening wings of pink and lavender. Her "hair" is light golden brown and strams behind her.

The form is perfectly modelled and rounded like that of a young girl, and the right hand holds a wand. Her face is stamped with a decided impress of power, especially noticable in the clear, blue eyes which, on occasion, glow as with living fire. Her brow is broad, her features small and rounded, the tiny ears a poem of physical perfection.

The bearing of head, neck, and shoulders is queenly. The whole pose being full of grace. A pale blue radiance surrounds this beautiful creature, while golden flashes of light play around and above her head.

The lower portion of her aura is shell-pink, irradiated with white light. She is aware of our presence, seems to understand my purpose, and has graciously remained more or less motionless for this decription. She holds up her wand, which is about the length of her forearm, and is white and shining, glowing at the tip with golden light.

I hear faint, far-away music, too etheral to capture, such music as might be given forth by diminutive needles, delicately turned and strucked with tiny hammers. It is more a series of tinkles than a consecutive melody, possibly because I am unable to catch the sound. Now the whole group rises into the air and vanishes."

Midsummer Eve - A Teaching Angel Speaks

At Midsummer Eve there is a special outpouring from the angelic hosts upon their younger brethren. The higher angels descend and pour an added life force into all Nature and her myriad children in the fairy worlds of brownie and of gnome, of salamander, sylph, and water-sprite. Special work is done to hasten the growth of those about to enter into angelhood. Angels draw groups round them, take them in long journeys enfolded in their auras, showing them the work of their brethren in other elements.

The spirits of the flowers and woods are lifted up high above the earth that they may see the work of the spirits of the air and cloud, or of the mountain and landscape angels, each with their millions of fairy subjects below and on the surface of the ground. They are borne far out to sea into the realms of the seagods and the ocean kings, enter their courts, and see their subjects in all their manifold degrees. They return at last to their own domain, where they pass many days within the aura of their angel guides, assimilating the results of their travellings and growing under the influence of their teacher's life and power.

Angel worship of the sun is also followed at this period of the year. Wonderful and stately rituals are performed, generally in the higher aerial altitudes, but also on the great mountain centres of elemental life, such as Mont Blanc, the Himalayas, and the Caucasian mountain ranges. By these and other means a definite quickening of the evolution of the angel and of fairy is achieved.

The higher ranks of the angelic order do not normally have contact with their younger brethren who have not individualized. At the summer solstice, however, they descend amongst them in all their godlike beauty, and use the midsummer gatherings of the fairy folk to pour out floods of power and blessing upon the whole kingdom of the nature spirits.

In the old Arcadian days men attended these ceremonials of Nature and even shared in them and in the outpoured blessing and evoulutionary quickening which they brought to earth. The people of those times were closer to the kingdom of fairy than is mankind today and nature spirits appeared before men visbly in solid form.

The summer solstice has always been a time of great activity and importance to the angel hosts, for solar energies reach the earth in special measure at that period. At this particular period of the year the veil between the human and the angelic kingdoms of nature grows thin and so serves less to hide the angels from the sight of such men as seek communion with them.

The angel and human brotherhood of ancient days will return when man reaches on his present evolutionary journey the point at which they lived in close communion in earlier cycles of life. The present interest in fairies and angels foreshadows a change in human consciousness which will ultimately lead mankind to repeat the companionship and co-operation with their angel brethren which they enjoyed so long ago. Many changes are necessary, however, before the two kingdoms may work together with the freedom and fully conscious co-operation of olden times. In those Garden of Eden days man had not learned to kill, neither animal, bird, or nature-spirit feared him.

Those who would enter Fairyland and resume the old companionships of long ago must approach its gates with bodies pure and hands untained with blood. The man of love and the man of peace will always find a welcome there. Others, by the aid of their strong wills and determined minds, may rend the veil which hides us from their sight. They may even obtain forced labour from those of our ranks who have the unhappiness to fall beneath their spell. But the joyful greeting, the loving welcome, and the wlling help which the fairy and angel people give to those they love will never be withheld from them.

All men at their heart are nature-worshippers. Pantheism is a heritage from the past. One day man will return to the worship of the Immanent God and on that day he wil see Nature's fairy children face to face. Nature-worship springs from the knowledge of God-in-Everything. The true lover of Nature, whether angel or man, has learned to see God everywhere. When man has realized that profoundest of all truths, the ever-present God, he will re-enter the Garden of Eden from which he was so long expelled. That garden has always existed, it is the natural home of angel and of fairy, who have never left it since the world began.

The angel with the flaming sword still guards the gateway. None can pass him unless his heart be filled with love and reverence for the God-in-Everything. Those whose eyes have seen that God, and, having seen, have rendered service, may freely pass the flaming sword and enter into that fair paradise. There they shall meet once more and recognise their angel brethren who are the very soul of Nature in angel and in fairy form.

The gate of the Garden of Eden is open wide. The vision of its beauty may be seen by every man, even today. One day all men will enter in. God still walks through the green glades in the cool of the evening. All who enter will see Him there, hear His voice as Adam did, but will hide from him no more.

Then this earth, war-weary and blood-stained, will become God's fair garden. In its cool shade angels shall again walk with men."

The Glory that was Greece - A God of Ancient Greece Speaks

In the days of ancient Greece angels reached the souls of men through the medium of their emotions. The more advanced memebrs of the Grecian race knew them well and recognised their position in the divine scheme. The masses, lacking the vision and intelligence of their spiritual leaders, accepted them as gods and attributed to them various degrees of power and knowledge.

The angels served as the divinities of the household, of the hearth, of trades and professions, as patron saints of arts and industries, of temples, towns, and cities, whilest the mighty Pallas Athene was enthroned as archangelic potentate of all the Grecican race.

The people of those days lived close to Nature and were responsive to her hidden life. Many saw for themselves, and to these the existence of dryads, naiads, nereids, wood-nymphs, and fauns was personal experience. The fabled licence of those ancient "gods" and men is not without a basis in fact. Undesirable relationships were actually established between a certain order of nature-spirits and men. This led to the issuing of a decree forbidding materialization in the angel evolution.

Those ancient people lived far nearer to the unseen than modern man. They knew that their cities and their homes were peopled by the gods who shared in their religous rites and assisted in their civic activities. Artists, poets, and orators invoked them continually, praying to them for inspiration in their work. Much of the beauty of the Grecian race and of its art was due to this close communion between the people and their gods.

On later days the vision was lost. Religious concepts became materialised so that time has handed down but a faint reflection of the real history of the Greeks and their divinities. The immortal Selves of Grecian men are now reincarnate, and wek, their ancient gods, draw near, striving to awaken in them a memory of those happy days of long ago, in order that Greece itself may be reborn, and once more shed the light of beauty through the world.

This time the appeal is to the minds of men, who will now be illuminated through intelligence. Throughout the varied orders of our race many seek the close communion of other days, longing to share the labours of their human brethren. In the mental world they send out the ancient call in order that the minds of angels and men, hearing it, may be mutually attuned, as they were feeling long ago.

The minds of many modern men are listening. They hear, as from afar, the angels' call, and dim memory from the past begin to stir within them. They hear, because amids the problems of the present day their minds are full of questoning. In Greece, the teacher Orpheus drew into cose communion men and the angelic hosts. Today the Christ shall unite the minds of angels and of men, and lead them, thus united, to the promised land, the Kingdom of Delight.

Not the Greeks alone had their ancient gods, but Etruscans, Romans, Egyptians, Chaldeans, and Arabians. They, too, are incarnate once more and will play their part in the synthetis of all the mighty peoples of the past, which Those who rule the earth has planned.

Together we stand on the threshold of a new age. Together we are witnessing the dawning of a fairer day than this earth has ever seen. The beauty, wisdom, knowledge, and power of all the ancient races shall be evoked and blended in the building of the new world in which the coming race shall dwell."

Are you defining a mystical text as anything written on more esoteric subjects?

I've always enjoyed 'The Tree of Life' by Israel Regardie. He was a member of the golden dawn and one of Aleister Crowley's companions. A good book on kaballah and (less good) on Thelema. Other interesting occult texts included those Lon Milo Duquette, he wrote a fair bit on enochian, Qabalah and heremeticism but he found it funny and so relayed it thusly. I've enjoyed his writings for a glimpse into the other world.

But, in terms of encoding wisdom in a form easily ingested, Be Here Now by Ram Dass is a great, seminal, psychedelic-inspired, hindu/buddhist/western jewish mashup of ideas, with the simple heartbeat "B HERE NOW" pulsating at all junctures. :) <3

I was mostly thinking of personal accounts of a personal, mystical experience. Which can be any direct experience of God/The spiritual world/Unity consciousness, etc. or teachings derived from that. The mystical experience tends to be similar accross all traditions and tends to bridge different religions and belief-systems.

Theosophy is one of the best in that sense in that it derives from all the religions and people like Geoffrey Hodson who was both a priest/occultist/theosophist, etc. are intersting in how they show this can be done and they tend to just make use of what they can from the different belief-systems and leave the rest alone.

Whereas discussions on this board tend to end up with people falling out over where they feel their loyalties lie which I find a waste of time.

^I won't engage. ;)

I wonder if you've read "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley? His account of mescaline intoxication. Quite a good seminal work of psychedelic literature, one of the reasons this movement focused so heavily on spirituality and new-age, pan-religious ideology.

I'm going to also mention Terence McKenna's book "True Hallucinations", a bizarre tale of Terence and his brother Dennis taking mushrooms and ayahuasca in the amazon and communing with aliens, spirits, the future and discovering heretofore unknown psychic powers. Whilst I naturally question the legitimacy of the conclusions they draw (that they resonated the haramaline compounds of ayahuasca into binding with their DNA amongst others) and their understanding of the phenomena they experience, its a really atmospheric, engaging story of the madness and ecstasy of psychedelic, spiritual, philosophical exploration. :)

Yes, I'll see if I can find some cool accounts like that. Some are really fun, but I've also had a few experiences like that for myself, so I know how artifical they are and how it doesn't last. I'm more interested in those who can achieve this in real life, but they've mostly worked very hard for it, as opposed to me who mostly have spontaneous things come up here and there.

Speaking Nature’s Language

"If you want to communicate with nature the very least you can do is accept the idea that she is alive and intelligent. Most human beings behave as though nature were dead, and the result is that their own inner life vibrates less powerfully and with less intensity and their God-given faculties of perception and sensation are gradually paralysed. ‘What is the point’, they ask, ‘of trying to communicate with rocks, plants or the sun? They’re not alive.’

With this attitude they dull the edge of their own faculties and put themselves in a straight-jacket of their own making. He who believes that nature is alive and intelligent, on the other hand, makes an effort not only to understand her language but, also, to find new means of expression that allow him to communicate with her. The Creator has given us all kinds of means by which we can express our thoughts and desires and, even if we don’t receive any striking response, our words do have an effect on objects, on trees, on the light, on every living species.

Everything that lives on earth has its own unique way of expressing himself; everything in the universe, and the universe itself, expresses itself. But not everyone understands what is expressed, and it is up to a disciple to cultivate his faculties of perception so as to understand these different manifestations and forms of language. Some people - mediums for instance - already have this gift. In fact, I once knew a boy who could understand what an animal was saying. He could communicate with animals. He would tell us, for example, ‘He’s got a thorn in his paw’, and when we looked it was always true; this boy often proved that he could understand the language of animals.

Of course, I am not saying that such gifts are not extremely rare; it is not everybody that can interpret the language of flowers, trees or birds. But everyone can express himself to them; everybody can do as I do and speak to rocks, lakes, rivers and mountains. I constantly talk to everything in nature without worrying about whether I have been heard or not, because Initiatic Science tells us that the only reality is what we ourselves create with our thoughts and feelings, our desires, our words and gestures. This is what is recorded, inscribed in the Akasha Chronica, the archives of the universe, and one day, it must have its effect. You must continually act, continually create; the only thing that need concern you is that you create only what is beneficial and luminous. In this case, the whole of nature will open to you and then you will really understand that she is intensely alive.

If you want nature to speak to you, therefore, if you want her to reveal her secrets to you, there is only one way and that is to change your attitude. Change your attitude towards the sun, the stars, mountains and flowers and, above all, realize that nature is intelligent. If you turn to nature as a living, intelligent reality and address her with respect, she will begin to reveal herself to you, and she will reveal to you, also, the entities that inhabit the four elements: fire, air, water and earth."

Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov - The Fruits of the Tree of Life (The Cabbalistic Tradition)

Language of the Eyes

"There will come a day when human beings will look at each other just as God looks at them. They will have no more evil thoughts for each other and everyone will give free expression to their love by means of their eyes and their smile. A glance is the language of God. God and the angels speak with their glances. No one in Heaven has time to stop and talk to you; the angels move through space at dizzying speeds greater than the speed of light, but as they pass they send you a glance, which, if you were conscious of it, you will remember for eternity, and which will heal, illuminate and save you. There is nothing in the world to compare with such a glance. This is the true language of heaven.

In the future, human beings will speak to each other only with their eyes, for the mouth is not yet capable of expressing our subtlest feelings. Just imagine, for instance, that you went out into the street where you met hundreds of people, and that each one gave you a look of purity, sincerity and light; you would have the impression that you had arrived in the kingdom of heaven. If you had been in a state of despair, you would immediately be healed and resuscitated by those glances brimming over with trust. This expression is enough to drive home to you the power of a glance. What a pity that the glances you have experienced so far have, more often than not, been glances that disturbed or wounded you…

Unless they have a specific reason for attracting someone’s attention, it usually does not occur to people to give others a look of kindness and light which might help them. And yet, you all have the power to help those who are threatened by doubt, sorrow or despair and you could renew their courage, simply by the way you look at them. Wherever you go, in the streets or in trains and buses, you meet quantities of people whom you could help with a kind look or positive thought. At the time, they will certainly not realize what you are doing for them, but their soul and the spiritual entities that inhabit them will welcome what you send them and their frame of mind will change for the better."

Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov - The Book of Divine Magic

Expressing our True, Divine Nature

"You should understand that you are divinities. Yes, divinities, and you live on a higher plane free of limitations, shadows and darkness, sorrow and suffering, in the midst of abundance and joy. Do you know what prevents you from manifesting the splendour of those higher regions here below?

Your personality - in other words, your lower nature. Your personality is too unadaptable, too self-centred to capture the subtle messages from those regions… like a radio that cannot pick up all the stations. The waves and vibrations released by Cosmic Intelligence in the higher spheres are swift as lightning, and the matter of the personality is too dense, too hard of hearing to vibrate in tune with them, and so it cannot seize divine messages. They flash by without making an impression and we continue to live in ignorance, far from knowing or experiencing the wonderful joy of our higher Being.

There are ways of changing this situation. If you choose to lead a pure life and become once again a child of God, then your heart will open and become generous, your mind will clear and your will become indomitable. The personality will become the willing instrument with which to express the divine life of the individuality more and more fully and correctly… until the day comes when both the personality and the individuality become fused with each other, the personality ceases to exist and becomes one with the individuality.

What I am telling you is very important. Even if you manage to control your personality, even if you force it to carry out your idealistic plans and projects and make it do as it is told, it will not be the same as if you had removed the old clichés and put new clichés into its head. It may bow to your will, but that doesn’t mean it has adopted your imprints. On the contrary, it still has its own, and is waiting for the moment to do what it wants.

In beseeching God to take possession of you, you are robbing the personality of its old memory and habits and from then on it will no longer be the personality that guides your life but the individuality! The form is still the physical body, with a stomach, lungs, brain, etc… but with new contents."

"Gnosticism was a wide-ranging religious movement of the first millennium CE—with earlier antecedents and later flourishings—whose adherents sought salvation through knowledge and personal religious experience. Gnostic writings offer striking perspectives on both early Christian and non-Christian thought. For example, some gnostic texts suggest that god should be celebrated as both mother and father, and that self-knowledge is the supreme path to the divine. Only in the past fifty years has it become clear how far the gnostic influence spread in ancient and medieval religions—and what a marvelous body of scriptures it produced.

The selections gathered here, in poetic, readable translation, represent Jewish, Christian, Hermetic, Mandaean, Manichaean, Islamic, and Cathar expressions of gnostic spirituality. Their regions of origin include Egypt, the Greco-Roman world, the Middle East, Syria, Iraq, China, and France. Also included are introductions, notes, an extensive glossary, and a wealth of suggestions for further reading."

This one is my favorite.

Christ Consciousness - Asger Lorentsen

The term Christ consciousness can be used in a very broad sense to mean the transpersonal consciousness of love. In my own life and teaching I prefer to use the term more specifically connected to the vibrations and qualities of the Christ. The definition then will be: Christ consciousness is the capacity of redemptive love, which is based on identification with both spirit and matter. Let us investigate this definition and what it means to develop Christ consciousness.

Who is the Christ?

The Christ is both a being and a function or task in the divine organism of our planet. As a function the Christ is the heartchakra of our planet. It is a vibration of redemptive love, which has the organic function to give inner life to all hearts and souls inhabiting this planet. This consciousness prevails in the spiritual kingdom on the buddhic level of love-wisdom, and it vibrates as love and life in all souls of human beings. It is like a specific tone of love, which colours all beings on this level, and which gives life to our heartcentres, when we are ready to let our hearts merge with the planetary heart chakra. Christ consciousness is thus our birthright. It is the crown of human evolution.

The Christ as a being is the being who has the task to be the focaliser for the heart chakra. On planet Earth the Lord Buddha was the Christ until 2000 years ago. Then this function was taken over by the being, which we know under names as the Christ, Krishna, or Lord Maitreya. This being is known for his immense quality of redemptive love. He was to manifest the quality of redemption via the principle of divine self-sacrifice, which in Christianity is symbolised as crucifixion. In the New World Impulse he will demonstrate the quality of resurrection via the symbol of the living sun in the heart. Some time within the next 2000 years the close disciple of the Christ, whom we know as the Lord Kuthumi, will be the new Christ on Earth and the Lord Maitreya will take the role which the Lord Buddha has now. He will then be known as the merger of divine will and love and as the merger of the human and spiritual kingdoms, which again is an integrated part of transforming our planet into a sacred planet.

When we attune with the being called the Christ, Krishna, and the Lord Maitreya we may approach via our thoughtforms of e.g. the suffering Christ on the cross. But a deeper atunement will unveil a being of immense love, which is like a whole universe of compassion. This compassion vibrates into every suffering heart, which renders its sorrow and loneliness to God. As you penetrate deeper into the Christ you may find that “he” also is like a glorious sun. In this quality “he” is experienced as flooded by the life of the Sun-spirit. When you get in touch with this quality of “his” being you may be surprised to experience an immense expansion in the whole of your being, as if a sacred fire is flooding you – not from outside, but from the very core of your own spirit via a fiery sun in your heart. By such an experience also the whole of your physical body is permeated by the expansive fire of love. You may also perceive from within the inner meaning of the wording “I am the resurrection and the life”.

On the level of the Solar Logos there also is a Christ. The Solar Christ is the focaliser of the heart of the sun, the heart chakra of the solar being. The Solar Christ is a wonderful being of immense love. This being is both masculine and feminine when compared to our terminology. If you get in touch with the vibration of the Solar Christ you may experience the same combination of the bleeding heart of compassion and the expanding love and life. But also you may find the quality of Life Itself flooding and expanding your being. You may find yourself partaking in the quality of God, which give nourishing life to all planets and souls of the solar system. And you may experience, how qualities of universal love, life and resurrection encompasses all beings within our Solar Logos.

On our path of love we one day will get a little touch of the vibration of the next level in the Christ line. The Cosmic Christ is the heart centre of a Logos, which incorporates more than 20.000 stars. The vibration of the Cosmic Christ again has some similarity with the vibration of the Solar Christ, as if there is a special alignment between these two beings. The quality of Life Itself emanating from the Cosmic Christ can be experienced as so immense, that it activates not only our heart centres, but also the very spirit within every cell and atom of our physical bodies. Due to a special dispensation an attention is directed from this enormous cosmic being to our solar system and our planet in these centuries starting from the end of the 20th century. The vibration of the Cosmic Christ is thus a part of the New World Impulse and will stimulate the Christ Consciousness in the human kingdom throughout the Age of Aquarious.

What is the path to Christ Conscoiusness?

The path to Christ consciousness is a path in which we develop qualities as compassion, individualism and identification. Compassion is on this path developed via the depth of heart suffering such as loneliness, sorrow, and longing for redemption and love. The depth of individualisation is developed by many incarnations, in which we find that we are not part of the social groups in humanity, and we are not either allowed to be naïve children of God. The purpose of individualisation is to become a bridge between the human and the spiritual kingdoms. As such a bridge we will be able both to identify with our fellow brothers and sisters on Earth and with the heart of God.

The path to Christ consciousness is the deeper path of the heart, which also is coloured by the capacity of individuality to take responsibility and to focus divine emanations and creative endeavours in a three-dimensional world. The fulfilment of this path is like the crown of human evolution, because on this path we train the ability to partake in the merging of the human and spiritual kingdoms, the integration of spirit and matter and the fusion of the whole planet with sacred fire. Compared to this path the path of wisdom is a path leading to transcendence as a lofty balance from which we are able to transcend all suffering and darkness.

Initiation and Christ Consciousness

The path to Christ consciousness in integrated in the path of initiation on this planet, but has a special flavour of inner pain, depth of heart, and fire of the soul. The crises of suffering is usually strongest at the phase leading up to the 1st initiation, which is the birth of Christ in the heart. Suffering of the heart may continue as a theme until the 2nd initiation, baptism by fire, but is slowly transformed into partaking in the redemptive love of God. This partaking is the dominant theme at the 3rd initiation, in which the initiate finds himself/herself flooded by the Christ as the lifegiving sun. At he 4th initiation on the path to Christ consciousness we experience the culmination of the path as a capacity to identify with both the human and the spiritual worlds. By this identification we become the living grail of life in which the sacred fire gives life to all creation.

The Illumination of the Self - Evelyn Underhill

In illumination, we come to that state of consciousness which is popularly supposed to be peculiar to the mystic: a form of mental life, a kind of perception, radically different from that of “normal” men. His preceding adventures and experiences cannot be allowed this quality. His awakening to consciousness of the Absolute—though often marked by a splendour and intensity which seem to distinguish it from other psychic upheavals of that kind—does but reproduce upon higher levels those characteristic processes of conversion and falling in love which give depth and actuality to the religious and passional life.

The purification to which he then sets himself—though this possesses as a rule certain features peculiar to mystical development—is again closely related to the disciplines and mortifications of ascetic, but not necessarily mystical, piety. It is the most exalted form with which we are acquainted of that catharsis— that pruning and training of the human plant—which is the essence of all education, and a necessary stage in every kind of transcendence. Here, the mystic does but adopt in a more drastic form the principles which all who would live with an intense life, all seekers after freedom, all true lovers must accept: though he may justly claim with Ophelia that these wear their rue with a difference.

But in the great swing back into sunshine which is the reward of that painful descent into the “cell of self-knowledge,” he parts company with these other pilgrims. Those who still go with him a little way—certain prophets, poets, artists, dreamers do so in virtue of that mystical genius, that instinct for transcendental reality, of which all seers and creators have some trace. The initiates of beauty or of wisdom, as the great mystic is the initiate of love, they share in some degree the experiences of the way of illumination. But the mystic has now a veritable foothold in that transcendental world into which they penetrate now and again: enjoys a certain fellowship—not yet union—with the “great life of the All,” and thence draws strength and peace. Really and actually, as one whose noviciate is finished, he has “entered the Inner Choir, where the Soul joineth hands and danceth with Sophia, the Divine Wisdom”: and, keeping time with the great rhythms of the spiritual universe, feels that he has found his place.

This change of consciousness, however abrupt and amazing it may seem to the self which experiences it, seems to the psychologist a normal phase in that organic process of development which was initiated by the awakening of the transcendental sense. Responding to the intimations received in that awakening, ordering itself in their interest, concentrating its scattered energies on this one thing, the self emerges from long and varied acts of purification to find that it is able to apprehend another order of reality. It has achieved consciousness of a world that was always there, and wherein its substantial being—that Ground which is of God—has always stood. Such a consciousness is “Transcendental Feeling” in excelsis : a deep, intuitional knowledge of the “secret plan.”

“We are like a choir who stand round the conductor,” says Plotinus, “but do not always sing in tune, because their attention is diverted by looking at external things. So we always move round the One—if we did not, we should dissolve and cease to exist—but we do not always look towards the One.” Hence, instead of that free and conscious co-operation in the great life of the All which alone can make personal life worth living, we move like slaves or marionettes, and, oblivious of the whole to which our little steps contribute, fail to observe the measure “whereto the worlds keep time.”

Our minds being distracted from the Corypheus in the midst the “energetic Word” who sets the rhythm, we do not behold Him. We are absorbed in the illusions of sense; the “eye which looks on Eternity” is idle. “But when we do behold Him,” says Plotinus again, “we attain the end of our existence and our rest. Then we no longer sing out of tune, but form a truly divine chorus about Him; in the which chorus dance the soul beholds the Fountain of life, the Fountain of intellect, the Principle of Being, the cause of good the root of soul.” Such a beholding, such a lifting of consciousness from a self-centred to a God-centred world, is of the essence of illumination.

It will be observed that in these passages the claim of the mystic is not yet to supreme communion; the “Spiritual Marriage” of the Christian mystic, or that “flight of the Alone to the Alone” which is the Plotinian image for the utmost bliss of the emancipated soul. He has now got through preliminaries; detached himself from his chief entanglements; re-orientated his instinctive life. The result is a new and solid certitude about God, and his own soul’s relation to God: an “enlightenment” in which he is adjusted to new standards of conduct and thought. In the traditional language of asceticism he is “proficient” but not yet perfect. He achieves a real vision and knowledge, a conscious harmony with the divine World of Becoming: not yet self-loss in the Principle of Life, but rather a willing and harmonious revolution about Him, that “in dancing he may know what is done.”

This character distinguishes almost every first-hand description of illumination: and it is this which marks it off from mystic union in all its forms. All pleasurable and exalted states of mystic consciousness in which the sense of I-hood persists, in which there is a loving and joyous relation between the Absolute as object and the self as subject, fall under the head of Illumination: which is really an enormous development of the intuitional life at high levels. All veritable and first-hand apprehensions of the Divine obtained by the use of symbols, as in the religious life; all the degrees of prayer lying between meditation and the prayer of union; many phases of poetic inspiration and “glimpses of truth,” are activities of the illuminated mind.

To “see God in nature,” to attain a radiant consciousness of the “otherness” of natural things, is the simplest and commonest form of illumination. Most people, under the spell of emotion or of beauty, have known flashes of rudimentary vision of this kind. Where such a consciousness is recurrent, as it is in many poets, there results that partial yet often overpowering apprehension of the Infinite Life immanent in all living things, which some modern writers have dignified by the name of “nature-mysticism.” Where it is raised to its highest denomination, till the veil is obliterated by the light behind, and “faith has vanished into sight,” as sometimes happened to Blake, we reach the point at which the mystic swallows up the poet.

“Dear Sir,” says that great genius in one of his most characteristic letters, written immediately after an onset of the illuminated vision which he had lost for many years, “excuse my enthusiasm, or rather madness, for I am really drunk with intellectual vision whenever I take a pencil or graver into my hand.” Many a great painter, philosopher, or poet, perhaps every inspired musician, has known this indescribable inebriation of Reality in those moments of transcendence in which his masterpieces were conceived. This is the “saving madness” of which Plato speaks in the “Phaedrus”; the ecstasy of the “God-intoxicated man,” the lover, the prophet, and the poet “drunk with life.”

When the Christian mystic, eager for his birthright, says “Sanguis Christi, inebria me!” he is asking for just such a gift of supernal vitality, a draught of that Wine of Absolute Life which runs in the arteries of the world. Those to whom that cup is given attain to an intenser degree of vitality, hence to a more acute degree of perception, a more vivid consciousness, than that which is enjoyed by other men. For though, as Ruysbroeck warns us, this “is not God,” yet it is for many selves “the Light in which we see Him.”

Blake conceived that it was his vocation to bring this mystical illumination, this heightened vision of reality, within the range of ordinary men: to “cleanse the doors of perception” of the race. They thought him a madman for his pains.

“. . . I rest not upon my great task
To open the Eternal Worlds, to open the immortal Eyes
Of Man inwards into the Worlds of Thought: into Eternity
Ever expanding in the Bosom of God, the Human Imagination
O Saviour, pour upon me thy Spirit of meekness and love
Annihilate the Selfhood in me: be Thou all my life.”

Emanationism - Plotinus

Emanationism is an idea in the cosmology or cosmogony of certain religious or philosophical systems. Emanation, from the Latin emanare meaning "to flow from" or "to pour forth or out of", is the mode by which all things are derived from the First Reality, or Principle.

All things are derived from the first reality or perfect God by steps of degradation to lesser degrees of the first reality or God, and at every step the emanating beings are less pure, less perfect, less divine. Emanationism is a transcendent principle from which everything is derived, and is opposed to both Creationism (wherein the universe is created by a sentient God who is separate from creation) and materialism (which posits no underlying subjective and/or ontological nature behind phenomena being immanent).

Emanationism is a cosmological theory which asserts that all things "flow" from an underlying principle or reality, usually called the Absolute or Godhead. Any teachings which involve emanation are usually in opposition to creation ex nihilo as emanation advocates that everything has always existed and has not been "created" from nothing.

Underlying the worldview of traditional cosmology is the idea that the universe is an emanation of a unitary divine principle. Although this idea has been blended with the revealed creationist doctrines of the major monotheistic religions, orthodox theologians have generally regarded it with suspicion. They have relegated it to the shadowy spheres of mysticism, pantheism, and the occult, which have always been at odds with orthodoxy. The traditional view is summed in the doctrine of emanation formulated by Plotinus.

The primary classical exponent of emanationism was Plotinus, wherein his work, the Enneads, all things phenomenal and otherwise were an emanation from the One (hen). In Ennead 5.1.6, emanationism is compared to a diffusion from the One, of which there are three primary hypostases, the One (ἕν, hen), the Intellect/Will (νοῦς, nous), and the Soul (ψυχὴ τοῦ παντός, psyche tou pantos). For Plotinus, emanation, or the "soul's descent", is a result of the Indefinite Dyad, the primordial agnosis inherent to and within the Absolute, the Godhead.

Emanationism is a common teaching found in occult, esoteric and metaphysical writings. According to (Owen, 2005): Theosophy draws on Neoplatonic emanationism, in particular the concept of separation from and return to the Absolute, and reworks the Eastern concepts of karma and reincarnation to provide an evolutionary theory of both humankind and the universe.

Theosophy teaches that human beings and all organisms including animals and all matter "flow" from a pure spiritual formation in the absolute to a material one over time to become materialised but later will return to the absolute after the cosmic cycle of life.

As Morgan summarises: "The Secret Doctrine laid out an emanationist view of the development of the physical universe, a process of ebb and flow in which spirit gradually unfolded itself in matter, attaining consciousness, and returning to spirit in a higher and more realised form." According to the emanationist cosmology of Madame Blavatsky all monads emerge from divine unity at the beginning of a cosmic cycle and return to this source at its close.

Samael Aun Weor had taught emanationism from his studies with the Kabbalah and Gnosticism. He mapped out a complex esoteric cosmology with matter flowing from different planes of existence all existing in the absolute. As (Dawson, 2007) comments:

As with esoteric thought in general, Weor holds that the universe originated in the ordering activity of the absolute upon chaotic primordial matter, giving rise to (emanating) the subsequent planes of the created order (Pleroma).

The Elements and Their Inhabitants
by Manly P. Hall

Certain of the ancients, differing with Paracelsus, shared the opinion that the elemental kingdoms were capable of waging war upon one another, and they recognized in the battlings of the elements disagreements among these kingdoms of Nature spirits.

When lightning struck a rock and splintered it, they believed that the salamanders were attacking the gnomes. As they could not attack one another on the plane of their own peculiar etheric essences, owing to the fact that there was no vibratory correspondence between the four ethers of which these kingdoms are composed. They had to attack through a common denominator, namely, the material substance of the physical universe over which they had a certain amount of power.

Wars were also fought within the groups themselves; one army of gnomes would attack another army, and civil war would be rife among them. Philosophers of long ago solved the problems of Nature’s apparent inconsistencies by individualizing and personifying all its forces, crediting them with having temperaments not unlike the human and then expecting them to exhibit typical human inconsistencies.

The four fixed signs of the zodiac were assigned to the four kingdoms of elementals. The gnomes were said to be of the nature of Taurus; the undines, of the nature of Scorpio; the salamanders exemplified the constitution of Leo; while the sylphs manipulated the emanations of Aquarius. The sylphs were changeable entities, passing to and fro with the rapidity of lightning. They work through the gases and ethers of the earth and are kindly disposed toward human beings. They are nearly always represented as winged, sometimes as tiny cherubs and at other times as delicate fairies.

The Christian Church gathered all the elemental entities together under the title of demon. This is a misnomer with far-reaching consequences, for to the average mind the word demon means an evil thing, and the Nature spirits are essentially no more malevolent than are the minerals, plants, and animals. Many of the early Church Fathers asserted that they had met and debated with the elementals.

As already stated, the Nature spirits are without hope of immortality, although some philosophers have maintained that in isolated cases immortality was conferred upon them by adepts and initiates who understood certain subtle principles of the invisible world. As disintegration takes place in the physical world, so it takes place in the ethereal counterpart of physical substance. Under normal conditions at death, a Nature spirit is merely resolved back into the transparent primary essence from which it was originally individualized. Whatever evolutionary growth is made is recorded solely in the consciousness of that primary essence, or element, and not in the temporarily individualized entity of the elemental.

Being without man’s compound organism and lacking his spiritual and intellectual vehicles, the Nature spirits are subhuman in their rational intelligence, but from their functions – limited to one element – has resulted a specialized type of intelligence far ahead of man in those lines of research peculiar to the element in which they exist.

The terms incubus and succubus have been applied indiscriminately by the Church Fathers to elementals. The incubus and succubus, however, are evil and unnatural creations, whereas elementals is a collective term for all the inhabitants of the four elemental essences. According to Paracelsus, the incubus and succubus (which are male and female respectively) are parasitical creatures subsisting upon the evil thoughts and emotions of the astral body.

These terms are also applied to the superphysical organisms of sorcerers and black magicians. While these larvae are in no sense imaginary beings, they are, nevertheless, the offspring of the imagination. By the ancient sages they were recognized as the invisible cause of vice because they hover in the ethers surrounding the morally weak and continually incite them to excesses of a degrading nature.

For this reason they frequent the atmosphere of the dope den, the dive, and the brothel, where they attach themselves to those unfortunates who have given themselves up to iniquity. By permitting his senses to become deadened through indulgence in habit-forming drugs or alcoholic stimulants, the individual becomes temporarily en rapport with these denizens of the astral plane. The houris seen by the hasheesh or opium addict and the lurid monsters which torment the victim of delirium tremens are examples of submundane beings, visible only to those whose evil practices are the magnet for their attraction.

Differing widely from the elementals and also the incubus and succubus is the vampire, which is defined by Paracelsus as the astral body of a person either living or dead (usually the latter state). The vampire seeks to prolong existence upon the physical plane by robbing the living of their vital energies and misappropriating such energies to its own ends.

In his De Ente Spirituali Paracelsus writes thus of these malignant beings: “A healthy and pure person cannot become obsessed by them, because such Larvae can only act upon men if the later make room for them in their minds. A healthy mind is a castle that cannot be invaded without the will of its master; but if they are allowed to enter, they excite the passions of men and women, they create cravings in them, they produce bad thoughts which act injuriously upon the brain; they sharpen the animal intellect and suffocate the moral sense.

Evil spirits obsess only those human beings in whom the animal nature is predominating. Minds that are illuminated by the spirit of truth cannot be possessed; only those who are habitually guided by their own lower impulses may become subjected to their influences.” (See Paracelsus, by Franz Hartmann.)

A strange concept, and one somewhat at variance with the conventional, is that evolved by the Count de Gabalis concerning the immaculate conception, namely, that it represents the union of a human being with an elemental. Among the offspring of such unions he lists Hercules, Achilles, Æneas, Theseus, Melchizedek, the divine Plato, Apollonius of Tyana, and Merlin the Magician.

From “The Secret Teachings of All Ages”

By the way, this is a good old classic:

http://readcentral.com/chapters/Herman-Hesse/Siddhartha

"Deeply, Govinda bowed; tears he knew nothing of, ran down his old face; like a fire burnt the feeling of the most intimate love, the humblest veneration in his heart. Deeply, he bowed, touching the ground, before him who was sitting motionlessly, whose smile reminded him of everything he had ever loved in his life, what had ever been valuable and holy to him in his life."

I would like to read it now I actually have some way to understand. I first read it when I was a teenager and it was more like something impressive that was far out of my reach. Or I knew he was onto something but just wasn't ready for it yet.

The translation isn't that good, but I remember that passage. Hesse seems like someone who was quite influenced by psychedelics. Very femine and heart-centered sort of writer.

Out of all that, the principle of emanation is perhaps the most clearly explained. Religions have corrupted the meaning of many of the other concepts to the point of being unusable from a mystical viewpoint.

Manley P. Hall's viewpoint on drugs is outright offensive, he completely glosses over the principles of intent with their use. Something he was well aware of.

There is a universe of difference between the intent of a dissipated, disenchanted soul using drugs to escape the realities of their own existence, and someone using them to expand their consciousness.

It is not a path for everyone, it takes a tremendous amount of intestinal fortitude to take a drug with the focused intent of having a mystical experience. It is however, a valid means of temporarily entering the world of the mystic and magician. Intent in this case, is extremely important, as once you take the drug, you will be going on that journey. There is no wishy-washy might have been about it.

This is most likely the reason that shamanism has been around for most of our history, it gives unquestionable results.

Hall would have been aware, and was probably a chronic abuser, he looked crazier and crazier with age. I think he was just writing from a snobbish/over-class perspective or the way he viewed common people and drug-use. Which was considered something completely different from those who were in the position to use it in a civilised way, or still be able to take care of themselves and their family and have some control of their drug-use, etc. And it still seems pretty much that way, or another law for the rich.

I should mention that when I say outright offensive, I am thinking in terms of a raised monocle and 17th century harummph! Heheeheh.
A lot of that was quite good reading, and I appreciate you taking the time to post it.

Empowerment Through The Goddess

On earth, the divine feminine has been overlooked, misunderstood, misjudged, misrepresented, and undermined. It has been missed. Little has been known of the names of the feminine masters. Within the natural trinity of the father, son, and the holy spirit there has been an omission of the mother aspect as the other half of the personality of deity. In truth, we believe that the holy spirit is the feminine face of God.

We also view the "Son" as the sons and daughters or the children of the creator. Our view of the son is the Christ principle (sons and daughters) which go forth into the world carrying the wisdom of a harmony and balance of love and power.

The time is now ripe for the return of the mother principle in the spiritually evolving population on earth. Christ consciousness is returning to earth. This consciousness recognises wholeness and holiness, within diversity. It recognises the law of the one and it understands the riddle of the one and the many. This is the time when it's time once again to feel the presence of God as brought by the holy spirit.

In order to step into mastery and unity consciousness everyone must feel the fullness of the spectrum of source. Becoming source-realised requires the convergense of harmonies. When God is real to us, the consciousness of separation dississipates, and with it the deep chasm of duality seen on earth. It is important to remember that for something to be real, we need to have a real experience of something witin our heart. Then it can become real for us.

We enter an unpredecented acceleration, and unique opportunity for planetary and personal transformation, and a transition of consciousness designed to assist us to leave polarity and separation behind. If we are embracing the wholeness of unity consciousness here on earth, it is imperative that we familiarise ourselves with the dual nature of the Godhead. We have to bring the heart into a gentle focus with the mind and balance the feminine and masculine within us. It is now the hour of the return of the paradise vibration, after millions of separation, lack and pain. It is time to feel the way into our heart.

This book will trace many things about the mother principle. For those who are first learning about her, this book may be a revelation. For those who have begun to embrace her and align with her, it will be an honouring and an activation. An ordination of the heart. Within the unfolding pages, she will tell her story in many of her own words for the benefit of humankind, for we are ready to listen to the voice of love. With the eyes of the heart we can see her. With the ears of the heart we can now listen. For too long earth's population has experienced the imbalance of power over love on earth. Now it is time for her to speak, and we provide her with the heart-space to pour love's radiance upon you.

Please know that although we speak of the return of the mother principle to earth, in truth, complete withdrawal of the mother would have resulted in a collapse of planet earth. If this aspect of God were truly missing, there would be no life, and no planet to incarnate on. Earth would have rolled up into itself like a worn-out rug and ceized to be. We shall take a look at what is meant by the return of the mother. We shall also see how the royal plan of God places power and will to be drawn with love as a guiding beacon.

We ask our readers to read, as the mother says, with the eyes of the heart. As we embrace her more and more, we will learn to become the love that we are. She is total forgiveness and fully unconditional in her love. As we piece together the feminine parts of the puzzle that have been omitted and lost within our consciousness and within histories, we are about the business of our God-parents, resurrecting and restoring the truth.

Let the lady masters come forth and shine. Through them, the love principle flows a strong current of energy. They are the carriers of pure love. They fill the spectrum from the cosmic down through the planetary levels, working for the good of all. If we open our hearts to them, we become, in essence, a true God focus on earth.

As the mother begins to flow more and more through us, no words need to be spoken. We will then find ourselves living within the sanctuary of the heart, sitting face to face with the beloved within us, embracing all with love divine. Perhaps at that time we will join the celestial choirs and simply sing the praises of the One.

"Beloved, you are everywhere! Seekers seek - but I can never escape. What is real but You alone? If I reach out my hand your embrace smothers me with the strength of 10,000 mothers in a crush that will never end. So much pressure, my soul bursts free of my body and we are one in the rainclouds that drive away the drought of inspiration.

Seek not, oh lovers, but love. Now without signs, without rituals, lick the tulips from Gods window for the angels cannot wait. Come now! For the heart of the friend is flowing, rich and poor alike. And no one is exempt from His divine charity! Allah! Blessed was the day I pissed myself in the streets and cried Your name. It was the day I became sane."

I don't know where this mystical poem is from? But I've read it before (and liked it for obvious reasons).

Vernon Howard

You Are The Enemy Bomber Pilot
"For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."
"But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb -a fool returns to his folly."
~New Testament
There is permanent and absolute enmity between God and Satan. We’re going to talk tonight about a subject that is so deep both psychologically and spiritually and physically that when I'm all through with the talk you will not have grasped it, but you may be in a new state of slight shock whereby you will see the necessity of you working in your own personal inner-work to understand it thoroughly.
Before I get into it though, I'm going to read you some Bible verses. Just two of them, upon which everything we’re going to talk about is based. This is from Second Peter 2:21 and 22. And when I read it, will you please recall the previous remarks I have made many hundreds of times in this room about those who have a taste of truth and then reject it, and then depart because they prefer their own sickness to spiritual health.

I've been talking about what's in the New Testament all along for all these years. Everything I said was right in this verse here—two verses. Let me read them to you. "For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."

Could it be put more clearer than that about the doom? Yes. Yes, and the damnation of those who would rather worship themselves than God. And all those who don't worship God do worship themselves and they are doomed.

And the second verse, "But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb a fool returns to his folly." That means that a person can encounter something that is different from himself, that is higher than himself and dimly recognize it and yet feel it as a threat to his present existence which he calls the only existence and the one, therefore, that he must protect and cling to at all costs.

That is his folly. Because he didn't come back to get the explanation of why he walked out on God and walked straight back into his own hell. Because he or she did not want to come back because he has made his commitment to flames.

You can almost tell by their facial expression, can't you? You see them, maybe you talk to them sometimes. You can see that very subtle hardness on their face. You can see even while you're talking to them about the eternal truths of the ages they’re looking up around the room. They can't hear. They don't want to hear.

All right. Almost every man or woman on earth is dedicated—dedicated—his whole life is dedicated to the destruction of righteousness, goodness; is dedicated to trying to keep his darkness—make it appear his darkness appears light. And to do that he must try to destroy the true light.
Now I said, that his life, her life is dedicated to doing that. Now you can't understand this because you say, "Well, I don't see my neighbor, I don't see my friends or relatives, I don't see them getting up and giving speeches and writing books and raging against religious principles. I don't see them throwing rocks at churches.”

“I see them cutting their lawn on Saturday afternoon. I see them having parties in their backyard. I see them getting married and having children. I see them growing older. I see them engaged in their business practices.”

“How do you reconcile what I see when I look out at human activities with the fact that you just said that their whole life, their whole intention is dedicated to the ruination of the little bit of light that's able to present itself in this world?”

First of all, to see this you must understand what unconsciousness is. Now you don't understand it. So I have to explain it to you. Unconsciousness is the way you live, express your life because you’re a spiritually asleep human being. To be asleep is to be unconscious. It is the same thing. Now when you're asleep in your bed you don't know you're asleep in your bed. You don't know you're asleep when you sleep, do you? It's all one thing.
Now when you're spiritually asleep and therefore hostile against truth which you are, you don't know you are. A raging tornado whirling around the Texas plains, wrecking the villages, destroying people and property and cattle, that tornado has no consciousness that it's a tornado. It is its destructiveness and that's all there is.

Now a tornado-like human being, which is the same thing as being an evil human being, doesn't just think about evil, about doing bad things, about hurting other people, he doesn't think about that only, but it is him. And there's nothing outside of that.

See if you can make a quick connection before I go on with the fact that there's nothing good but God. How could a tornado be anything but a horrible expression of an evil force? It has to be bad, right? So all asleep, unconscious, unseen, unknowing human beings are nothing but evil because evil is an unknowing of the spiritual life. They're the same thing. And that's all there is.

You can't go up to a tornado and try to be moral to it and tell it, “Don’t you see what you're doing? You've got to stop this. You can't go around ruining homes and killing people and caring them off. It's wrong to do that.” The tornado won't hear you.

Exactly the same with men and women. You're wasting your breath with the majority of people trying to stop them from being so vicious and cruel. And getting little advantages so they can get a little thrill.

You can't talk to them at all because you can't talk spiritual language to a person who only understands the language of darkness and of hell and of ruination.

Now all this must be connected with your personal life because you’re here to stop being what you now are. Now let's see if I can give you a little minor jolt at this point. I said that all human beings are nothing but destructive storms, tornadoes. That means if you're not a tornado then you do good things. And I want you to tell yourself and me what good things you do.

You don't do them in the first place because you don't know what they are because they belong to the spiritual level. The only good you can now perform is that which is backed up by your self-interest. You want something out of being what you call good.

And so you say, “I'm a good citizen because I vote. Or I'm a good neighbor because we both agree not to throw leaves in each other's yard.” You've got your mechanical moralities. You've got your idea of what it means to be good which means that you're not good.

Think of the word then, as a key thought to what we’re talking about, think of the key word, phrase that you don't know what you are doing with yourself and with your life. You have settled down to the temporary satisfactions of the senses—the satisfaction of the senses—the taste of good food and listening to the music sites that please you. You settle down and say, “This is the extent of human life on earth. However, there is something in you that contradicts that that you won't allow to rise up so that you can study it and become a whole human being.

In spite of all the pleasures that you try to collect, your sports, and things you like to think about, in spite of that there is indeed something else inside of you which is making you terribly miserable.

That's the unconscious part of you. That's the dark part. And you don't pay attention to it and that is why you don't wake up. You don't pay attention to
the awfulness of you as you are.

Take just one. Let's select just one again. The idea of you being afraid— which you are. You know very well how anxious and nervous and terrified you are. Now how can you say that you have a good life when you have a fearful life? To be fearful is bad, not good.

And so you try to collect all the pleasures you can in order to blot out the fact that you are a very fearful human being.

Fear of what? Growing older? Fear of not collecting what you want to collect. Fear of losing what you've already got. And most of all, the fear that you haven't the slightest notion of what you're supposed to be doing every day. And you're so wrongly grateful for the imposition of the eight hour day that the boss makes you work, or the necessities that you have to do so that you can say, “That is what is important. That is what I have to do. I have to do it, therefore there must be some virtue in it.”

There's no virtue at all in compulsion. You could go to work and not feel it as a compulsion if you were a free human being.

Now let's start all over lest you lose it, the dreadful horrible fact that everyone you're going to meet tomorrow—let's make it a full day of meeting and seeing people. Whether you see them on the street or on the TV set, every one of those human beings is dedicated to destroying goodness. Real goodness. Real morality. Therefore, if you have decided to be a part of real goodness, spiritual goodness then that person is dedicated to destroying you and everyone else.

It's interesting that there's no quota of morality around common criminals nor among psychic criminals either. They all get their reward from hurting, from attacking. By saying anything that would give them a false sense of superiority or of power.

Maybe you've noticed in your own personal life how you have used, you have used something evil, the word, the attitude, secret thought, how you have used evil things in order to give yourself a thrill.

And the reason you wanted the thrill is because you know, you know that you're lost but you have never understood it and you don't want to understand it because you're afraid that there might not be anything beyond the pleasure of you being lost.

Think about that. People actually get a sick joy in feeling anything connected with being a lost human being including hatred.
Now the word unconsciousness has been given to you three times now and you're to conclude it as follows. “I am unconscious to the astonishingly shocking fact that everybody hates everybody else. I don't understand it.” And you don't want to understand it.

All right. I'll give you another chance. Conscienceless people hate everybody else. Because in the desperation of the individual ego to see itself as being supreme, the supreme commander, it cannot possibly tolerate or recognize any other human being as also being a supreme commander. And so it's either the overt or the subtle scheme to destroy.

Nobody has a conscience. Nobody is good. Nobody cares two cents about anyone else. Everyone takes their direction from hell. That's where they turn their ears when they want to know what to do next. No decency whatever. And your safety lies in understanding that.

Oh, I'd better tell you, it's very dangerous to be a bad man; very dangerous to be a bad woman. You’ve had personal experiences with that. You’ve been hurt by other people not just because they were evil, but because you were. It is your badness that is a hazard to your welfare. Your badness.
Because you see—now this is the fourth time I've told you this—badness is unconscious. That means it doesn't see. It doesn't know. It doesn't understand.

It is like the tornado that doesn't think, “Should I knock down that house and destroy the people or not?” It doesn't think things like that at all. It just acts. It just does it.

One image—it's too much for you. Maybe 10 years from now you'll understand this talk. One desired self-image on the part of a human being can lead that human being to murdering millions of human beings.

The dictator of the country, the general with his campaign ribbons and medals, he wants to go down in history. He thinks of all the other despots and dictators.

“Let's see. If I can do something to start a war, promotions go up pretty fast in a war, don't they? The sergeant can become a captain easy enough, and then on up.”

In order to promote, add to and solidify the image of being a great leader, great military commander, like all the others in the history books, to satisfy that self-picture—you won't get it. It's too horrible. It's too horrible. You can't take when I'm telling you. And I want to tell you that you can't take what I'm telling you, so that you won't think you understand it. You don’t.

To satisfy that one devilish ambition, to have his picture in the history books, that man will murder millions of human beings.

Let me ask you a question. What would you think of a man who liked to torture and kill little children? What would you think of a man—what would you think of your neighbor down the street there if you saw him going over to the playground and hiding out a little bit so he wouldn’t get caught, and he threw rocks at little kids playing. Hit them in the head. Hurt them real bad. Maybe threw big rocks at them; knocked them down. Made them cry, made them scream.

Wouldn't you say that he's an insane human being? Wouldn’t you say he's motivated by satanic forces? Wouldn't you? I mean, what would you call him? You’d call him a mad man. A destroyer. No goodness, no decency. A hater.

You don't know that's it! That's what goes on all the time. Everybody is doing it to everybody including you. Yes! Now make that 20 years before you have the courage to face and understand what I'm talking about.

Any human being who wants to gain that greedy promotion in any way—business—yes, in business. Anyone who wants to see his name in the paper, anyone who wants to get that extra money, anyone who wants to be thought of well by his neighbors—he's tormenting little children.

Look, see, follow the illustration a little more. When a bomb drops on London or Berlin or Tokyo, doesn't it automatically include adults as well as little kids? Four and five-year-old girls, boys, doesn’t it? You've read history books. You've seen the newsreels on television and the movies.

A human being—see, you're being logical now—some human being—no! No. No. Not some human being. Dozens, hundreds—I don't know if you can take this. Thousands of human beings agreed to start the war. Therefore, every one of them is a child torturer. Every one of them is a child murderer. As well as the millions of adults.

The firebombs rain down on the enemy city, and afterward there were a hundred thousand people dead, twenty-five thousand children burned. Seven-year-old girl sleeping in a cramped room with her mother because all the rest of the houses were destroyed by previous bombings. That seven-year-old girl, the bomb comes down and scalds her and burns her and she screams for 10 days before she dies in agony.

As if anyone cares! Justify it! Lie about it! And most of all, don't ever print stories like that in the newspaper, the story I just told you. Don’t ever put that in there. Instead, instead glorify the war. And be sure above all you call it a war of liberation, war of freedom. A war for human rights.
Oh, better tell you something. You know that mother who was sleeping with her seven-year-old daughter, you know that mother there? She murdered her daughter.

To understand that you have to understand levels. That mother was a member of the party. The party that wanted the war. She was one of the helpers. She didn't wear a uniform but she gave doughnuts to the soldiers at the railroad station when they came in. And she was proud of that.
That woman murdered her own daughter with her unconscious ignorance and devilish preference for her own false images. And because she did not want God in her life, she wanted Satan and that's who she served; therefore, that mother is not only responsible for the death of her own daughter, but she shares a responsibility for the death of everyone ever killed in the whole war—millions. She's responsible.

Oh, no. You know very well if there were a million decent people, which don't exist, if there were a million decent people and they told the dozen war mongers, “You're not going to start this war. You're not going to get us involved in that.” The war wouldn't start because the million would stop the twelve.

The million backs up the twelve and the twelve know that. Because they're going to give them rewards. “We’re going to win the war. And our country, which was so humiliated after the last war, we’re going to arise from the ashes and we’re going to be one of the leading countries of the world and you're going to be one of the leading citizens. We’re going to give you something to be proud of!” And a million devils fall for it.

Haven't you seen them? Of course, you’ve seen them. You know what they do? They cheer when that speech is given. They got to their feet, and they applaud for 15 straight minutes at the speaker saying, “We’re going to get revenge on those people who denied us our rightful place in this world.”
And then a hundred miles away, the leader of the other country says the same thing and denounces the opposite country. And now you've got two million insane human beings at each other's throats. No one, no one wants God.

You see, you've heard many times that you have to study spiritual truths, right? You have to make notes during a talk and you have to read books and listen to tapes. And you have to connect your daily experiences of what we’re talking about. You have to study the nature of God, of goodness, of spirituality, of a change of nature. You have to study all those things. That's good. That's right. That's true.

You must also, you must equally study Satan, deviltry, hellish human beings, darkness. You have to study them both. And those who stay devilish, and become the destroyers are those who never study themselves. Isn't that a perfect place to start? With yourself.
Listen, listen to the devils scream and hate, and walk out, walk out on truth when you tell them that that's what they have to do. Watch the expression on their faces.

Now, there is something else. There's something that should go on inside of you now that I've told you a bit about the depths. There is something that can happen in you that knows what true sincerity is. Not false sincerity. What true sincerity is.

Which is for you to want to know more about both sides: God and Satan. Study both. Alternate more or less so that you come to a point finally, where you know that there's no hope for you as you are, outside of God Himself. Your friends and neighbors won't want that. They want their brand of salvation which is simply to go on to the next evil and the next sickness. That's their idea of salvation, to continue to be a wicked low-level human being. That's their idea of getting by.

You're supposed to be someone here in this room now that says something like this. “I don't care how bad it seems when I examine my own sickness and evil. I don't care how bad it seems, I'm going to explore it on and on and on, and I am never going to agree that I've exhausted my understanding, my investigation of evil. That it's an ongoing thing all the time.”

And if you do that, I'll tell you what will happen to you. Among big shocks you’ll get little shocks. And sometimes it's the little ones that wake you up very fast.

You're doing business somewhere. Something comes up, some little thing and you would never—I'm going to deliberately embarrass you. You watch and see what happens. You had a chance to steal a dime off the counter of that business shop. No one knows it's there. You say, “I can have that dime.” So you push it over your way and you put the dime in your pocket.

Do you want to be saved? You're going to have to go through that. What you're going to have to go through is seeing that you wanted that dime. That's what controlled your whole life. That dime! I'm talking about ten cents. And if you don't know yet that that's the way you are, that's the way you are! Ten cents! If you don't know that that's you, you’re long ways from being saved.

You watch your behaviors. Carry it on from the dime to something mental maybe. Some thought that you thought. You men disrobing the girls and getting them into your imaginary bedroom. Sick things like that.

And then maybe you’ll remember what I said tonight, about the fact that there's—the way this life unfolds is total dedication by the human race to the destruction of the human race.

You know, maybe the question came up into your mind, if it didn't, I'll give it to you. It's a good question. You maybe hear all these things I'm talking about and you say, “Oh, come on. I don't understand. Why would—you said that everybody except a few—whose been called by God, by the way—everybody except a few are dedicated in their insanity to the destruction of the human race. Now why would anyone,”—see, you’re asking—“Why would anyone do that? What are they getting out of it? What are they getting out of it? I mean, people like rewards, don’t they? Why would they do that? What are they getting out of it?”

I answered the question one way, and I'll give you the second half of the answer in a minute. The first answer as to what are they getting out of it, what they are getting out of it is the pleasure of destruction itself. See, if a tornado could feel it, a tornado would feel destruction in being a tornado. There's a pleasure of destroying other people.

Now, I can understand how you can find it very difficult to understand how anyone could be that degraded and that low. You don't know how low everyone is. If the laws were removed, if they were told you'll get a medal for killing twenty thousand people by dropping a bomb on them, what would happen to their so-called—the morality of your neighbor down the street that you think is such a nice man. He waves at you every time he goes by. You’ll say, “That man is not a bomb dropper.” He is. He just hasn't had the opportunity.
And oh, how bitter and hateful he is that he wasn't born at the right time so that he could have become first the sergeant and then the captain and get all those medals.

So, the answer to what they’re getting out of it is the fact that they’re getting out of it is a continuation of what they are, and they're satisfied with death. Dead humans are in love with being dead.

The other part is there is a sensing in sickos, evilers, there is a sensing of goodness, of truth and rightness. Not a conscious knowledge of it, which is quite another thing, but a recognition of it. Recognition without acceptance.

Therefore, the thing from hell, since it is from hell, its foremost and only love is a love of flames, of heat and smoke and high temperatures, blazing fires. That's what it lives off of, hate, violence, destruction. And it gets more of that just by being what it is—a devil.
Now keep bringing yourself into the talk as follows. You're going to have to break through. You're going to have to enter into the vast underground cavern we’re talking about. I want you to from now on, know when you go into a false elation, a false pleasure.

The dime is sitting there on the counter. The clerk, you know the clerk doesn't even know it's there. The previous customer left it there and there's no way he can even see you pick it up and slip it in your pocket.

You know what that represents? Stealing that dime, taking that dime represents? It represents you proving that after all, everybody said you were powerless and weak and defeated. “I outwitted that man. I got that dime. I took it up. I of myself. I defeated the whole world and I got it. That proves that I'm all right. That I'm powerful.”

Isn’t it too bad—this thought occurred to me and I'll pass along to you. Isn't it too bad that words are so limited. But the good part of it is, in describing the awfulness of these things—but the good part of it is you can go on from the words to the experience and you must do that.
You've had a sensing during this talk tonight. I know you have. It's impossible for you not to have the feeling that I'm talking about you.
You remember the dime incident? Remember it? Sure you do. What did you get out of it? “Yeah, they've been doing that to me. Well, I'm going to do it to them for once. It's my turn.” And now you're sunk deeper into hell.

See, I told you this is the food of delirious, lying, low-down, sneaky hypocritical human beings. Their pleasure is in always being and repeating their own nature and they want nothing more than that.

You know, when you go out in the world tomorrow, you go to a store or something, and you accidentally bump your shopping cart into that woman coming the other way. And you’re both looking and you bump in the cart. You’re both a little shocked. You turn around, and you smile at each other, right? A little polite smile. “Sorry.” You’re both saying, “Sorry,” with a little smile. That's okay. That's all right. Now listen to me. This is so deep.
You bumped your shopping cart into the woman and she smiled at you and you smiled at her. May God have mercy on you, and help you to rise above yourself if you think there's more to it than simple ordinary social courtesy.

We’re not against the ordinary politeness and decencies of everyday life. As a matter of fact, do more of them. But you can't do more of them until you're a conscious human being. But here's the main point. You’ve been doing that sort of thing for 30, 40, 50 years. And because you want to believe that when you smiled at that woman when your shopping carts bumped together, you want to believe that little nice pleasant smile you put on your face is evidence that you're a Christian, say. That you’re pleasant. Little things don't upset you. You can handle little unexpected crises.

And you're going to remember that incident where you were—see, you're so desperate to find evidence that you're decent—which you’re never going to find, by the way because you're not decent. But you want to manufacture the image of being decent by remembering that. “Our carts bumped. We smiled. I'm nice. I’m pleasant.”

And then you repeat that over and over a hundred times, thousands of times and collect them all into one grand image which you believe in and say, “You see, I'm not bad. I'm good. I did give a dollar to the collection for the boss's birthday.” The smile in the supermarket, the dollar the for the boss's birthday, the little wave to the other driver when two little things courtesies came up and you waved at the other driver.

Now let me tell you the trouble with having a goodness like that. When you die, you're going to die. You're the only person on the face of this earth who thought that that made you good. God didn't believe it. God saw through your hypocrisy.

See, you, you wanted to be a good person from yourself and for your own egotistical benefits. And you can write a long list of all the good things you've done, right? So did that woman sleeping with her seven-year-old daughter in the big town that was bombed. She gave donuts to the soldiers. “I'm a good person.”

And by the way, and she screams out, “Why does this happen? What's the matter with human beings? My daughter has been murdered. And I've been wounded badly and I've been a good person. I’m not a part of the madness. I gave donuts to the soldiers. And I smiled to the woman who I bumped at the supermarket.”

The only way you're ever going to be saved by God, by Christ—use that word if you want, that's fine—the only way you're going to be saved is to break up and shatter mercilessly, once and for all, all your phony, lying, hypocritical beliefs in yourself that you're all right as you now are.

And you’ll remember, you'll remember your so-called goodness as so-called evidence. Now you have to search around for more and more and more. And I'll tell you, here's a clue. Your desperation to find evidence that you're good will never come to an end until you see that you have built your own, your own ideas of what it means to be a Christian, to be Godly, to be good, to be a child of God. You’ve built your own ideas of that. Including the dollar for the boss and the supermarket.

And you won't see that you yourself, yes you, and you and you. You were the cause of those bombs that killed a hundred thousand people in the raid and tormented and tortured those twenty-five thousand little children; many of them finally died screaming from burns, from the shrapnel.
When you know that you bombed that city, and you are responsible for it, then and only then does God have a chance to save you.
You're so far gone. Everybody is so far gone. Nobody—I tell you, this is a fact. Nobody has a chance unless they come here to every meeting. You've no chance at all. None. None. Gone. Forget it. If you don't come here to every meeting you're gone.

You're going to bomb the city and then have the nerve to say that you had nothing to do with it. Your nature had everything to do with your petty hatreds and your greeds, and your fears. Your fears dropped those bombs.

If you will go through the cleansing and purifying process of knowing that you are the enemy bomber you will one day never, never again climb into that airplane.

And then, by the way, oh, oh please how marvelous. One day you will know what it means to be forgiven for making those bombing runs every night for the last 50 years, 40 years. How old are you?
God will forgive you for every child you ever hurt, for every human being you ever destroyed. God will forgive you when you give him a chance to forgive you; and your forgiveness comes when you are no longer you but someone else created by God.

I can't stop reading The Aquarian Gospel I just found.

It's so moving and seems like it would have been his original words that were drastically altered. As in not including even a tenth of them and changing it in both form and meaning. The way he expressed himself was so humble and uplifting, nothing like what you usually get to hear.

You can't really object to any of it. Many of these expressions can also be found in our culture.

5) If one is full of love he can do nothing else than worship God; for God is love.
6) If one is full of love, he cannot kill; he cannot falsely testify; he cannot covet; can do naught but honor God and man.
7) If one is full of love he does not need commands of any kind.

22) When man sees God as one with him, as Father-God, he needs no middle man, no priest to intercede;
23) He goes straight up to him and says, My Father-God! and then he lays his hand in God's own hand, and all is well.

Pray, what is faith?
26) And Jesus said,
Faith is the surety of the omnipotence of God and man; the certainty that man will reach the deific life.
27) Salvation is a ladder reaching from the heart of man to heart of God.
28 ) It has three steps; Belief is first, and this is what man thinks, perhaps, is truth.
29) And faith is next, and this is what man knows is truth.
30) Fruition is the last, and this is man himself, the truth.
31) Belief is lost in faith; and in fruition is lost; and man is saved when he has reached deific life; when he and God are one.

19) When you would offer sacrifice unto our God, just take your gift of grain, or meat and lay it on the table of the poor.
20) From it an incense will arise to heaven, which will return to you with blessedness.
21) Tear down your idols; they can hear you not; turn all your sacrificial altars into fuel for the flames.
22) Make human hearts your altars, and burn your sacrifices with the fire of love.
23) And all the people were entranced, and would have worshiped Jesus as a God; but Jesus said,
24) I am your brother man just come to show the way to God; you shall not worship man; praise God, the Holy One.

18 ) Where is the kingdom? where the king? Who are the subjects? what its laws?
19) And Jesus said,
This kingdom is not far away, but man with mortal eyes can see it not; it is within the heart.
20) You need not seek the king in earth, or sea, or sky; he is not there, and yet is everywhere. He is the Christ of God; is universal love.
21) The gate of this dominion is not high, and he who enters it must fall down on his knees. It is not wide, and none can carry carnal bundles through.
22) The lower self must be transmuted into spirit-self; the body must be washed in living streams of purity.

8 ) And Jesus was entranced; such beauty he had never seen; such music he had never heard.
9) The maiden sung her songs; she did not seem to know that anyone was near; she went her way.
10) And Jesus, talking with himself, said out, What is the meaning of this incident? I did not know that such entrancing beauty and such queen-like loveliness were ever found among the sons of men.
11) I did not know that voice of angel ever graced a human form, or that seraphic music ever came from human lips.
12) For days he sat entranced; the current of his thoughts was changed; he thought of nothing but the singer and her songs.
13) He longed to see her once again; and after certain days she came; she spoke and laid her hand upon his head.
14) Her touch thrilled all his soul, and for the time, forgotten was the work that he was sent to do.
15) Few were the words the maiden said; she went her way; but then the heart of Jesus had been touched.
16) A love-flame had been kindled in his soul, and he was brought to face the sorest trial of his life.
17) He could not sleep nor eat. Thoughts of the maiden came; they would not go. His carnal nature called aloud for her companionship.
18 ) And then he said,
Lo, I have conquered every foe that I have met, and shall I now be conquered by this carnal love?
19) My Father sent me here to show the power of love divine, that love that reaches every living thing.
20) Shall this pure, universal love be all absorbed by carnal love? Shall I forget all creatures else, and lose my life in this fair maiden, though she is the highest type of beauty, purity and love?
21) Into its very depths his soul was stirred, and long he wrestled with this angel-idol of his heart.
22) But when the day was almost lost, his higher ego rose in might; he found himself again, and then he said,
23) Although my heart shall break I will not fail in this my hardest task; I will be victor over carnal love.
24) And when again the maiden came, and offered him her hand and heart, he said,
25) Fair one, your very presence thrills me with delight; your voice is benediction to my soul; my human self would fly with you, and be contented in your love;
26) But all the world is craving for a love that I have come to manifest.
27) I must, then, bid you go; but we will meet again; our ways on earth will not be cast apart.
28 ) I see you in the hurrying throngs of earth as minister of love; I hear your voice in song, that wins the hearts of men to better things.
29) And then in sorrow and in tears the maiden went away, and Jesus was again alone.

5) And Jesus said to John,
I would be washed in water as a symbol of the cleansing of the soul.
6) And John replied,
You do not need to wash, for you are pure in thought, and word, and deed. And if you need to wash I am not worthy to perform the rite.
7) And Jesus said,
I come to be a pattern for the sons of men, and what I bid them do, that I must do; and all men must be washed, symbolic of the cleansing of the soul.
15) The man who stands upon the corners of the paths and points the way, but does not go, is just a pointer; and a block of wood can do the same.
16) The teacher treads the way; on every span of ground he leaves his footprints clearly cut, which all can see and be assured that he, their master went that way.
23) Now, you may never point the way and tell the multitudes to do what you have never done; but you must go before and show the way.
24) You are to teach that men must wash; so you must lead the way, your body must be washed, symbolic of the cleansing of the soul.

15) And when the pleasure seekers urged that Jesus join them in their mirth, he said,
16) How could I seek for pleasure for myself while others are in want? How can you think that while the children cry for bread, while those in haunts of sin call out for sympathy and love, that I can fill myself to full with the good things of life?
17) I tell you, nay; we all are kin, each one a part of the great human heart.
23) I call it pleasure when I help the helpless, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, and speak good words of cheer to those unloved, discouraged and depressed.
24) And this that you call mirth is but a phantom of the night; but flashes of the fire of passion, painting pictures on the walls of time.

11) Why should you weep? Tears cannot conquer grief. There is no power in grief to mend a broken heart.
12) The plane of grief is idleness; the busy soul can never grieve; it has no time for grief.
13) When grief come trooping through the heart, just lose yourself; plunge deep into the ministry of love, and grief is not.
14) Yours is a ministry of love, and all the world is calling out for love.
15) Then let the past go with the past; rise from the cares of carnal things and give your life for those who live.

Of heaven we have heard; but then it is so far away, and we must live so many lives before we can reach that place!
8 ) And Jesus said,
My brother, man, your thoughts are wrong; your heaven is not far away; and it is not a place of metes and bounds, is not a country to be reached; it is a state of mind.
9) God never made a heaven for man; he never made a hell; we are creators and we make our own.
10) Now, cease to seek for heaven in the sky; just open up the windows of your hearts, and, like a flood of light, a heaven will come and bring a boundless joy; then toil will be no cruel task.
