Music sounds different after Shroom trips?

So I want to know if this has happened to anyone. I remember the first time i tripped it was awesome, music sounded great yada yada. But the day after when i woke up i went to my computer and started listening to Drink the Sea by The Glitch Mob, I listened to it when i tripped and it was a complete mindfuck of pure euphoria, but when i listened to it that morning it sounded ugly. I could hear every single tiny sound and it made it sound dissonant like the whole song was played in tritones. This applied to all music for about a week then it went away out of nowhere and music sounded the same as before.

Now I tripped yesterday and once again listened to trippy electronica music. Today after I've went back to complete baseline and im listen to music, and it sounds different once again and i notice everything, but this time it sounds Oh So Much Better! I can almost feel every emotion the music contains and feel it vibrating in my brain.

Anyone else experience a changed perspective on music after the acute effects wear off?

Yes, my perception of music is changing all the time, and it's a fascinating exploration... I'm a musician and sound engineer, so it's pretty useful for what I do. Embrace these perceptual changes, no matter how ugly, with curiosity and intellectual bravery.

im not scared of them, I'm just wondering because I've asked my trip buddies and they said they havent noticed a single difference. I hope this change is permanent because music just sounds so much deeper and livelier if it makes sense :\

It's definitely increased my appreciation for heavily layered electronic music; the complexity and depth that some producers go to is astounding. What's really fun is closing your eyes and following the architecture of the music through meta-morphing worlds of abstract imagery synchronizing around the flow of the beat; the music takes on visual formation and you guide it with your imagination. The more complex the track the more precise the detail, man i miss those days.. out of this world amazing.

I think with time you open yourself up to deeper emotion and greater appreciation, not only of music but everything.

Psychedelics definatley changed my perception of music, its hard to explain how it is different but it definatley is :)

amen to that :)

also id suggest freestyle rapping or singing while tripping. you can come up with the most deranged/violent/depraved shit. or some really truly romantic love songs depending on the mood.
regardless of what your experiences are even a friend's fictional lyrics are pretty poignant.

I've found that listening to a song while taking a wide variety of drugs (mdma, psychedelic) will allow you to take in more detail about the song so you realize more of what is actually going on. In the case of fast paced music, I believe that when the sober brain listens to music it misses a lot of the details because it's predicting rhythms and forming its own patterns as it goes. However, when you listen to a song with a heightened awareness and without the brains barriers, you take in far more details.

For me, this always carries over to when I'm sober but only applies to specific songs that I listen to in a heightened state, not music in general. Songs will typically sound better, clearer, and invoke more emotions because the brain is now aware that those features are there. It learned that information and isn't just going to forget it!

very true, an sometimes when i discover a great song while tripping it almost always brings back emotions from the trip when i listen to it sober.

i seem to be very lucky in the fact that i discover some cool shit while tripping. usually a friend will play something i wouldnt normally listen to.
i used to not like metal very much, always been a chill relaxing music listener.

i was on some generous helpings of 2ce and this dude started playing mastadon. changed my life dude.

id even go so far as to say certain people who i dont understand or enjoy sober, i see in a new light.
i mean for all intents and purposes the dude was an ass and still is. but he will always be the lad who introduced another new genre to my life in a meaningful way.

i think music while tripping also lends itself to perceiving music the way the artist did, why they made the song, what shit was going on in their life, the era it was made all that stuff that we sometimes take for granted during sober listening.

but it carries over to sober listening. psychedelics improved my sober perspective and how i view things musically.

Eek. i used to be a huge Megadeth fan (make sure its fast loud and rude) every since i went to my first rave, i hardly listen to them anymore. well i listened to them tripping and found it changed my trip. didnt make it "bad" just dark.

Haha, i use to listen to them so much that i had memorized the lyrics to most of there songs, was also a massive fan of Iron Maiden and saw them live a couple of times.. after getting involved with psychedelics and the doof/electronica scene my tastes in music definitely shifted. I suppose since Megadeth's songs are heavily politically influenced it would probably invoke a darker atmosphere to the experience.

Hell, Pantera use to be my favorite band back in the 90's.. and although i still love the memories when listening to them, i cant enjoy them as much as i use to.

I was always interested in the complexity, and speed of how fast such rythmic cut-up drum patterns could be presesnted and deconstructed when I listened to music, how many layers could I process. I'd listen till I'd learnt the song.

But shrooms allowed me to see the feeling side, I'd listen to the music and feel it.
Was different to see that, because I know the different personality types between people, this is natural.
Some people are feelers with music, some are thinkers (eg. pop vs. classical).

And yeah, it made me see trance in a whooolleee new perspective.
