I'm sure this has been asked before but I was unable to find detailed information by searching. Has there been any kind of research about what kind of damage snorting pills does in the long term (and how)? I can only find anecdotes and rumors, and only general knowledge about insufflation as a whole. I am looking for more detailed information, mostly about how all the inactive fillers used in pills affect mucous membranes and possibly other body parts. Starting to get some funky effects myself and I want to know how to minimize the damage.

If there's a thread about this that I failed to find, please point me there and feel free to move/remove this as needed.

^ I am not sure how much of an insufflated pill ends up in the lungs - it would depend on how hard/fast you snort and how much you attempt to snort at once. Fillers/binders certainly cound do damage in theory - they could cause a condition called pneumoconiosis, which is essentially an inflammatory condition caused by a reaction to small foreign particles in the lungs. I have read something on here about Opana being especially bad for this, but I can't find it noe and google hasn't been especially enlightening, sorry...

They could also irritate the upper airways and cause increased mucus (phlegm) production, which wouldn't cause long term damage but could create noticible symptoms.

What effects are you getting?

I was starting to get a sinus infection from my use...

I've also heard opana is especially bad; due to the micro-crystalline cellulose used as the time release mechanism.

Nothing serious, more annoying really. Some days it's lots of stuff coming out of my nose and eyes, like an allergic reaction. On others it's these really long bouts of sneezing rapidly that refuse to stop. The airway is blocked pretty much every morning, can't notice it while breathing but takes a lot of cleaning before air can travel fast enough to take a line. Becoming more painful too. I didn't used to snort so much, but for the last year or so I've been doing it several times a day, everyday. No worries, I'll stop if it becomes a big problem..in the meantime just trying to find an explanation as to what's going on.

Humans really need to evolve a hole purely for ingesting external chemicals safely with a high bioavailability. =D I'll go use my google-fu and post here if I find something useful. =)

Unfortunately it's called the arse if you're up to it and have pure enough chems...

^ ha was going to say that!

It sounds more like irritation of the upper airways causing increased mucous production, with "stuff coming out of your nose" and blocked airways, or perhaps a sinus infection/inflammation. The eyes part is a little unusual; it could be an allergic reaction, or coincidental conjunctivitis.. imppssible for us to say over the web really. Pneumoconiosis is more slowly-progressive and causes shortness of breath and a cough. If you are worried, I'd see your doctor - if you don't want to specify you've been insufflating drugs you could say you've been inhaling dust or something (not that I advocate lying to a doc) - pneumoconiosis is a catch-all term referring to damage done by inhaling small particles, traditionally coal dust but variations include talcosis and silicosis (from inhaling - or IVong - talc or silica respectively) - it can be caused by a wide variety of things. Opana has certainly been implicated as PJ says due to inactive ingredients in the pills, but I imagine other pills' fillers and binders could cause it too, theoretically at least.

Hehe yeah, I guess we already have a hole for that. I have sterile chems so I guess you guys just talked me into giving plugging a try. Beats dealing with a messed up nasal airway every morning.

I can't help but wonder if someone will come up with a guide on how to put opiates into e-cigarettes. That would be so great, you could just puff away in a public place and nobody would know.

Smoking pills would be worse systemically than blowing them constantly.

If you're using Roxycodone; just eat it: has a higher BA anyway.

Be careful with plugging. Halve your doses to start as it skips all metabolic processes and hits you straight off.

In my opinion, if it's reached a point where you're having problems and issues due to snorting the pills, it's time to find a new route of administration.

It's only going to get worse from here on out. Give up your short-lived rush and switch to oral. You could plug, it's highly effective. But whatever you do, you need to quit snorting pills, seriously.

Do not smoke pills.

Oh, I didn't mean smoking pills. E-cigarettes are small vaporizers which give water vapor that contains flavor and optionally nicotine. And in my case, VERY effective for quitting smoking. Someone has already come up with a way to smoke a THC extract from them, I was just pondering the possibility of puffing other substances. Seems reasonable that opioids could be made to work.

You're right Oxide, I'm going to start doing something about that. Apart from the act itself, plugging wasn't bad at all. Fast onset and really effective considering the dose. Guess I'll rotate methods for now and try to get a more reasonable dose RX.

Need HELP... does anyone know what exactly Tramadol 37.5/325mg APAP is? will it help if im dope sick? how many would i have to take to equal a roxycodone 30mg? SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER!! im very sick right now... waiting for a reply..

According to google and other posts around here about tramadol (of which there are many), it is a partial opioid agonist with slight SNRI activity. Depending on your tolerance and how sick you are, there is a potential for it to work. However, due to the SNRI effect, combining it with another drug (if you take anything else?) could pose a risk.

This question is worthy of a new thread; this thread is about damage caused by pill-binding fillers.

Hijacking threads is not cool. Do not do that, especially when you've started your own thread, and PMed me on the subject at hand to which I have replied. Also, it is a common courtesy to wait 24 hours before expecting a response on a message board. We all have lives outside of Bluelight.

To the OP, I'm going to close this for now, but if you would like to re-open this discussion feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to do so.

Thanks to pjkt for good advice anyway.
