Tldr; dried the extract at 410 f in an oven, not nessicarilly burnt, but the sides of the pan were black and bubbly. Any idea what mitragynine degrades into when under that sort of heat for about 2 hours?
It was with everclear as well as motherwort and Saint John's wort. It had already been tinctured before, that time with lemongrass, lemon balm, licorice, chamomile, and bags of both sleepy time extra tea and cats claw tea.
I strained the tincture, but there was lots of alcohol still left in the menstruum (herbs soaked), so I made a mildly alcoholic cold water extract by just soaking in filtered water. This is still in the fridge.
I then made a hot (boiling, steeped) water extract, multiple times, and essentially made a muddy, very wet kratom sludge, removing all of the larger pieces of plant material. Then I filtered it a final time, and dried it on a glass baking sheet at 410 degrees farenheit in the oven.
I got to it right as the last bit of water was evaporating at the bottom, but think I was a bit late, the water would have still evaporated if I got to it 5/10 mins earlier, and also probably put it at too high a temp trying to dry it faster. It took a long time to scrape from the pan. Very sticky. And I even needed some everclear after that.
Anybody know what mitragynine degrades into?
Honestly I wouldn't recommend this much work for the like 3-5 grams of tar I got. Haven't tried it yet. It's an 'off' day.
