To anyone who took Morphine both orally and rectally - can you compare the dose and effect? How much mg do you use rectally vs orally?
I know the basics like "take less in the beginning", just curious about experience
Google says rectal BA is around 55%, so I assume 2 times less would be a good start.

Anyway.. I tried it. I used my regular dose, 200mg. I don't think it was better than oral. More or less the same. Idk, is it normal?

I keep the dosages about the same as oral. Usually the difference is purely the onset is quicker and that can lead to warmer effects, you have to make sure you are empty, laying on stomach or side, etc…. Pluggings never been a great way for me to do anything consistently and not worth the effort IMO. Everyone’s different.
I also feel like sometimes it loses something since it doesn’t go thru the same way. Dilly’s felt like they lost something.

Rectal opioids, morphine included is meant to be as effective as intramuscular but every time I've tried it whilst opioid dependent it's never been that effective.

I personally think it's because of the constipation and possibly the bowels being blocked from allowing absorption because of said constipation.

I had a friend who prior to opioid use was given a 10mg or 20mg oxycodone suppository in the hospital (England around 2005 - 2008) and he said it was fantastic.

I’ve never had a good experiencing plugging morphine. At times, I would get almost no effects from a dose that would make me feel great orally. If I am going to take morphine, I prefer orally. IV on very rare occasions. I love morphine, but the GI side effects in general are too much. If I’m going to plug an opiate, it would be Oxy.

I have read multiple times on forums that rectal should be as good as IV. But in literature the rectal BA is not that high. From 20% to 70% max.

Personally I find rectal morphine to be nearly twice as strong as oral morphine, but it varies. The bioavailability of oral morphine is ~30 and the bioavailability of rectal morphine ranges (depending on the person) from around 30-70%

The bioavailability of morphine after rectal administration was found to be 53.3 +/- 17.8% (mean +/- S.D.).

And
The bioavailability of rectal morphine was determined in 6 patients, who received an i.m. injection of morphine at a second operation. The mean bioavailability of rectal morphine was 31% (range 12%–61%

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but for me it feels more or less the same. Just slightly different

There appears to be some conjecture regarding the bioavailability of rectally-administered Morphine. For that matter, routes of administration with Morphine could qualify as unusual. For instance, insufflation of Morphine leads to a significantly reduced bioavailability, which we know flouts the typical; insufflation often being twice as potent as oral administration, as say with Heroin, Morphine's close chemical relative.

I've read reference material stating Morphine has a higher bioavailability by the rectal route. I will say that in my experience, I never found the rectal route to be significantly stronger. If I had to shoot from the hip, based on my experience and what I've read, I'm guessing there is a small increase in bioavailability from the oral route to the rectal route, say maybe 20% or something. It was never an increase that I was able to truly perceive.

However, I think all Opioids are better rectally. I don't care. I'll tell the whole world. Yes, I understand full well that this makes me gay. I've come to terms with that. I've told my Father and my Girlfriend, both of whom were disappointed.

Seriously though, the feeling of using Opioids rectally is different. I'm going to get a little abstract here, so try to follow me. When you consume an Opioid orally, it has to travel through the whole factory of our body and then the effects come on kind of slowly, maybe you notice a twinge of an itch on the tip of your nose, you feel a little bit lighter... I'm not trying to write junkie porn, I promise. When you use an Opioid rectally, it's like it radiates from your abdomen as it then radiates throughout your body. It's like an added bonus of a physical sensation that I find pretty great.

For me, rectal Morphine was stronger than oral.
20mg rectally had a good effect without tolerance.

I remember not being able to sleep from toothpain & getting very frustrated. So I left the bed with my then GF sleeping in it & plugged a 20mg morphine capsule.

After 20mins, the pain was gone, I layed down & had an hour or two of blissful chilling & cuddling.

Good times, man.

Nice that you can feel 20mg. Even when I didn't have tolerance (or had little-medium tolerance) I couldn't feel anything less than 200mg. Sometimes even 200mg wasn't enough.
I think the reason is slow-release formula. Even when you chew it, you can't completely destroy it.
In the same time I could feel 400mg of codeine (40mg of morphine or so). Really strange.
