I have a question for whoever can answer it. I've been doing meth since 1984, minus the 6 to 7 years spent in prison due to my drug use. I hate it more then anything, as I'm sure you know it's not all that easy to up and quit cold turkey or otherwise. I have a chance to replace it with methadone. I know nothing about methadone. I'm trying to go about my daily life routine without the withdraws, or at least to a minimum. Is this a good choice, and will it even help me, and if not I'm open for any and all suggestions.

I highly doubt an opioid will help meth withdrawal. Even if it does, it won't be worth getting addicted to Methadone.

You may just need to tough it out man. You can get out on your own. Trust me when I say it's not worth the methadone.

I'd go to a doctor and see if he can help you come off comfortably.

Umm......IMO, methadone isn't worth getting addicted to coming off a math addiction.

I would think a doctor could prescribe you a months supply of Valium to help you get off meth.

As everyone else has said methadone will NOT help you. There is no reason to get addicted to methadone to get off methamphetamine, it could be counter productive as methadone may leave you feeling tired and craving a pick up. I would think your best bed if your trying to stay away from stimulants completely is to see if a doctor will give you like 7-14 valium to get by the anxiety for the first week. Otherwise perhaps replacement therapy with a prescribed amphetamine with a taper, but I wouldnt be surprised if that doesnt exist, just because we have a strange way of thinking when it comes to how to quit drugs.
