Alright, this is my debut post. Today I'm going to talk about Midazolam HCl (Versed in North America, also known as Dormicum when in tablet form). Now most of us aren't lucky enough to get our hands on this delicous benzo. Those of you who are lucky enough to have access to Dormicum, you have permission to gloat. I consider myself to be more than experienced when it comes to benzos having used EACH of these at LEAST a few dozen times:

-Nitrazepam (Mogadon)
-Diazepam (Valium)
-Alprazolam (Xanax)
-Clonazepam (Klonopin)
-Lorazepam (Ativan)
-Chlordiazepoxide (Librium)
-Oxazepam (Serax)
-Bromazepam (Lexotan)
-Chlorazepate (Tranxene)
-Triazolam (Halcion)- Note about Triazolam...every time I've done something *stupid* while on a Benzo....it's been Triazolam
-Temazepam (Restoril)

I should also note, I have had a bit of a dependency issue with benzos, but I digress. Back to the original topic.

You see, I was lucky enough to work at a hospital for a good period of time, which entitled me to acquire these meds. Now, I didn't steal them, just for the record. I'm not going into detail on explaining how I got them, but it did not involve theft, prescription fraud, bribery or any other questionable deed. Now, you see one day as I was packing my pockets full of ridiculous amounts of 1 mg Ativan SL (A sublingual form of Ativan used in hospitals, basically a tablet the size of a microdot containing 0.5 mg to 2 mg of Ativan), as well as a buffet of other good meds, when I noticed, to my amazement, a vial of Midazolam HCl for IM/IV injection.

So, after I got home, I figured I'd sample some of the vial. Because I have a strict policy of no injection, what I did was draw out an exact dose from the vial using a syringe, and then emptying that dose into a glass of water. Yes I drugged my own drink, and I can say, it did not taste pleasant. It didn't have that usual benzo-sweetness. So, a short time later, it kicked in. My memory gets really hazy at this point. But I can say that the buzz was excellent. Extremely euphoric. No amount of Xanax or Klonopin or any other benzo for that matter comes close, in my opinion. I believe I injested a 12.5 mg dose (and if you calculate the equivalent dose on an equivalence table, you'll notice that Midazolam isn't 'high potency' in terms of mg potency), and this 12.5 mg dose, zapped me better than what I'd say would be a higher Xanax dose. Motor control went to the wind, as did any shred of memory. I was a staggering mess. No memory of anything when I woke up the next morning. It's some pretty hardcore stuff, and is likely the closest thing to a good dose of Nembutal, Seconal, Tuinal, Placidyl, Doriden, Noludar or Quaalude that I'll ever be able to attain.

All in all I recommend Midazolam to anyone who's careful enough to use it wisely. Unlike ANY other benzo, I wouldn't mix this one with alcohol. Well maybe, but then again I have a little bit of a tolerance.

Awesome man, I have experience with all those other benzos and IF i just take enough ill black out!

Since it was for IM/IV injection, whos knows what the equivalent dose was for like oral xanax...

But I guess you got destroyed...

Dormicum is easy enough to find online. Havn't had the urge to sample it though. I did give Halcion a try once, and didn't find it to be too particularly potent. It seems that benzos have different effects on different ppl. Maybe Halcion just didn't work well w/my individual chemistry.

Anyway, I've never found the benzo to be euphoric, just relaxing. That may be b/c I associate drug euphoria w/opioids. I don't think that any amount of benzo can ever approach a good dose of oxycodone or fentanyl in terms of euphoria. Not to say that they don't have their purpose...

I've done more than you!! (lormetazepam, flunitrazepam, loprazolam, prazepam, lorazepam, clobazam, ....) lol

And all I can say is that Midazolam is the one I hate the most! It just puts me to sleep, with no nice effect...
The heavily sedative benzos (like lormetazepam, loprazolam or flunitrazepam) get me high when I have a tolerance, an don't put me to sleep like Midazolam does...

If you're going to IV it, be careful.
The dosing information is tricky and can cause extreme respiratory depression.

I wonder what the oral bioavailability of the vial is?

I have heard that midazolam is not recreational in the slightest, unless... one were to find waking up not knowing what the hell happened the past couple of hours and how the almost cracked their head open on the side of a bathroom basin. I heard from a friend that IV's, is that all it did to him was literally "put himself under", as if he were post operative anesthesia.
I think I was given it once too, just before getting a gastroscopy(sp?), to my understanding the way it works is by completely annihilating your memory, so you would still be conscious and talking or whilst getting operated on, but you have absolutely no recollection or memory of any even that's happening.
I could be wrong though...
I'd imagine it wouldbe different if taken orally though.

To me, by far the most euphoric benzo I have ever taken was Xanax, probably the closest benzo (in my book) that could evercome to Opiates. However I am not as experienced as most of you would be with Benzos, and I am guessing why some people don't put Xanax up there in their list of Benzos is because of it's somewhat shorter duration.

it seems that benzos have different effects on different ppl.

In my experience, this is true. When I would share my bountiful amounts of meds with friends, I noticed that an equivalent dose of Ativan, for example, would affect each person differently. Some people could take what I'd call a heroic dose and be completely fine, while others would be totally looped after 2 mg. One friend of mine, was always able to take a large dose of assorted benzos and wash it all down with half a fifth of whiskey and, aside from being a little drunk, was completely fine. At first I attributed his benzo-resistance to the fact that he's a big guy. But then, my hypothesis was thrown out the window when I found out that 10 mg of Mogadon, taken alone, got him looped, while 2mg of Xanax obliterated him. This was funny, because in comparison to the doses of Klonopin (Rivotril), Ativan, Valium and so on he took, 2 mg of Xanax was quite small. Using myself as an example, I actually don't find Xanax to be appreciably euphoric, yet Valium (which is 20x weaker, by dose) or Klonopin I find to be quite euphoric.

An interesting sidenote about Midazolam IM/IV. When injecting it, in a hospital setting, the med isn't reported to be 'enjoyed' by patients. Reports posted here were right, an 'Annihilation of Memory', and not especially much euphoria. In fact, after speaking to a good number of Post-Anaesthetic Care, Intensive Care and Emergency nurses, I discovered that as far as benzos go, Midazolam is dangerous, in that it does cause a high degree of respiratory depression (as compared to other benzos) and of course potentiates other depressant meds. In fact, some nurses aren't too fond of it because it leaves the patient with a 'What the hell happened?' daze. In the case of some patients, this can actually cause them to panic. Personally, being such a depressant enthusiast myself, I find the amnesia refreshing, lol. It's fun, like a Scooby-Doo mystery to piece together what happened the night before based on the objects strewn about the room.

Actually, interestingly enough, Midazolam HCl, as it is a hydrochloride salt, is entirely soluble in water. Now since I dissolved it in a glass of water, I was consuming an oral dose, which can be compared to Xanax (oral) in terms of mg/mg potency. It was 5mg/ml solution. I still kept the vial, lol. A little memento, you could say. As for IM/IV Midazolam, the dosage curve is substantially smaller. An IV injection of 5mg will put most people right out of it.

My closing note about Halcion. I didn't find Halcion 'recreational' per se. Actually, it didn't do much of anything. But, it did make me do stupid things. Plain and simple. I'd say it's an excellent sleeper, but kind of unpredictable. Not a 'fun' benzo. Falls into the same category of 'Meh' benzos right with Librium, Tranxene, and Oxazepam. Taken alone, Serax is boring, yet I found, in my experience, it has this amazing ability to really potentiate other benzos. It's odd, but at the same time it makes it perfect for making 'loads' (fun pill combinations). This might not apply to everyone, though, so mix and match and see what works for you. Personally, I found the combo of 60 mg Temazepam plus 60 mg of Oxazepam plus a 6-12 mg Bromazepam 'kicker' to be pretty decent.

15 mg Versed (Midazolam) = 10 mg Diazepam (Valium) = 0.5mg Alprazolam (Xanax)

benzo-sweetness?

Hell yeah! At least Clonopins and Valiums taste like candy, practically, to me. Perhaps a little bit of conditioning there ;)

Xanax still tastes bitter but I can't say I don't enjoy the flavor... :\

I was very unimpressed with the few times i tried midazolam..an i'm infamous for high dosing once i get a feel for the waters...i ended up combinging a bunch of k-pins and Valium to make it actually fun and sedating.

You got that from a benzo equivalence chart? There are many on the net, and many are not reliable.
In fact it really depends on the person...

It would be better to compare benzos like this:
7,5mg-15mg Midazolam = 10mg-20mg Diazepam = 0,5mg-1mg Alprazolam.

...are these oral dosages ?

ROFL! =D

Flunitrazepam is one if not my favorite benzo,i have had midazolam and all the other benzos mentioned above, yet Rohypnol is a favorite,i wish it was cheaper.

Haven't ever tried Rohypnol, but I'd like to. Next time I head down to Mexico, I'll give 'er a whirl and try and score me some Roofies. Initially I was going to grab some when I was last in Mexico, but settled for Valium, as I figured asking for Rohypnol might draw some attention. But then again, I did go around asking farmacias for Seconal and Nembutal. Turns out one of them had Nembutal in stock, and another had Seconal. Now all I need to do is get a kind doctor or farmacia to write me a script for some reds.

I'd have to say people made way to much fuss about Midazolam at first. Of course, most of this was about how good it is to inject, and I have yet to inject this chemical, but I took 30mg's of Midazolam my first whirl and didn't really feel much. The next day I took 45mg's Midazolam with some Hydrocodone and that about hit the spot.

It's a good Benzo, rather short lived though like Triazolam. I can't wait to inject it though.
