Hey

Ive got a 1.4 meters tall marijuana plant growing outdoors in my backyard. Recently some unsavoury characters have found out about it and if i leave it ouside there is a high probability of it getting stolen/ripped.

Its 1.4 meters tall and im unsure of its sex at the moment. I cant remember for certain but i guess its about 2 months old. I live in perth western australia. Ive had 2 previous outdoor grows.

Im thinking of moving the plant to my shed under lights. Ive got no experience with indoor grows or lights.

What im trying to findout is what i need to know to go about moving my plant indoors. Im only planning on having a rough temporary light setup to finish this plant of in safety.

Since its been growing outdoors and im unsure how far along growing it actually is can i move it under lights without risk of killing / messing the plant up?

Roughly howmuch $ would i need to outlay to buy the required lights to finish the plant growing indoors?

Thanks heaps for your assistance.

It is iffy.

If I was you I would just leave it.

Bringing it indoors this late in the game will probably result in an unhealthy plant.

If you are serious about growing indoors I would start over from scratch, it only takes about 3 months start to finish to grow indoors.

Good luck.

If you do decide to move it indoors you want to keep it on a 12/12 light on/light off cycle, and have it totally 100% dark during the lights out period.

For a plant that size you will need at least a 600W HID bulb though.

You can't just use fluorescent bulbs or something.

Any more questions just ask.

first of all...get that plant out of there as soon as possible. You cannot trust anyone. Grab it before they do. Your plant hasnt even started flowering yet so there will be no problem to put it under lights. Is it in the ground or in a pot? Either way, you will need a metal halide or high pressure sodium light. They will both work fine. The more watts the system is, probably the more costly. I would get a light that doesn't put off alot of heat, the 600 would work just fine. Though I do recommend 1,000 watts. But you only have one plant so the 1,000 would be pointless unless you tied your plant down and grew out all the under buds. Metal halide (mh) and high pressure sodium (hps) both produce a bit of heat. That will be your number one issue. A blower or fan with a high "cfm" would be able to cool your lights down. Other than that. I don't know what to say. I will leave with one final that. And that is: Don't Give Up! Any grower can grow plant's, but a great grower kills plants. So if he/she dies, don't be bummed. There's more mary out there to grow!

P.S. - If I were you I would appreciate and read the other posts made too, b/c other people like me took the time to read and try to understand your dilemma. That's your plant though and by all means I would save her. Just because someone might say grow her anyways, doesn't mean that is the right thing to do. Like I said it's your plant, you took 2 months of your life or more to bring her up. Why throw it away to some meat head theif, who doesn't care about anything, not even themselves. So take into consideration the advice others give to you!

Leave it. Before you're able to grow (safely) indoors lot's of time has passed. First you need to read into all of it, then you need to buy your equipment, then you need to find a suitable spot to grow in, then you need to build the room and only then you can begin growing. It takes far more than you've apparently made it out to be. By the time you've completed all of this your plant will either be massive and far too big to get it inside or it will be flowering (I dunno the cycles at the other end of the earth).

I'd just keep a close eye on your plant, might even wanna install a camera or something, wish I had one previous season, at least I would've known which bastards ripped half of 2 of my plants.

i agree partly with blowmonkey, but at the same time if you are going to bring your plant inside it can easily be achieved on a small budget! a 400 watt h.p.s grow light costs about $150 here in new zealand and id imagine its about the same in aussie..?all you need is a 400w light an oscillating fan and a wardrobe or room where you can put it...the problem you have tho is if your plant is male???if you put it under light on 12/12 it should be clear in a few weeks if it male!if its not my advice would be to clone ten or so of the bottom branches so you can keepthe strain and maximise your grow and or because of the size of your plant tie it down under your light to maximise the light being used....thats my 0.02cents worth:\

If you don't care about your safety, ofcourse. I however wouldn't set through with it.
