The leaves and stems of a plant do not necessarily contain the same alkaloids. Generally the chemical makeup of different parts of the same plant vary in content. Maybe morning glories do, I don't know, but I wouldn't assume so.

Yeah, the Polish article claimed that the ratio of ergine to ergometrine was between 3:1 and 6:1 in the seeds, and something like 15:1 in the leaves and stems.


The glaucium flavum poppy plant, containing the alkaloid glaucine which has recently been identified as a 5-HT2A hallucinogen, has a much higher amount of some convulsant toxin in the roots and a high concentration of the glaucine in the stem, flowers and pods. That's one example about the alkaloid ratios varying between different parts of certain plants.
