Just dawned on me this morning how long I've been doin weed. Today is my 54th 4/20 on this earth and I've been toking for 40 of them. Friggin 40 years. Crazy. Took my first puff April 20th, 1969. Back then there was no 420 but it just happened to be the first time I toked. I always remembered that day but never in a million years did I think I would still be doing it.

Oh well enjoy the day and be responsible. Responsible drug use is possible and you can make it through life this way. I'm proof!!

Haha - I'm catching up - will be 54 in May :D

Yup, use - not abuse - that's the trick ;)

Take it easy %)

oldhead and FishFace, you guys rock. I don't see myself ever quitting for good, if I can help it. I've been doing it on and off for 12 years.

Questions for you guys:
Has weed changed for you over the years? Does it have different effects now than it did in your initial years? Also, have you noticed any obvious cognitive or respiratory effects from decades-long toking?

I used to smoke alot more as a youngster. Age will automatically slow you down. Its just a few hits of dank a day now. Its tires me out big time now. I only toke after work where in my prime I got high every morning before work. I now love the vaporizer buzz where as a young man I would have shuned it. As far as health goes, I'm all good. Alot of my straight peers have had many more physical problems then I have had. All I have is acid reflux but weed has nothing to do with that except I over eat and run for my tums. People ask if I'm addicted to it and I would say yes. I would have trouble stopping. Sleeping and eating come to mind. Enjoying TV and music would be next to impossible.

40 years is a long time, I doubt I will ever have stopped completely by that time even though I am on a forced break now. How random your first day was 4/20. That is some weird coincidence.

Like Oldhead, I smoke a lot less these days - a wee pipe of hash is my equivalent of a Gin & Tonic at the end of the working day ;)

I'm in pretty good shape, physically and mentally but who knows what shape I'd be in if I'd never had a puff :\

Unlike Oldhead, however, I do not consider myself to be addicted and am able to quit easily, when travelling abroad or the like :)

hell yeah,.....40 years and still puffin away. I still smoke quite a bit I guess. I smoke every day. Yesterday I smoked about 5 joints after I got home from work. I don't smoke that much every day, but sometimes one joint just doesn't do it for me. I don't think I'm any worse off than I would be if I had never started. But then, I'll never know.
