I am a ruthless entrepreneur. I will dive into the pieces with lightning speed and accuracy and choose the race car EVERY time. I will buy properties you need and never sell them to you. I will buy my way out of jail every single time I get burned by that cursed community chest. I'll wait till your broke ass lands on my properties and offer to take your 4 railroads as payment.

I play it online. The pogo one by EA is good and free

Never really saw the value in railroads tbh

WTF is with the newest version. Debit cards?!? Yes, I realize what century it is, but oh my god how lazy/ignorant are we now that we can't take the time to count monopoly money. I will *never* own any version of monopoly that does not force my children to count paper money.8(

oh i saw that, that is absolutely ridiculous, it takes the fun out of it too :( I would never get that. original FTW

Its been a long time since I played, but I remember my strategy was to focus on owning all the railroads, electric, and water thingies rather than focusing on real estate. I won many games with this strategy.

Oh, and I usually played with the Iron, or the dog.

There is a Monopoly movie being made at the moment. Ridley Scott is producing it :)

How would it work though? You can't make much money off them, even if you own all 4 railroads, which you can't even build on.

I always go for owning the brown and blue and getting hotels on asap

The railroads provide a more consistent income than real estate because they're not all localized in one section of the board. Yes, it is considerably lower than that of a set of matching properties with hotels, but it's dependable. They're cheap and you don't have to sink money into them either so you recoup your purchase price much faster as well. I wouldn't depend on them to win the game, but they're good for extra cash flow to build up your real estate. Of course, that's based on nothing other than my own opinion.:)

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person outraged by the debit card version of this game.:) That said, there are good variations on the traditional version. Monopoly JR isn't bad for the little ones, and Dino-opoly is a cute version played exactly like the original with a different look.

i LOVE monopoly! i get really competitive and into it. i have all the prices and rent amounts memorized.

i don't understand the 'electronic bank' version. i think handling the money is half the fun!

Completely agree about the electronic bank versions.

You can't exactly set up secret deals on the sly when you need to enter everything into, what is essentially, a calculator.

lol, the new version has a segway and a designer purse.

Thing is though it all depends on how the game starts, if you land on 1 or two of the railroads instead of baby blue/ purple you should lean towards getting the RRs and utilities. If I miss the initial two railroads I better be landing on orange/purple. If I miss those my only other shot is at the yellow. If all of the above falls through, 99% of the time I end up loosing the game.

Has anyone seen the golden version of monopoly? I don't know what version it was but instead of cars or baseball caps it had famous landmarks like the Eiffel tower and Big ben... I thought it was beautiful and the cards were all very well designed. I'm not talking about the real gold plated version of monopoly but there is another version of it.

oh and my strategy was to take the most expensive properties of course...and to put a multitude of hotels so that everyone gets bankrupt everytime they set their dice on it... That and own the garbage place too, it helps when the guy gets the community card that sais "go back 2 squares without taking $200" that card made me rich....lol.

Anyway, I love this game.

The card your refering too is "go back 3 spaces" and it comes out of chance. The other is Go straight to jail, do not collect 200$.

The green properties are the worst purchase in the game.
