The previous times I quit phenibut, I always had enough to taper down and I got benzos to help counteract the w/d symptoms and sleep. This time I had nothing besides alcohol. Alcohol didn't really help at all. Its day 2 and I didn't sleep at all last night. The anxiety, akithisia and dysphoria was a bitch. I had once again found myself in a neurochemical hell and no escape plan. Well I did come up with an escape plan I went to a doctor and told him I was having trouble sleeping and he gave me a months script of zolpidem. It just kicked in and now I'm in heaven. Everyone recommends benzos for phenibut w/d. I've never tried them but z drugs seem to work real well. This is pretty amazing. My heart was palpitating like a mad thing, I checked my pulse and BP at one point and my resting pulse was 160 beats/min and my pressure was something like 145/110. My face and ear was going cold and I could feel it going numb, like a stroke was imminent. Was having all kinds of harsh symptoms and alcohol seemed to do more harm than good. After taking 5mg of zolpidem I feel great. They have really short durations so longer lasting benzos would be better but z drugs are pretty good if you have no alternative. So if you ever have to quit phenibut cold turkey, a viable option is to get a prescription sleep aid. This is how I got out of my last withdrawal, I got a months script for zopiclone the same day I quit phenibut so I didn't have much of a withdrawal.
EDIT: Do GABA A agonists counteract all phenibuts w/d symptoms though? I still feel something weird going on with my heart and head. I can feel good and sleep now which will make the withdrawal fun. Without the zolpidem, this w/d wouldn't be too much fun lol
