Mass Shootings and Gun Debate 2018 Thread

NPR has 63%.

It?s closer to 2/3rds not 3/4 I apologize for the fake news I keep stats in my head so it?s easy to mix stuff up.

And ya anti gun is anti human. You?re taking guns away from law abiding citizens and allowing criminals and the state to only have access to them, the 2 groups of people most likely to kill you is totally anti human.

So this shooter was an SJW.
Muslim animal-loving vegan.
I wonder if they will highlight that and how long the story will remain in the MSM.

I'd say that was pretty smart if I thought it was deliberate. Because you're basically saying that when this story disappears, which it likely will, quite quickly, because there aren't enough victims and it's not at a school or other place you find children. If it weren't YouTube it wouldn't be as big as it is already. Anyway, when it inevitably disappears, you can then immediately say it's because the mainstream media somewhat agrees with the shooters politics. Point it out now and you can strengthen that argument.

The story will be gone fast, that's also my prediction, unless there is something else more sensational to be revealed. But not for the reason you suggest.

It's kinda funny, I think we both distrust the mainstream media, we both see this story disappearing fast and both for reasons that aren't particularly just. But still those reasons are completely different.

My interpretation was that he meant she is pro Muslim not Muslim herself. Who knows maybe he means a lover of Muslim animals.

It is on topic. And the nationality of a shooter matters a lot.
Unless it counters the narrative of mass shooter = white conservative male, or ban all guns except handguns.
If someone was wearing a maga hat it would be relevant.

nasim aghdam was a u.s. citizen.

i think you touch on an important point.

when this broke, i'm sure some people just assumed this was an attack by a muslim. the shooter was not muslim. or she had to be an illegla immigrant, right? she was not. but she didn't fit the comfortable narratives associated with gun violence so people just started making them up: People Are Molding Their Responses to Nasim Aghdam to Fit the Shape of Their Bigotry

this case is notable because she didn't fit the profile of common shooters in incidences like this one. but there is one common factor: she chose a gun.

Yeah, I bet if she could go to a bomb show and buy a bomb, she'd have chosen a bomb. So I guess it's lucky we don't have bomb shows. Oh wait, that wasn't luck...

Because it's not like it's something you can learn from an hour on the internet... using materials that you can acquire legally, without ID or registration..

Yeah my point is that we're lucky that she didn't, she could have killed many more people with a bomb than a gun.
She failed to kill anyone.

Also what is your point? It's not realistic to think that you could ever stop people from using a gun to mount an attack.
That guy in the video wished he had a gun to defend himself against a crazy criminal, but gun restrictions in that state probably didn't allow it.
