Music that sounds like this? Beatless, spacey, ethereal.

Some blissful drift. Those sooofft, gassy pads of space.
A little bit uplifting. For instance, I like almost everything by Liquid Mind.

I love using MM to 'fade volume' as I drift off to sleep. Hour and a half usually does it. I never remember going under. It's great. But artists always want to add some chiming bells or head ringing high shuddering cacophony, usually about 20 minutes into the track. Right as you're about to drop off to sleep.

Got anything like these two 'tracks'?
Not dark and oppressive. Not too terribly lite and saccharine.
No flutes or pianos or beats or rhythm. Just space and calm.

Thanks.

Ambient isn't my specialty, but I'm not far off because I like to listen to what is basically ambient on top of groovy beats (hits the 'relaxed alert' quality of alpha brainwaves). With that said I listen to some ambient. The first link you provided, Steve Roach, has been incredibly prolific through the years, so you have a lot of listening to do if you check out his work. Try bvdub, offthesky, Evan Bartholomew, Nils Frahm, biosphere, last days, Aphex Twin's 'Selected Ambient Works' volumes. If you don't mind some soft beats over your drones I can give you 100 more names. Don't be afraid to rabidly explore using different ways to search. There are entire record labels devoted to melodic drones and textural soundscapes, such as http://www.12k.com/ and http://www.infractionrecords.com/ and http://www.touchmusic.org.uk/ (more along the experimental/noise side). One way to explore is to find an artist you like, look at their discography (discogs.com) and then see what record labels they have released on, then visit those labels and find other artists. You can also put on 'ambient' (or artists like 'Steve Roach') radio at http://www.pandora.com and find artists that come up through there.

Lovely suggestions. I'd not heard of those labels. Or, a few of those artists, so... thanks.
I like using Discogs to look up stuff also. Collaborations, who else appears on various collections w/ them, etc.
Have you ever tried 'Music-Map'?

Anyways, I know what you mean with your first sentence, I do the same thing.
Also, this.

P.S. Illuha, while not exactly what I was mentioning here, sounds pretty chill.

Also, thanks for responding.
