So this story wound up coming back to me during a conversation today; it's a mystery I never solved. I post in this forum because it's a rare cut I've encountered only once in my life that no one has ever figured out; sorry if it's still not appropriate.

This one time, I got a batch of coke cut with an unknown substance, that when IV'd caused me to feel like all the air had instantly been sucked out of my lungs. It left me gasping for air like all the oxygen had been sucked out of the room, and this went on for 30-60 terrifying seconds. This only happened with IV use; people who snorted the same batch didn't feel any side effects. A few minutes after the initial effects dissipated, a headache developed for another 20-30min. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of chemical could cause such a reaction? It's bothered me for years.

It's gonna be real tough to answer this with any appreciable accuracy. Had you been at it for a while? Maybe you were having really bad cardiac arrhythmia and you lost consciousness for a sec?

Wasn't anything wrong with me. Hadn't used yet that day, 2 other people had identical reactions plus it happened instantly-- no one lost consciousness, and we went and got different stuff from someone else and it didn't happen with the other stuff.

We don't allow mystery substance ID's / "what did I take" threads.

Another mod suggests it was maybe lidocaine. It kind of makes sense that it's some active cut like that.
