[MEGA] Meditation

^Is it renewable in a sense that is it is used up and then regnerated, or is it just something that continuously flows? I.e. is the Kundalini akin to magnetic forces in that they are not consumed rather they simply flow?

stonerfromohio: Have you experienced other Kundalini sensations? If so I'd love to hear about them :D.

Ive practiced a small amount of spinal breathing pranayama yogani's initial form of practice that is used before meditation to "cultivate your nervous system" and ive felt energy flowing up through the Sushumna channel when practicing this. Throughout prayer or contemplative mantra I have also experienced what I would call Kundalini shivers where a quick euphoric burst of energy ascends up my spine and dissipates throughout my body towards the crown.

Kundalini, is another name for the Chinese Chi, or libidinal energy. It flows and makes us be alive and function. People who lack motivation, this energy's unrestricted flow is in question.
Blocks occure everywhere, neural associations and the structure of our system and where it all has gone out of wack is the problem. This is where the opening of the gates/plexusses assists in opening the unconscious, and release the flood of this energy where it is supressed, repressed, or otherwise involved in holding emotions and instincts down.

It is the same quota we have but otherwise misaligned.
Dynamic meditation assists in releasing the blockages and restore the flow, even though temporarily, but if you continue with it it can assist in the long run, hopefully with some other working through.

Some agree some want to give their own version of it, whatever!

I've experienced kundalini from dissolving meditations. Different from spinal breathing methods in that instead of drawing breath up and down the spine the process focuses on dissolving energy blocks in the spinal channel so that the kundalini naturally rises. Different paths, same goal perhaps. Some people say that its safer but slower.

I've been practicing with meditation for a while now, mainly as a stress reliever.. i hadn't had to much success until just recently.. where i believed i reached a state of 'oneness' as this feeling peaked i burst into uncontrollably laughter for a few mins, and proceeded to feel very floaty afterwards.

I thought it was strange i burst into laughter? But the feeling was so intense and i guess unexpected that i couldn't control my reaction to it.

EDIT: I just realized my post might come across as sarcastic or taking a stab? I'm completely serious, i actually did a bit of reading.. and they mentioned in group meditation that some people can for no apparent reason burst into laughter.

^Laughter or crying can accompany any extreme state. Laughter seems to be a physical way to release energies related to absurdity or contradiction. Meditating certainly brings one closer to the Infinite Absurd :)

Ya that's a cool visualization. I'll have to try it. I use meditation to help me though withdrawals, and it's hard sometimes to keep focused when your body wants to do it's own thing.

Try Yoga Nidra meditation it helps with WD and relaxing the body, anyone can do it even if body is bit restless, just listen to instructions for 10-20mins and its done laying on your back so no need to focus sitting upright. Google yoga nidra. just a thought helped me alot.

Cheers Tim

^I've found various forms of mediataion very helpdful as am going through minor benzo withdrawal at the moment. It is probably the best way (with exercise) to meditate as often as possible, even if be for short moments, several times a day. I am not rigid with how I meditate....

I don't see why you thought your comment would sound sarcastic.
You are describing the release of your bound energy, that became unrestricted and naturally was followed by joy, but also other emotions bound to it! that is what the effect of meditation is-releasing your energy!
Emotions are-energy in motion!:)

meditation: waves of relaxation?

i've noticed that while i'm trying to individually relax each part of my body, I'll be able to relax an area inside my body that seems to control urination and possibly some other things as well, and when I do this I get very pleasurable waves of relaxation... anyone know what i'm talking about?

I had a one powerful Kundalini experience -- but I didn't realize until years after it happened that was what it must have been.

This was a while ago... about 8 or 9 years ago, but I still remember it quite well.

I was very interested in spirtuality at that time in my life, and was exploring mediatition, and having a direct relationship with God/Universe. One night I was mediatating, and I was going pretty 'deep' , is one word that I can think of to describe it.

I felt my awarness growing of my surroundings...not much longer after that I began to feel an incredible energy growing, at the base of my spine. The energy began to rise up my spine. As it, I felt less connection of my body.

The energy was incredible. It felt like pure electricty; pure voltage. Like my spine got plugged into a wall socket. It was a long time ago but I can still remember how intense it was. It honestly felt like I had about 100 volts running up and down my body. My ears began to ring a little bit, and I began to get somewhat frightened, as this had never happened before in my mediatations.

Once the electricity travelled the length of my spine, and reached my head, I had a intense spirtual experience. A white figure -- well, certainly a spirit -- materialized above me (I was lying down in my bed.) It was both translucent and phorsphoresecent and glowing. It was about 1.5-2 metres from my face.

Ya I know this may sound unbelievable, but it is the truth, believe it or not (I'm only sharing this because of the anonymous nature of this message board...I'd never tell this to someone casually, in person.) Seeing the spirit gave me a sheer, animal panic -- although logically I would assume the spirit to be friendly, at the time, it was a terrifying experience, and completely unexpected.. as if I entered my kitchen and ran into a polar bear. It was sheer terror. I ended the meditation as soon as I could.

As I was saying, it wasn't until years later that I read about the Kundalini energy and realized that that was happened. While spirtuality has always been important to me , I 've never really wanted to explore this experience any further. But I can certainly attest that it is real.

I haven't read any Kundalini literature in a long time, but basically , I would describe the experience (to people that don't have much meditation background) as plugging yourself into a higher reality by connecting your base chakra to some sort of power network that makes up our universe.

That's a cluster of nerves that surrounds the lower end of your aorta, and coordinates most of the functions in your lower abdomen. It corresponds to the second lowermost of your chakras, Swadhisthana.

Each of your chakras also corresponds to a particular endocrine gland, as well as a neuronal ganglion. In this case, it's the gonads. Exercising this chakra via meditation should help your sex life, as a side benefit.

One drug that is pure kundalinin: DPT. Seriously, that substances vibrates at the frequency of OM and the OM sigil is one seen quite often under its effects....

AUM

That was nice of you to place that interesting link there my lost friend!
I will make sure to read it! I hope you are keeping well:)<3

Yes, please do! It's got some interesting and well intended info(although it can get really wordy IMHO lol).

Trying to as much as I can. But it seems for every healthful practice I have there is also an unhealthful one I indulge in heh... Actually just finished some meditation to end the weekend right and start refreshed tomorrow.

Be well LivingInTheMoment! :)

Jert, from some of the things I've seen I wouldn't deny your experience for a moment!

You open up the plexuses, by certain exercises. You must have seen some African kind of dancing that opens up the energy chanels and the person goes into a wild dance, either rythmical or arythmical, and the eyes rolling after a while, thrown into that trance like wild dance.
If you want to get into it deeply, join a group that does this form of meditation, the moderator knows how to awaken it, and increase it!

I started some Kundalini Yoga today with a fellower BLer, and I greatly look forward to some results :D!

What is this meditation?

Okay, so I went to a meditation class today offered by my university. I can't remember the name of the exact type of meditation ( I wanna say it starts with a P??)... anyways, it was pretty cool. The instructor talked a lot about detatching yourself from your thoughts and opening yourself up to whatever is happening in the moment, rather than attempting to control everything in your life. "Mindfulness", was a term he used a lot, and described it as being aware of what is going on in your body and in your surroundings and sort of seperating it from the thoughts that bombard your brain all the time.

I thought it was pretty interesting, because I am a person that is contantly worrying, and trying to plan ahead and it causes me a lot of stress. I think it would be good to learn more about it. I'm going to try to go to the class once a week (it's offered every Wednesday). This first class we just sat and focused on breathing, but he said eventually we would practice walking meditation and other things.

Does anyone have an info or expierence with meditation (again, I'm sorry I don't remember the name, I just know it's a Buddist meditation)??? Do you find that it helps you in your everyday life?
