Ive been using tums/rennies for 2 years now to potentiate my opiates. My concern is that I am seriously tampering with the acidity of my stomach. In the amounts im taking id imagine that im walking round with a basified stomach which could have some severe implications - what these are I am not 100 percent certain of.
My stomach is in a wretched state at the moment too. Quite literally anything that passes my lips causes fairly painful stomach cramps for hours afterwards.
Im just concerned that I may be phucking with my digestion my diet is shot to pieces since obviously eating or even drinking is more pain than its worth. Whether this can be attributed to the constant antacid dosing is suspect for the reason that the last time I took a 2 week break the problems became even more intense - it may be an ulcer or stress related digestive problem but still the original question stands.

I think you should see a doctor ... gastrointestinal problems can be very serious..

You are probably just dealing with upregulation of H2 sites. Take a little bit of antacid and ween yourself off of that stuff.

See a doctor.

Tums (calcium carbonate) is safe to eat in huge quantities, it might cause gas and constipation though. It's used as a calcium supplement too!
