First Time X-ng in a Techno Club
For many of you more experienced folks, this may seem a bit lame, but after last nights experience, I feel compelled to share it with you.
I started experimenting with E over the past 6 months. Most of the 10-12 times, i hung out in the privacy of my own home and just relaxed....
Me and a friend (will call him Brent) picked a date a month ahead of time and decided that we hang out in Hartford to check out the club scene.
My bud is not very into techno, but with an open mind he aggreed to "humor me."
Yesterday was the day...I was so excited about it, i felt like a little kid.
10:00PM, i chewed up two pills and chased them... Brent showed up on my doorstep with a friend of his that I had never met. I instantly took to this guy and felt as though i had known him. It felt good, sometimes you just have that perfect blend of personalites and i could feel that we were all excited.
on the way to hartford, we stopped to check out some of the ladies at a topless bar. while the guys enjoyed it for a bit, i was still looking forward to scoping the club scene i had heard so much about.
11:30 i chewed two more pills and 20 minutes later i was rolling quite nicely. shortly after, we headed back out onto the road. I asked one of the other guys to drive since they were using more repsonsible then i was.
We arrived in Downtown Hartford and parked.
We hopped out of the truck and headed out into the cold air. It was blustery and none of us were very familiar with the city. We found ourselves unsure of the quickest route to the clubs and being miserably uncomfortable...at that point i suggested that we hit the first place that had heat and try to talk rationally once we got inside.
We found ourselves in a very crowded bar and organized our thoughts before heading back out. as i looked up and around the room, i noticed something that gave me the chills. All the people in this place were extremely unattractive. ALL of them. And they all seemed to look the same. I pointed it out to Brent, he looked around and said, jeez you're right...it was erie, not because these people weren't attractive, but because it didn't look like your avg. crowd in a bar...it was a beyond strange.
Back outside we went and cut through an alley between two huge buildings...the wind poored, blustering and pounding us...it was almost a bit disorientating.
Thats it, we saw the first club and walked right in...
We were frisked thoroughly, which i found bizarre, but the guy at the door was one of the most cool bouncers i have ever encountered. He found a bottle of ephedrine in my front pocket and asked me politely to leave it at the front.
We trudged in and i saw what i could only describe as the strangest scenes i have ever encountered in my life. Mime looking characters on small tables every 20 or so feet. Their faces painted white, with bright red circles on their cheeks..they moved rythmically, robotically....they almost looked like dead zombies...
The music was nothing like i expected it to
be. I pictured songs like "Better off alone" being played. But this was entirely different. The music pulsated and rolled, and went around and up and up again into circles and finally peaked with the most peircing fire engine siren sound... Finally it exploded and the room blew up with bursts of "orgasms" from the strobe lights.
I was in awe, at the whole experience. I felt so ignorant for never being exposed or knowing something so incredible existed.
2:30am I dropped 2 again and stood there soaking myself into the environment. The music was not music any more... it seemed to become an incredible tool that took me on a ride to somewhere inside myself that felt so foriegn...that it kind of felt just a touch frightning..
It was a complete thrill and i had no idea that music could be so powerful.
For you old timers, im sure you have chuckled to yourselves and i don't blame you one bit.
As a newbie to the scene i always look for insightful posts that communicate experiences on a level that i can actually understand. details, details. I want to know exactly what its like.
I hope i have been able to give something back to people that have not had a chance to experience this.
