Methocarbamol Oxidation?

=Dcould this be a fun, really simple Sunday Afternoon activity? I only stumbled onto this compound recently and to my amazement, I said hmm. But I have yet to find a reference in the past few days I've been searching. Has anyone seen a reference in the past?
 
I don't really see anything good resulting from this. Please include more details?
 
If you're suggesting what I think you are, wouldnt it be pointless since methocarbamol is the main source of effects after a percentage of soma metabolizes into it?

Honestly I'm not all that familiar with the enzymes at play here and what they're doing chemically but then again I'm not a chemist :)

Either way i believe its synth discussion and will probably be closed (against guidelines.)
 
I'm not really familiar with it myself. One of those times were you see something and take apart the name Me..C..etc and just google for fun. I always get curious about stuff that has a close composition to my favs :D but this is the thing with this post here. It's obvious the structure and molecular weight, so I'm not asking for a HOW TO synth for any post I make. Not asking for a synth at all. Matter of fact, most synths are our there in a million(exaggerated) variations. I'd just like some discussions, debates, WHAT Ifs. That stuff is fun.
 
Soma doesn't metabolize to methocarbamol, it's a different muscle relaxant.


There's only one oxidisable group on methocarbamol and I would put money on it being oxidised by the human liver anyway. So I'm not sure what you would hope to gain from any manipulations of methocarb. It's not like it's closely related to a lot of euphoriants; best case you start making guaifensin...
 
Wow I must have been out of it last night while google-fooing. You're completely right sekio, carisoprodol metabolizes into Meprobamate; at least a large portion of it does.

Go stock up on Mucinex and figure out a way to procure some phosgene I guess, but that would bring you back to square one. I don't think you'll have an easy time trying to make soma or meprobamate as an afternoon activity. Unless OP had something completely different in mind and has just stumbled onto an unknown ultimate at-home drug synth 8o

I'm still waiting for someone to start handing out samples of Amfecloral.....
 
Well the more complete version of the story of how i stumbled onto this compound...
i literally stumbled onto them at work. It seemed that whoever had once lived in this trailer had been experimenting with several things. I found hoses as if he was gassing solutions, i found an unknown compound that had been pressed into tiny custom gel tabs of assorted colors and among these things I found mathocarba.. which I am not into muscle relaxers. But.. depending on method, for instance, microwave or electrolysis.. i began to wonder what the unknown caps were and if they related to everything else i found while cleaning the former owner's place.

Me personally, I only favor empathogens and psychadelics.. things I can expand my mind on. So only out of curiosity did i look up the composition to and structure to see that it was structurally similar and seemed to be a muscle relaxer with some of the effects of an amphetamine
 
And what is the specific chemical you're referring to that is a muscle relaxer with similar effects to amphetamine? Im curious is all.
