I just started IV'n a few weeks ago.

After we cop usually my friend hits me.

The few times I tried myself Ive missed and I dont know why. Theres blood in the rig. I get a lil shaky would a lil shake make you miss that bad?

Also it comes to the point where the rig becomes pink and i have no fucking idea whats going on. I get frustrated n shoot it up my nose lol.

Any tips?

Try to calm yourself down before you shoot up, take a few deep breaths. I know it's kind of hard, especially when you miss and get really frustrated then finally hit the vein and you get so excited you start shaking and pull the needle out/puncture the vein instead. At this point I usually took a few minutes to collect myself and tried again.

Edit: If you have separate needles/syringes you could leave a tiny amount of air in the needle (I always did this) so the blood will flow into it easier when you register a vein. This way you will know for sure when you have hit the vein. NOTE THAT I DO NOT KNOW HOW GOOD THIS IS FROM A HARM REDUCTION STANDPOINT THOUGH.

Check out the Injection, IV complications and information MEGATHREAD and FAQ.

This questions been answered so many times so Im going to close this.

  • Always insert the needle (at least when you're injecting into the arms, which is where you should be hitting) at a shallow angle.
  • Once the syringe tip is in the flesh, but before you even think you're in a vein, pull back on the plunger. This will create a vaccuum so that when you slide in more, or at a different angle, you'll know when you've struck the vein as the blood will flow right in (saves you the trouble of keeping a steady hand while registering-though it's good to have one..)
  • re-register 1/4 way through the shot to make sure you are still in. (SIDE NOTE: I'm not sure if you're shooting tar or East Coast Powder, but with powder, I never use more than 4 units for a shot containing 3 bags or less.)
