Meth: "The poor man's Cocaine"?

I tried Meth for the first/last time a week ago (wrote a trip report about it) and always thought it was called, "The poor man's cocaine." When I told that to the person who gave the Meth to me, they said it cost about four times as much as coke/gram.

So I was wondering about the price difference between coke & meth where U live and, how much more bang for Ur buck do U get from a gram of Meth compared to a gram of coke?

Based on my ONE experience with Meth, I'd say the gram of Meth outlasts the gram of Coke 4:1. Price difference (where I live near the Mexican border) would be maybe 4:1 too.

So the real question I'm asking here is: Are ppl who refer to Meth as "The poor man's Coke" wrong?

(If U Google "Poor man's Cocaine" + Meth versus "Poor man's cocaine" + crack, U'll see more referrals to Meth than crack.) This question is also a research project of mine.

But they both seem to use them where I live.
 
No price discussions.

Coke is a cleaner high but as you stated it doesn't last as long, thus to make cocaine last as long as meth you would have to spend a shit ton on it.
 
^^^ We're NOT discussing prices but price-range differences (no actual dollar figures necessary). There is a huge difference in price/gram in various regions of the world. It's not really necessary to discuss the differences.

I like the two responses so far. That's really what I was looking for. I suppose I could use one of the articles I found for a reference to what U 2 just wrote, Thx.

As 4 prices, they're given for Coke & Meth on the Wikipedia articles but it's still very confusing (especially for European prices) because of the regional price differences. They say coke is really expensive in New Zealand and really cheep in Columbia (conflicting prices in Europe) and don't give regional prices for Meth.

(Again, I'm NOT asking for actual prices but a ratio.) (Maybe I could figure it out by looking for the price Thread if it still exists.)
 
Of course coke is cheap in Columbia...the further away from the source it gets, the more cut and the more taxed it typically is.

The difference with meth is there really are no major global "sources"...being that one can produce it in their basement if they'd like.
Only thing that can really influence the price is the quality and the prevalence in the area...for instance meth isn't that common in my area of the east coast but on the west coast its everywhere so there is competition between dealers to make a better product for a cheaper price.

In my area someone could have moderate quality meth and sell it for whatever they decide the price should be.
 
Meth is usually more expensive by weight than cocaine. However, meth lasts forever in comparison. Try making a gram of cocaine last more than a couple hours. One 50mg line of meth will last at least 12 solid hours, whereas one 50mg line of cocaine will provide a mild high for a few minutes.
 
^^^ Yeah, that's what I'm lookin' 4, coolio but Coke where I live is pretty pure and a tiny line is pretty good for the whole afternoon/evening, but nothing like the experience I had smoking seven hits or so of Meth!
 
Pure or not, the effects of insufflated cocaine wear off in between the 15 and 30 minute mark for most people. Then again you just copped to smoking the meth, which is somewhat different. Try smoking the cocaine and see how long it lasts. : )

Uh, cocaine goes for $25 to $100 per gram. Usually closer to $30-50. Meth goes for $60-200 per gram. This is US/Canada-wide in US Dollars.
 
In my area in Australia, you will pay less for a gram of Meth than a gram of coke.

But it isn't a huge difference.

And lasts longer, and easier to get.
 
i'm a very poor person, and was a speedfreak for years and years, still am, just the dexxies now, not the angel tweak I'd bang.
 
Coke is usually around the same price or slightly cheaper than meth here (good crystal, you can get shitty speed cheap, but it's usually dirty and cut to hell).

The difference is that coke will last about 1/10 of the duration meth will. A point of meth is $50 and will last you longer than a gram of coke at $300.
 
Someone probably knew that you snort it, and heard that hicks liked it and gave it that name without any more thought. I don't think people would be very impressed if you went around saying that either. They're just two different drugs, some people like one better some people the other. If they win the lottery or become homeless they probably won't switch them.

$100/g meth vs $135 for an 8th of coke, frequently - exact same prices as where i used to live 1500 miles away

Oh, I threw the coke in the trash right after I copped it, there's nothing in it that I can't get out of a quad shot of espresso followed up by a savage beating and a ssri that triggers suicidal fixation.

I think that gives the crystal a ratio of infinity to 1

the person who said that meth is a poor man's cocaine was probably high on cocaine. gotta love that ego.

personally, i'll take meth over cocaine anyday. (usually know the chemist and purity, though)

I'm confused too, which is why I posted this. I always thought it was "a poor person's coke" until a friend told me a gram costs more than a gram of coke (also depending on where U live) but now I'm thinking that the gram will last U longer, the high lasts longer and is more intense.

Personally, I prefered coke but because of my recent experience with meth and problems coke was causing me . . . I'm not going to do either anymore.

I was also thinking that those who call it "poor person's coke" are misinformed or are basing their info on who uses it. Like, how many successful business-people use Meth versus coke. I couldn't function at a job high on meth and it takes a day or two to recover.

I can also see how a woman doing it could easily turn to prostitution to get the $$$ and because, to me, Meth was an aphrodesiac.

I think the primary use of methamphetamine is to enhance work/study-related performance. If you don't overdose it's easy to seem sober on it.
