Let me start off by saying Im not asking this for me (im a guy) but for a friend of mine and a fellow bluelighter whos no longer on here. She just found out a few weeks ago she is 5 months pregnant. She said due to ireggularites always in her cycle she didnt know she was pregnant for so long.

During this time she consumed mdma approx 5 seperate times. No huge binges, just 1-2 pills spaced out over 4 months. My question is, what are the chances of the mdma having harmed the fetus? Is there any documented research anywhere on the affects of mdma on an unborn child? I know there doesnt seem to be any permanant effects on adults, but she was kind of worried there might be some effects. I was also very curious to know this. Any first hand experiances or reputable research would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: All drug use, including nicotine, has stopped since she found out.

do not use drugs while pregnant, period. CUT and DRY i don't care what anyone says, it is dangerous and "whoever" will seriously fuck up their babies life, it is selfish too. I heard reports that pot actually could be beneficial to a baby in the womb, but it's probably bullshit

If you guys read. ^ she did NOT know she was preagnant. She needs to go see a doctor and tell him the truth IMMEDIATLEY

^ Indeed.

I always thought it was polite to at least read the first post, if nothing else.

I would agree - some expert advice would go a long way.

Not expert enough - this is a child's life we're talking about here. I could give you my opinion but I'm not anywhere near qualified enough to certify it and I wouldn't want to risk you trusting it.

I read it, breifly, I took the post off but admit to mis-reading and typing up a rather crap post directed at the girl as I thought she was dropping readilly whilst pregnant.my bad, I apologise, jumped the gun and so on... I'm an ass'o for not reading it properly, it almost looks like a different post this time.

I think she should go to the doctors and tell him about it, I mean why not ?, it's her childs future of a good life after all. The only thing I'm freaked about is that we're told to drink lots of fluids whilst on E, did she? ... doesn't even matter there's too many things that can go wrong.

defo to the doctors and get her to own up.

hmmm well i have an undisclosed friend who was in the same boat, didnt find out she was pregnant until 5 months in. during that time, we dropped every 1-2 weeks, about 3 pills per night. thats a considerably heavier amount of use than your friend, and the baby is fine (BIG PHUKEN PHEW)

i dunno what a doctor could do, they havent researched it enought to know what it does during pregnancy surely? sounds like going to the doc would just put unwanted stress on the mother.

hoping its all ok :) you can tell her about my friend, it will probably make her feel better that someone who went alot harder in the same period has a perfectly happy, healthy baby.

obvously, ALL drug usage was stopped as soon as pregnancy was discovered in this case too.

This is a very hard situation. If you use the search engine (perhaps search for "MDMA pregnancy") then you'll find a few threads about this.

Obviously one wants to avoid all drugs during pregnancy in an ideal world.

There is *some* argument that MDMA may not be neurotoxic to an early-stage fetus due to the initial lack of the enzyme monoamine oxidase B. On the other hand there are studies which show that significant MDMA fetal exposure (in rats) can lead to offspring which appear to have measurably affected behavioural traits.

The decision to carry the child is obviously her own, but I feel that she should seek proper medical advice on the subject. Doctors are far more qualified to talk about such things than myself.

Do not do this! Being honest about situations like this are important when talking to your doc. Your friend, surely wants what is best for her baby. I'm sure the mother is stressed out, but one cannot just ignore a problem like this. Yeah its gonna suck and it is unfortunate, but that is life and you have to face shitty problems like this every now and then.

yeah but i wonder what they could do, if any damage was there then its already done, possibly a vitamin supplement? im not discounting the idea but i wonder if a doc would be any use at all here?

Same thing I was thinking. My friend said she was gonna tell the doc everything, and thats fine, but I was worried about a totally biased opinion such as "e puts holes in your brain, and your childs too" or something like that. Thanks for the input guys.
