Hi! Not new to BL but new to this particular forum. I love me a good gaming discussion, and I am especially into mmorpgs. Lets start things off with an easy question. What is your favorite mmorpg of all time?

Mine is a hard one. On one hand I've played WoW more than any other game in existence, yet I have a hard time calling it my favorite as I am extremely burned out on it. On the other hand there is City of Heroes, which I absolutely adored yet only played for short maybe 3 month spans at a time. I miss that game and seeing it close down was horrid. So if I was going by most time spent, definitely WoW. If I'm going by game I most adored, CoH. How about you?

While I'm at it, which upcoming mmorpg are you most looking forward to? Why?

I'd have to say again it is a toss up. I am a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls games, going back as far as Morrowind. So Elder Scrolls Online is definitely up there. On the other hand I would LOVE to experience something like City of Heroes again, so I've been keeping my eye on City of Titans(The Phoenix Project). I tried Champions Online and DCUO, but neither had that same magic that CoH had.

So how about it? Let's hear your thoughts!

favorite was guild wars 2 for the first year.

sorta kinda looking forward to wildstar really like the sci-fi cartoony art style.

elder scrolls online from what i saw hasn't got me excited. have to wait and hear some reviews.

and tbh i dunno if i really wanna get sucked into another mmo after 2000+ hours in a year of gw2. at times i just prefer a chill single player experience, not having to worry about dealing with other people in game for like dungeons or grinding for gear. =/

HMMMMMM

my first MMO was asherons call 2 in like 2002 i cracked out on that so hard. and still have dreams about it.....MMMMMMMMMMMMMM i miss that game so much.....=(

after that i fucked with shadowbane , i got in the WoW family and friends alpha(thanks to a classmate) played that until like lvl 45 in vanilla and was MEH

after that nothing

might play ESO

I've only ever got into World of Warcraft. It was a wonderful experience, but I'm burned out on that kind of grind/quest system. I tried SWTOR for a bit, but it felt like WoW.

Wouldn't mind trying another MMO if it had a different format. Maybe something more action-oriented would be sweet.

there's only been two MMOs I would say I thought about all the time, when I first started playing WoW and Darkfall.

WoW just had such smooth gameplay and the little easter eggs related to real life strewn about the game always made me laugh. Plus, I just got really good at it and had the most free time in my life when I played it (7th-9th grade). Then I had to get a job and started smoking weed so it just became w/e. Then after WotLK came out I just didnt feel like buying the same game over and over again and they started changing too much so I just stopped.

Darkfall could have been a hugely successful game but the developers lied about a lot of stuff and couldnt quite balance the hardcore / casual crowd. EVE online did it right where you gain skill points even offline, in Darkfall you literally had to be logged on all the time just to have a chance. But if you found out how to work the system (bloodwalls, afk swimming, all that borderline cheating shit) it was the closest thing to a true Elder Scrolls Online ive ever seen. Even the ACTUAL ESO probably wont be as close, and that's pretty ridiculous. Nothing gets the blood flowing more than either running for you life with an hours with of shit on you or hunting down someone who made you run for your life just the other day. You got to know people, and got to hate people. Most MMOs now are totally not community driven at all (like SWTOR) so im not even sure if they're really MMOs imo. Best part about Darkfall, if you didnt like someone.... fucking kill them and take their shit. Nothing would stop you.

I like games like that but I just dont play MMOs at all anymore because I cant justify spending money on something I really have no interest in doing and Free2Play mmos all try to coerce you into paying money anyway by extremely limiting their content.

Everquest and then WoW most definitely, and embarrassingly, when i was a kid, Runescape.

I'd have to say again it is a toss up. I am a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls games, going back as far as Morrowind. So Elder Scrolls Online is definitely up there.

If you like ES games you should check out the thread i just started about the new fan games, its awesome.

Good old RuneScape. My all time favorite. I've been playing for about 11 years now and I'm really dissapointed in it's recent updates, so I've quit. For now. My skills on it are amazing and I could never give it up fully. Other than that, I couldn't really get in to and other mmo's and I didnt really know what else to look for. Now that my computer has taken a shit, I've just been sticking to Skyrim on xbox, and now I have 4 characters all above level 30 with little to no quests left to do. I neeeeed a new gaming computer. .-.

FFXIV looks extremely good. I was registered for the beta but it seemed like every time I tried to get on the PS3 version, it was down and my laptop wasn't capable of running it. All of my friends are dropping WoW for it so there must be some goodness in there.

relevant picture I laughed at

i played in one of the closed beta weekends and enjoyed it.

the class system caught my attention. http://archeage.gamepedia.com/Classes lots of variety so it will be fun to theory-craft builds. like that's why i quit gw2 cause all you did was spec for most dps in pve, stack on bosses dodge a couple times and melt the enemy health down asap.

looking forward to stuff to do at end game. they seem to be making a point its really open to explore your way.

I currently play WoW, but I really really enjoyed wildstar when I tried it. Just my friends quit and went back to wow, and you know how that goes. Like playing an mmo alone sucks. and wildstar was kind of not solo friendly. But AA seems pretty cool, I've been meaning to give it the time...but I really want Blade and Soul to become available in america without me having to use some private server. That game looks pretty sick. Also FF ARR was really really good. I played the Paladin Job and it was sick, the tanking made me feel like I was actually good lol.
