Just wondering if it would be safe, or more importantly if it's been tried yet?

The question is WHY. (Unless you take MAOI's medicinally)

4-AcO-DMT is perfectly active and very potent orally. There is absolutely no need to take the unnecessary risk of augmenting it with a MAOI. The only use for a MAOI is to activate drugs that don't work otherwise.

^This. But yes, it should be safe. I certainly heard of people using a MAOI with mushrooms without problems.

Thats why I asked the question because of the common use of maois with mushrooms.

It is not really common and it shouldn't be.

MAOI's actually compromise health. (Reasonable) people use them only out of necessity (IMO).

I used psilohuasca once and I found it far too hardcore. Some MAOIs compromise health more than others, the first and utmost thing to consider is combinations with compounds that can be in trivial things like food, drinks, cigarettes or pharmaceuticals.
Necessity is something quite besides the point regarding drugs if you ask me, it is never necessary to use drugs recreationally but the dangers involved always have to be weighed on a scale by the user. If something is worthwhile or acceptable in terms of chance of doing harm vs. the gain is what it is mostly about.
In drug use land it happens far too often that too much risk is being taken for a mere couple of hours of fun. Fun that apparently can't be had in a more safe and responsible manner. It's not right at all but it is reality and harm reduction should always be thought of in relative terms. People need to accept that and just regulate that fact, it is annoying when people ask: do you really NEED to take those drugs? Of course not but lots of people are nevertheless inclined to. Just like we take the car to go out to a party and risk certain death in traffic? Is that necessary? I think they call this reductio ad absurdum.

To Jamshyd for clarity: I agree that in I personally don't think using MAOIs is worth the risk in most cases but I still plan on trying moclobemide with synthetic DMT once in my life, they are readily available for that experiment. I however will not try a MAOI, not even one that sounds fine like moclobemide, with a 'research chemical' tryptamine. All the sounds I have heard about 5-MeO-DMT with MAOIs give me a spooky feeling about it and that is where I draw the line. Everyone else can draw their line wherever they like, after doing lots of reading of course.

Yes, DMT or mushrooms can be combined with MAOIs but a lot of research has to be done up front and you have to abide by certain rules otherwise it can be very dangerous.

4-AcO-DMT has a lot of seeming similarities to 4-HO-DMT and other 4- or otherwise substituted tryptamines that are in mushrooms but it remains a relatively uninvestigated compound when it comes to combinations, interactions, long term effects, etc.

Combining a tryptamine with a MAOI instead of without increases risks, combining a lesser known tryptamine with a MAOI makes it even riskier. A difference is you don't know in what way or to what extent though.

Ask yourself if that is worth the experiment and live with the consequences.

I've used mushrooms with rue and it's a wonderful combination IMO.

Rue and caapi are RIMA:s so they are really not that dangerous when used responsibly. They really do add to the mushrooms, creating a deeper, more spiritual experience.

4-aco is metabolized to psilocin so the effects should be similar. But yeah, tread with caution here. MAOI:s in general are nothing to be toyed with, you must be sure you understand the effects and dangers of using them.

yea, ground rue seed, about a teaspoon, is rather safe, being a reversible inhibitor of MAO-A (RIMA), as noted above.

And I also agree, it DOES make shrooms feel more deeply spiritual, less of a mindfuck, though one might expect the opposite. Also lets you do less... 1.5g shroom feels very intense, more like 3g when doing them with the rue seed.

I think you may have misinterpreted what I meant by "necessity". I was not saying it is a necessity for the user, but rather a necessity to the drug they're used to activate. The fact is that you cannot take DMT orally, period, thereby necessitating the use of a MAOI.

But with something like Psilacetin, it works fine as-is. It does not need anything to make it active, and seeing that it is so potent, it does not need anything to potentiate it.

Hope this clarifies :)
