Matrine (kappa-opoid agonist) ?

Salvinorin is unique among the kappa-opioid agonists that it seems to have a relatively selective & strong agonist activity, producing hallucinations, etc. I have heard that longer-lasting kappa agonists are not as pleasant.

Then again, some compounds do not activate KOR enough to produce hallucinogenic effects.

Either way I wouldn't want to attempt to find a psychedelic dose of this compound.

I agree with sekio. If this compound last any longer than 15 minutes or so, it probably won't be fun (even to those who enjoy salvia). I have tried butorphanol before and I can tell you it is NOT fun. I just felt really weird and odd for quite a while.

So maybe it has salvinorin-like activity, but I would probably recommend against taking it.

I've taken a quite a few intranasal saline squirts of butorphanol in my time, and I find it extremely disorienting; like akin to drinking a 12-pack of beer, but in a few seconds. It also really overheated me. At times even felt like I was on higher doses of DXM, where you can't do anything but lay down, not being able to physically focus my eyes on anything.

I'm assuming I took way too high a dose each time, but still.

^ Ditto, similar experiences with levallorphan (lorfan) many many years ago. It's a full kappa agonist and a mixed agonsit/antagonist at mu. Euphoria was marginal at best. It was sedating, and very dissociative and spaced out. It felt like how I would imagine it would be to combine a threshold dose of salvia, a low dose of codeine, and a hero dose of ketamine. I have this vivid memory of taking a piss in a public washroom, looking down, getting hit by a tsunami of disorientation and shouting out "what the hell, who's dick is this in my hand?!?"

Fortunately there was no one else around or I might have ended up in a padded cell.

Edit: Yeah this matrine stuff sounds nasty. It's under investigation as an insecticide for termites.
