That's a very compassionate thought, I think this is where America should be headed.
I want to know your thoughts on this: where would the immigrants stay?
Do we just let them find empty places on the hillsides to construct makeshift shack towns?
Our government seems to be terrible at housing our own citizens in crisis (Hurricane Katrina victims). How effective might we be if we let every immigrant and their cousin to stay in America.
In any case, as bad as the U.S. is, at least it isn't as violent and corrupt as Mexico.
Well, this would require major reforms of many of our policies, and the way our nations works in general, but...
First of all, there's tons of homes not being used. Let the people with no homes have them-with some conditions:
1.)They get a job. Obviously, we need more. Put money into creating more jobs. Jobs in the "green" sector, jobs fixing/repairing (basic manual labor requires no training), jobs cleaning/community service jobs, etc. I'm sure tons of jobs could be created if we looked outside of the box.
2.)They learn english. No offense, but there's no reason not to speak the language everyone else in the country speaks. I'm not saying they would have to be fluent right away, but they gotta learn somethings to make it day-to-day.
Again, i'm not exactly a policy advisor/creator person. But this could be done. Immigration laws may need changes, but the wall is fucking ridiculous. All the environmental harm, plus all the property laws, plus the effects it's having on Mexico=dumbness. Also, drugs need to be legalized. It can be done. It should be done. Don't believe me, read this:
End Prohibition Now!
The only reason I ever wish I have money, is so that I can help out all the people who need help so much more then I do. It's so frustrating.
