Stimulants Lisdexamfetamine Psychosis

Just a thought. I just don't know what else to use. Melatonin hasn't helped, nor has diphenhydramine or doxylamine. I tried kava kava once and it helped a lot. Maybe I'll start on that again.

right now the only drugs I take are lisdexamphetamine, methylphenidate hydrochloride (as ritailin), and methamphetamine hydrochloride (as desoxyn). I can cut out the ritailin and desoxyn, but not the vyvanse because of my classes, especially since I have finals soon.

you may be able to get a medical waiver for an incomplete for your classes (this way you can finish them later and still get good grades)
you need to think about priorities and mental health should probably come first for you right now

LOL

The offical recipe for psychosis.
Not really, since I acquired my poor sleep schedule 4 months after I stopped taking psychedelics and cannabis.

I suppose. I'd jut hate for anyone to know about this.

It's still a recipe for psychosis without the psychedelics. Sleep deprivation + long-term amphetamine use = psychosis. And were you using psychedelics while also taking vyvanse daily? Even if you quit four months before having sleep deprivation, psychedelic use, ESPECIALLY when combined with stimulants, can still exacerbate your daily amphetamines' negative effects long after psychedelic use, making you more likely to develop amphetamine psychosis (I knew two people in high school who had to stop taking their Rx amphetamines, even though they weren't abusing them, because of their past psychedelic use, which somehow made amphetamines become very uncomfortable psychologically, worsening to the point where they did develop psychosis).

OP - first, stop taking any drug that isn't prescribed to you by your doctor. second, take your prescription(s) [are you taking any other Rx besides Vyvanse?] EXACTLY at the dosage and time suggested by your doctor. Do this for at least a week and see if you feel any different. You said that you already quit the halloucinogens and marijuana, so my guess is that you'll feel the same or maybe even a bit worse. (and stopping all drugs besides the ones Rx'ed by your doctor means NO other forms of amphetamines).

A massive root of your issues is sleep. You need to get your body clock straightened out. It is obviously that it is effecting almost everything you do. I would tell you to take your Vyvanse in the mornings, and don't consume any caffiene after lunchtime. I know school is busy and difficult, but you need to create a schedule for yourself. Choose a bedtime and stick to it. Set small goals first. On the nights right now that you only sleep 2-4 hours, for the first week make a goal of 4 sleeping hours every single night. Say you go to bed at 2am every single night, no matter what, and set the alarm for 6. Next week, shoot for 5 solid hours. The halloucinations you're experiencing are from major lack of sleep and the drugs are making it worse.

Do you see a psychologist? I have to assume that you do or did if somebody diagnosed you with major depressive disorder and ADD. If you haven't seen a psychologist in a long time, I think it would be a really good idea for you to do that, because IMHO it sounds like you may have bipolar disorder.

At any rate, it is imperitive you see your doctor as soon as possible and tell him/her about your halloucinations, make sure you tell the doctor how long ago you stopped taking the other halloucinogens and different types of amps (you needn't be too specific about the RC's if you don't want to be I suppose [if you're scared] but definitely make the doc aware that you were consuming psychadellics). Emphasize your lack of sleep and make sure you tell the doctor about all your symptoms, even if they may seem small or unimportant. Take a journal of symptoms for a few days before you go to the doctor; it will help both of you examine your issues that much better.

be well and I wish you luck.

^ +1 for this guy.

1) reduce or stop dosing
2) eat a huge meal and sleep till you can't any more
3) check if still feeling strange
4) Repeat for a week if needed

If it resolves after that its just a lifestyle change you need to make, with lower doses or more frequent breaks, if not please consult your doctor.

I highly doubt this is amphetamine induced psychosis!!!!
it does sound like you are having a psychotic break but that is no where near enough vyvanse to induce psychosis.... seriously those are completely normal therapeutic doses

however you should absolutely seek help but i think that the problem is slightly larger than 40 mg of vyvanse per day

Everyone is different! Some people may be much more predisposed to these kinds of side effects than others. Even if the OP was only taking that (which from their following post they have taken or are taking more things which could be contributing), I would not have jumped to the conclusion that it couldn't be due to/exacerbated by the Vyvanse. And drugs can be a trigger for people predisposed to things like schizophrenia.

I average about 2-4 hours of sleep a night. Important things I forgot; I take methylphenidate and sometimes desoxyn. I stopped for this semester, but I've taken high doses of 25-I-NBOMe, 25-C-NBOMe, 2C-B, 2C-E, 2C-I, 2C-C, LSD, and DMT in the past.

Yes these are very important to mention. Sleep deprivation is one of the mechanisms for the kinds of problems you are having. Definitely discontinue all unprescribed drugs. Please consider talking to your doctor about this. And perhaps you could ask your doctor about switching you to a shorter-acting ADHD med so you can get more sleep. Sleep is very important - 2-4 hrs a night is not enough! You really need to do something before it gets so bad that you firmly believe your hallucinations are real and become unwilling to get help.

You guys were right. Last night and the night before that I got 9 hours of sleep each and I feel better today. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. She's a nurse practitioner and I've always seen her for ADHD medications so I'll explain to her everything going on. I probably should be seeing a psychiatrist, but it's the best I could do. I feel bad because I caved and took my regular dose of vyvanse today even though I decided I'd stop. Everything I look at looks like it's moving and undulating slowly.

Take multivitamins and chelated magnesium whenever you take amphetamines, cut your amphetamine doses in half, double the amount of time you currently dedicate to sleep, increase the amount of healthy food that you consume whilst on amphetamines, and avoid all drugs not prescribed to you, especially psychedelics. I think opiates would make everything much much worse too, being somewhat anxiogenic and given the circumstances, they just seem like a bad solution, especially as a hypnotic.

My semester ends soon so that's a good sign. The only anxiolytic drugs I have at my disposal are metroprolol and propranolol and I dislike the feeling of benzodiazepines.

I have an appointment with my doctor next week. Hopefully he'll have some decent advice.

In the mean time, would taking moderate doses of hydrocodone or an opioid or ate help to relieve any of these symptoms?

Everything you just mentioned besides the benzodiazepines could cause psychosis/HPPD. You should add that to the OP because I'm sure all of those have much more ability to be part of the problem instead of a therapeutic vyvanse regime.

yes what you're describing does sound a lot like psychosis to me. i don't think anyone should be denying this. but i don't think its down to just purely amphetamine usage, considering you have taken high doses of multiple hallucinogens (and we don't know at what frequency either) this could also have interfered with your brain.

i would stop the lisdex immediately. you need a break from all the recreational drugs for a while in my opinion - you can continue to take the meds later (if you chose to) but i seriously suggest you stop for the time being. i'd give it about 2-3 months, make sure you're sleeping properly (8-9 hours a night, possibly more considering you're suffering from hallucinations) and look for an alternative to the lisdex in the meantime.

i would start a supplement regime as well to attempt to clear out the body of toxins and help repair the brain somewhat. a multi-vitamin daily, ZMA supplement at night and l-tyrosine+vit b6 would be a start. however to take l-tyrosine YOU MUST NOT BE TAKING THE LISDEX.

personally i would do this: multivitamin, make sure to eat more nutritious and balanced meals 3-4 times a day, 1000mg of l-yrosine +50mg vitb6 3x a day, high doses of fish oils (5-6 grams) daily, ALCAR at night along with the ZMA. i'd also take coenzyme Q-10 daily, and melatonin at night (for their neuroprotective features).

Hey OP, you should consider dexedrine. Its the same chemical (dextroamphetamine, well minus the lysine) and its instant release.

But fuck yeah I'm glad :)
