MAO Over-Expression - Is this a thing?

Since my last thread didn't get a response I've simplified my question.

Is there any evidence that MAO can be over-expressed due to excessively high levels of specific neurotransmitters?

An example scenario might be long-term high dose amphetamine use. Could this induce MAO up-regulation as a homeostatic response to the high dopamine levels?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

If such an effect exists it is unreported in the literature to my knowledge

But have the necessary studies been conducted to rule this out as a common mode of neural adaptation?

Progesterone increases MAO levels which leads to the depression side effects from some oral contraceptives.
