With more and more threads popping up in the ecstasy discussion about being mentally unstable from MDMA, i wanted to gather some real information for my self. Trust me i have read through many research papers and studies on MDMA, i don't roll often now but i use to research a lot. So it's not about me being lazy and wanting easy information, but i realize a lot of people on the ADD actually know their shit and aren't in denial. Can someone give me some in depth information on what to be worried about regarding MDMA neurotoxicity and damage. Please don't give me the bit of we aren't sure if it is neurotoxic , i am pretty sure we all know by now MDMA is a pretty heavy neurotoxin. Anyways , does it cleave serotonin axon terminals for good? Does it actually re wire the majority of your serotonin system. Does it lower your transporter count for good, i know some general info on MDMA and some pretty in depth information as well. Just wanted to see the pro's insight on the subject.

this!

mdma punishes you with overuse, occassional binges to me are easy to get over, regular weekly use seems to fuck you up more. YMMV

nuerotoxins are dose related

nuerotoxins are dose related
Frequency of use ≠ dose.
Emotional capability to handle the hangover ≠ degree of neurotoxicity.

There is enough evidence at this point to be able to predict that MDMA is somewhat neurotoxic to humans. The way it does this is when your receptors or w/e are overflowed with serotonin they recede back into the neuron and cannot be activated for a good amount of time until your brain goes back to equilibrium without MDMA. Then to my knowledge they grow back, but in different patterns afterward since the change in receptor density alters the flow of serotonin in some way. This could be said to "rewire" your serotonin system, but this is not necessarily negative.
This has nothing to do with neurotoxicity. It is receptor downregulation, combined with cellular symptoms of synaptic remodeling. Both are worlds apart from actual neurotoxicity. It's simple: neurotoxin + neuron = dead neuron. It's not: neurotoxin + neuron = I feel bad for a day but then I'm okay again.

Ah 3rd I Blind we meet again. I remember Pm'ing you with a few questions on a related topic, you gave some nice responses. Perhaps i will read through those messages again. And don't worry i am not afraid of what damage i may have caused my self, i am over that stage. I am just merely trying to refresh my memory and gather more in depth information on the potential risks there are if I decide to roll again in the near future.
