Where the magic playas at?!? And what current deck-type are you running.

I am currently playing a modified Grixis-Control Mill deck.

haha I played this back in my schooldaze, so like 15 years ago now...I ran a black deck (naturally)/ black and red when facing doods who could play.

Is that chaos orb card still the holy grail i remember it being worht a couple hndred pounds when I was young.

i used to play probably 9 or 10 years ago, it was a great game. i tried to play again recently and it has gotten way too complicated, too many new rules and abilities.

I think the last block I played was invasion. IF I could go back to then, I would play the hell out of the game some more. But the game has gotten to convoluted and craptacular that I just couldn't be bothered.

Back in the day I ran an all Red deck that usually won or lost in 10 minutes... and not just one game I'm talking the best of the 3. There were a few players who slowed it down for more consistancy, but I always did ok.

I miss turn 1 raging goblin, turn two raging goblin/shock turn 3 urza's rage, turn 4 skizzik.
it almost always happened like that. Going second killed me, and most control decks were too slow.. After turn four it was just a battle to see if I could catch enough burn for the win. If it was control I just waited out the mana for the Urza's rage.

I used to play about 13-15 years ago in my school days. A blue and white deck for no other reason than I liked the colours, I think I had a reasonable amount of green cards too :D .... I wonder if I still have them lying around somewhere....

sounds kind of like a "sligh" deck, i had one as well but I used cards from all the sets.

ball lightnings
skizziks
blistering firecats
raging goblins
lightning bolts
blazing salvos
skullscorches
mog fanatics
shocks

shit was fucking brutal

The thing I hate about the XBOX-Live version is that when you play with people online, most will leave the games when they are about to be defeated.

As far as the new cards/sets go, don't be intimidated by all of the new "rules". Most sets introduce new mechanics that allow for new deck themes and combos. It's actually a good time to be playing Magic, there are plenty of commons and uncommons that are really strong. You don't have to be the hardcore tradesman to build a decent deck, unlike the old days...

Play this on the xbox a lot. Good craic. Use a White deck most of the time or sometimes a White and Green combo.

I remember i had a lbaack card that was boss, spirit of the night or summat it was a 6/8. i cant really remember the rules. I mostly just liked the artwork.

haha, oh man, i was just reminded of my first good deck. it was a green (sometimes with some red fireballs and mana blasts thrown in). it was a quick mana deck, had tons of 1/1 creatures that you could tap for mana. in a few turns it was easy to get out those giants 10/10 trample creatures that were prevelant in green. ahh, twas fun back in the day, like i said before now its way too complicated for me to want to get back into (and kinda nerdy to tell you the truth, but i was always kinda a nerd anyway)

I haven't played since high school either.
Back when I played I mostly used a Blue/White core rounded out 5 color denial deck.
As far as I recall there was nothing like busting a dual land, sol ring, sol ring, howling mine first turn followed up with timewalk & ancestral recall turn 2.
Talk about game on.
Multiple howling mines, denial cards, ivory tower/black vise, millstones, sylvan library all kinds of fun.
Basically I would deny & mines/millstones to run opponent out of cards, or black vise with some direct damage if it worked out that way.
I tossed in some land destruction for shits & giggles
Either way I remember that deck owned. :)
Now if only I hadn't sold my collection when I went to college, I bet those alpha/beta cards would be worth mint now. :!
