Notice all those with so called CUD in the study were hospitalized for reasons never given in the NYT article [outside of the hospitalization being somehow caused by CUD]. Checking the study does not clear things up much.

I wonder what they mean "Mental Health Bed", as there is already a category for psychosis?

Also a lot of them have been in for other drugs, esp liqour.

Makes sense that if you're high all the time you have a higher risk of dying in a car crash or forklift accident or whatever

I agree it may be higher, but 3x higher claimed sounds way sus.

In this longitudinal population-based cohort study of 11.6 million people, we found that individualswith hospital-based care for CUD were at a 6-fold elevated risk of death compared with individuals ofthe same age and sex. There continued to be a 3-fold increased risk of death when trying to isolatethe effect of CUD by accounting for further differences in sociodemographic and comorbid mentaland substance use disorders and other chronic health conditions

I personally quite enjoy so many things that increase the risk of death.. it would be a tragedy if im unfortunate enough to live well into old age.. ha thats not happening.. I'm just saying grass. Id like to see the numbers that compare reading the news compared to consuming THC. What promotes death quicker?
