Astra-Zeneca is about to market a drug to address opioid-induced constipation. It is called Movantik in North America and Movantig in Europe. It works by blocking the paralyzing effect of opioids in the digestive system, but has little or no effect on the pain killing/other side effects of opioids. AZ is in the process of getting the drug on insurance formularies and plans a large direct-to-consumer advertising campaign.

The side effects basically describe precipitated withdrawal. Might have to titrate up slowly to find the point that central effects become prevalent.

If im not mistaken, this is a form of a naloxone metabolite. What would those central effects be, beyond typical antagonist effects?

The typical antagonistic effects are the problem, IIRC it's a pegylated form of a-Naloxol. With the PEG-poly ethylene glycol linked to the a-Naloxol it's supposed to be centrally inactive but much like loperamide some seems to get across, aside from some people reacting adversely to the peripheral effects as well.
