Hello I am currently withdrawing from benzos. I amd own to 1 mg of valium, which idk if it is the last stage do most people go to .5 after? But yea ive been given lyrica fora f ew months. It has helped a lot. I take 75/150/100 now and will up to 75/150/150 when im on zero valium. Im really scared that im gonna get myself into the same mess. As far as side effects. I cant really tell what is what. My thinking is very cloudy, but benzo wtihdrawal can cause this too. As far as weight gain, I havent really eaten in 8 days so obviously the benzo withdrawal is effecting me. I cant go through this gain. iw as planning on staying on lyrica tikl the withdrawal subside and then decreasing to 75/100/100. I dont know if lyrica is good to take long term, though i wish i could just have it work forever. Is the withdrawal gonna take like 2 years to get over like my last benzo withdrawal? I cvant do it again. I have nothing anymore. ALl my strenght has been taken. The girl i loved dumped me cause of my benzo withdrawal. Please someone tell me about lyrica withdrawal. I would taper off very slowly like over the couerse of months.

Lyrica withdrawal in those dosages would be very very mild, and don't even come close to the pain of benzo withdrawal! Just take things one thing at a time man. You will be fine. Use the Lyrica as long as you need to, Lyrica withdrawal is virtually non existent in the dosages you are taking. Most of Lyrica's withdrawal only lasts 14 days MAX anyway.

Best of luck to you. I am in the same boat when it comes to benzo's and other GABAergics.

hey i went through this also but went to neurontin instead of lyrica and it ended up not helping anyway so i just quit. But I want to respond to your last post. No it don;t last forever even though at times it felt like it Been over a yr since i had benzo addiction and i don't even think much about it till i see someone like you. Hang in don't give up. I have done drugs for twenty four yrs and now only take two mgs sub a day and quitting and will be cutting that soon also and I am now living. I don't deny I didn't like the high but the hell of withdrawal took any fun out of using along time ago goodluck and peace ash

wel im glad you were able to get over it. it does feel like forever tho haha ty

I managed after a 6 month taper. Hang in there. It is doable.

I wouldn't worry about Lyrica w/d. I don't think it even has a w/d 'syndrome'. I've been off and on it frequently without any problems.

I wish Lyrica was around when I did it.

Good luck and hang in. It is something I do not want to have to repeat again.

I've been on much, much higher dosages of Lyrica than you've described for months at a time and due to some unfortunate pharmacy mix-ups, ended up having to go 28 days without ANY pregabalin.

...And I was fine. I was able to function perfectly normally, I did not feel as if I were about to enter delerium tremens, or anything even milder - no seizure activity, depression, lethargy, appetite suppression, etc.

It's just one more reason why I'm trying to supplant my semi-ridiculous monthly benzo intake with purely pregabalin. There's no reason to worry if you, for one reason or another, run out.

I'm sure it has to do with the fact that pregabalin does not work directly on the GABA receptors, nor the BZD subreceptors, but rather works to block Ca++ (calcium) influx into neurons. I'm pretty sure, in that regard, it has more to do with glutamate than with GABA.

So, OP, not to worry. And you most certainly do not have to worry about similar withdrawal symptoms as benzodiazepines; w/d from benzos is a million and one times worse, and takes a million and one times longer to complete (if it ever is truly completed).

Smile! :) You've got Lyrica!

If you go to askapatient.com, you can see tons of horror stories of people wdn from both lyrica and neurontin. They DO cause wds, and some people have described them as just as bad as benzos.

Just to be objective about this. Taper off them too whenever you can.

I'll taper when my benzo withdrawal subsides. I understand that some people may have terrible withdrawal I just wanna make sure that it wont take 2 years

Don't sweat the Lyrica.

If you can get through a benzo taper you have endured much worse.

You learn something new everyday... I suppose simply because I alone did not experience massive (or any) withdrawals from cessation of Lyrica (~300mg/day for 5 months) does not mean that it's impossible; maybe I am just one of the lucky ones. Thanks for that info Bojangles.

Lyrica definitely has withdrawals... Quite similar to benzos but they don't last as long. I felt withdrawals from it after only being on it for four days. :/

Lyrica has some NASTY withdrawals.... a bit different that benzos, more mental and less physical. I felt like i was going insane, mild hallucinations, bizarre thought patterns....the physical part was closer to opiates than to benzos. This was after a two week binge, with daily dosages between 600mg and 2,250mg. The worst was over after 14 days.

i think anyone who has been addicted to benzos will tell you it is nowhere near as bad. the way i see it lyrica is to benzos what tramadol is to opiates. both can produce very nice effects and can be addictive but the withdrawals are nothing compared to C-IV and C-II meds. there is a reason it is C-V, basically not scheduled at all.

hmm well Ill do one thing at a time I guess. IM planning on staying on lyrica until the benzo withdrawal subsides, which I know may be a very long time. Im gonna up my lyrica to to 400 mg a day cause im going down to .5 valium in a few days. Then im off of em. I hate benzos so much. It should be illegal to perscribe them for more then 2 weeks. I lost my girlfriend and cant go to school cause of this. ANd im not even fucking off of them yet,.

i had no troubles quitting after 1 200mg / per day for 14 days then cold turkey for few weeks

i had major troubles with temazepam. if you survived benzos you will have nothing to worry about

Luckily, I was able to refill my script today - but for two days, I was without Lyrica and experienced these "head zaps" (familiar to me upon ceasing to take my Effexor and Lexapro prescriptions in the past). I was not, though, aware that Lyrica withdrawal could cause these symptoms. Has anyone who has been on >200mg of Lyrica/day and has gone through withdrawal experienced these symptoms?

I should mention that upon taking my daily dose again, the "head zaps," these little electrical-like jolts that happen concurrently on either side of my frontal-temporal lobe junctions, stopped completely. But I have never been able to find rhyme nor reason behind their occurring at all.

i did lyrica for months 450-600mg a day and still have it scripted for chronic pains after a bike accident a couple of years ago.
Duo vacation i couldn't get a new packageof them and had to stop for a couple of days . it was pretty bad for, wild nightmares sweeting , not much sleep and feeling crappy and unmotivated overal and every day things that need to be done felt a much tougher to get done.

i think it depends a lot on the person but lyrica def has some nasty side effects after taking them for a long period of time , i almost forgot that i was on lyrica till i didnt have any.
